Sending out invoices for giving quotes on jobs and saying they were called out for a service calls and "lubricating", when they weren't. Needed a gate repaired at my parent's house in Encino. Set up appointment. These guys never showed and never called. Zero information given to me. Three days later got a an e mail saying they were putting in a work order. I called the company after again no contact and no information again. After being put on a hold a while they couldn't figure out who was supposed to do the estimate. Got transferred to someone who said he was supposed to show up but got sick. Just wanted to share my experience I have had so far with Rick's Gate Service. I have been looking around for a while to have an old unsecured gate repaired/replaced so I can feel a bit safer at night, as well as to be able to let my dog out and not worry that he might escape. I had several estimates, as well as several appointments made with other companies - in which they either did not show up, or they gave some outrageous estimates, and really seemed like it was because they did not want the work. After difficulty trying to schedule an appointment and a few missed appointments on their end we finally were able to connect with someone to look at the gate to provide an estimate. 3 weeks have gone by and after calling day after day, no one has yet to send us an estimate or even return any of the several phone calls. read more

I was hugely disappointed with the way this company treated me as a costumer as well as with the work that they did (which ended up being absolutely nothing.) I WILL NOT BE USING THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A NEW COMPANY TO COMPLETE THE WORK THAT THEY COULD NOT. My boss gave me the company name and asked me to call regarding 2 issues - a broken gate lock and a broken part on the keypad that opens her garage. I called and a horribly rude man (he managed to be both condescending and uninformed) "put me on the schedule" although he could not tell me what time frame I was looking at - although he kept saying that it would be before 12. I called back - because he hung up on me without answering my other questions regarding billing/if someone needed to be at the house/etc. The girl who answered was actually very nice and gave me more helpful details and so I thought "maybe I just got him on a bad day." No such luck The next day they are supposed to come to the house between 10:20 & noon (that's what the girl said,) she also said to call in around 9:30 to get a more specific time frame so I did. When I called they said the guy wouldn't be there until 4p. After a few minutes on the phone an employee assured me that someone would be there before 12p. She was correct, he arrived; he was rude but he arrived. He looked at the gate for 30 seconds and said - I don't fix that. You're a gate company but ok sure - you won't fix the gate because this is a handle/lock issue and apparently industry standards are that you can't fix them (now I did say this on the phone to the gentleman so if it's a standard that they don't fix handles/locks why would he send someone in the first place?) Now onto the keypad. Just a bit of broken plastic but they needed to order a new one - they can't just fix it (I get that, not a big deal.) I wait to hear back from them when they have the keypad and meet the guy at the house. Nope, sorry - we can't fix this, the key pads we brought don't work with the system. If you want us to fix it you'll have to wait several more days and get a whole new garage door system put it - not just the keypad but the unit that controls the door. It'll be $300. Well, that wasn't going to happen. So I said thank you but we wouldn't be doing that. He did re-install the keypad and said there would be no charge. So fingers crossed on that. But honestly, despite the work not being able to be done (which could happen with any company) they were so rude I can't believe that they've stayed in business. If I were the owner/manager I would do some serious house cleaning and create a new system for how to set up and execute appointments because what they did was totally disrespectful. read more
