VIS Design rebuilt our deck as the previous one needed to be replaced due to rot issues that made it unstable as well as replacing the stairs and landing outside our laundry room. Since it is a large deck on a on a slope, we knew it was not something we could do ourselves. After listening to our hopes and ideas, they developed a couple concepts for us to consider before we settled on a plan. After we agreed on the concept Victor and John came and gave us their appraisal and bid in a very timely manner. Although they had other projects before us, they began gathering materials and doing the new foundations for the new deck in early November. Although cost does enter the picture, they were fair in their understanding of our goals and needs and stayed on our agreed upon budget. Their requests for a deposit and funds along the way were reasonable. When we needed an additional week for the funds to come into our accounts as additional materials were ordered and delivered, they understood and continued the work. It was easy to communicate with them through person to person, phone calls, e-mails and/or texts. We decided to go with the Rocky Harbor Trex design and watched each day as the project progressed until it was done. Even with the November winds and rain, they showed up and worked throughout each day. Their work ethic and skills are second to none! When it was done, the new deck exceeded our expectations not only for the design, but also the stability, their professionalism, keeping us informed throughout the process, and their understanding of the many questions we had along the way. I saw Victor's work van in my neighborhood and gave him a call. He quickly scheduled a meeting to come see what I needed. Within 3 days the project was complete. When I bought my house the builder didn't complete the deck rail and it was a safety issue, so Victor came and completed the work and added a bonus rail! This team of two are amazingly efficient. Once work began, they quickly removed the old structure and hand the new supports in place within days. Victor is a true craftsman. I hesitate to call him a "deck guy", because that brings to mind bland contractors who are installing pre-fab boards. Looking through his portfolio from his clients, it's easy to see that he takes an immense amount of pride in the kind of work he does. He definitely demonstrated his expertise in design and engineering when working with us on our deck spaces. We had a few outfits come to quote for us, but it was clear that they were working with standard materials and were not offering any opinion on design. Immediately upon meeting Victor, my husband and I were struck by his professionalism. He came early (!) to visit with us and knew what we had in mind right away. His specialty is ipe wood. His quote was competitive with companies that were offering pre-fab deck material, but we decided we wanted the warmer, beautiful look of the wood. Victor took extremely detailed measurements, spoke to us about deck design layout options, and provided a quote immediately, on the spot. The true magic is when he started his work. Victor and his partner Ian(sp?) are meticulous - every line, screw, and board were perfect. My husband is a meticulous mechanical engineer and he really admired Victor's handiwork. Victor also consulted with us about how to better secure our deck (we live on a hillside) and we went with his recommendations. Very impressed with Victor and the work he and Ian (sp?) did. I was skeptical as always of the person who did the initial quote/first meeting, however loved the job they did with my 2nd story deck. He was great to talk with and everything worked out extremely well. Workmanship was excellent, inspections went very smoothly, and would not hesitate to recommend this builder for any decking/fencing project you would have. If I remember right from his samples, he only works with ipe, and you have to be very careful when picking a protectorant (I chose a natural color but it darkened the wood, so now I have to wait for another brand to be delivered), however that's on me. Always test the protectorant on samples... Great guy, great work. You won't be disappointed. ps.. just saw where he posted a photo of the deck today. Wow what an amazing company.. Vic came out and worked with us on what we should do. We were extending an IPE deck so we can install a french door. VIS design was our 4th quote. We signed a contract immediately. Vic came out the next week and installed a deck that was better workmanship than the original. We needed an extra layer of border frame after the job was done because it looked awkward. He had no issues adding it! I also was going to add a mini fence to prevent tue garbage pails from falling over as a do it yourself project. When i asked Vic his opinion he told me he would do it for me.. WOW customer service!! Can't say enough about Victor! I reached out to several deck builders to come and install an IPE deck. I wanted to match another deck I had in the yard. I received several quote and a few of the other contractors said they would send an estimate in a few days. Victor came over seemed the best dressed and most professional. Victor was fantastic to work with! Major redesign front of house. Had to rip large rotting original 30' planter box and front door cement stair case off and wanted to put porch in its place. Three phases of this project, all of which Victor had recommendations/partners he works with. The demolition, deck build and house painting. Wanted composite deck and aluminum railing, not everyone is qualified to work with those materials. After numerous bids there was no question I wanted to work with Victor and his entire team. The demolition took one day, six guys and a backhoe. I was amazed at how fast and clean they had the planter box and step removed. The house was prepped for Victor to work his magic. Victor started next day. He pulled rotting siding and plywood off and rebuilt from the studs out. He even found the original cedar siding to match. Deck was attached to the house, sub-flooring all premium materials, pilings sunk deep. Trex Transcend Series decking in Spiced Rum with picture frame design, two fields. Cedar skirting two staircases and aluminum railing with gate. I would have never thought of all the intricacies, Victor knew exactly what to do and cut zero (0) corners.
