An incredibly great experience from the first phone call to the final walk-through. Rick's Custom Fencing and Decks built a brand new deck, underdecking and porch at my Gresham home. They also updated the existing chain link fencing and rehung a gate in the same area as the deck. They removed the old deck that was essentially starting to look like petrified wood in the forest before building the new deck which was a composite decking material. The workmanship for the deck was top notch. The project cost was about what was originally estimated which was a huge plus. No cost overruns whatsoever for the project. Hiring Rick's will give you a skilled and experienced crew and you will be assured that the estimate will be accurate with no high cost surprises during or after the project is completed. Ethan was a fantastic point of contact. He handled the estimate, came to my house with decking color samples on the first appointment and was outstanding to work with. I was also able to visit their Gresham location showroom to look at railing styles and selected the aluminum railing because it is zero maintenance. The aluminum railing cost a bit more but completely worth it. The crew was on time every single day and worked hard. Happily we did not have terrible weather -- only 2-1/2 days of rain during a two week project beginning the second week of December. Each member of the crew was efficient, respectful and absolutely great to work with. They asked thoughtful questions, asked for my input when things came up, listened carefully and incorporated my suggestions for relocating a gutter downspout. Thank you Andy L. I chose what I thought was the easy button for my project, 2 benches and replacing a trellis. I really liked Dan S senior design and sales. Their price was higher than the other quotes I got but they could deliver on my timeline. They delayed work a day or two but still were able to meet my timeline. What I failed to understand is that the project was not actually completed when the crew finished. I had to paint an area that was supposed to be covered, as per my discussion with Dan, that for some reason when I pointed it out the crew told me that "the boss?" decided it should be left exposed in case I wanted to paint behind it, but was then partialled covered so that it could not be painted behind. Also I neglected to note that the benches and trellis would not be stained (was told Rick's doesn't do that) and that would have to be done by an independent contractor (great guy, great attitutude) who was already scheduled 3 weeks out. So my easy button was not so easy. Should probably have gone with one of the other guys who included staining in their bids. Quality of work was okay not great. But it's done and I've checked it off my list and moved on to the next project. Lesson learned. Again. read more

Jean & Andreas just installed some fences around our house and did incredible! They kept me fully informed about progress and asked me whenever there was a customization question (which side should the gate hinge go, or which direction should be the primary way it swung). I even asked if i could get the top of the gate rounded and they were happy to accommodate. This was our second time working with Rick's Custom Fencing. The first was in the front of our property in 2022 and we love how it turned out. That first project taught us a helpful lesson though- digging and setting our own post holes was really difficult and not worth the money we thought we'd save. This time around, for our back fence and shared fence with neighbors, we had Rick's remove our old fence and set the fence posts for us and we did the rest. Andrew M. and Pedro P. removed our old rotten fence, set the posts for the new fence, and did such a great job making sure we had everything we needed to complete the job ourselves. I'm sure they'd have done an amazing job finishing it, but we didn't mind the project this time around since they did the hardest parts. They even built and installed two gates for us.
