Rick came out with very short notice and completed the job well and at a good price. I would definitely use him again.

He had to change to 12:15PM the day before, so I agreed. Once here, he put together everything, but I was a bit worried with him carrying heavy parts of the furniture down the steps because he is a bit older and doesn't seem to be in the best shape. I didn't want him to fall going down the steps. He put everything together and it all looked good. He quickly left after I payed.

I will say that he did go above and beyond to help me find the right hinges for a fair price, and he seemed like such a nice guy! He came back a few weeks later with his caulking man (George) and also to fix some uneven cabinet doors from when he installed the soft close hinges. We went through the house and I showed him and George the areas I wanted to be re-caulked: around the kitchen counters, a powder room sink, upstairs tub and bathroom, and laundry room sink. Surprisingly, they were done in less than 90 minutes! I was outside when they finished and were getting ready to leave. Probably my mistake, but I trusted that he did a good job since he talked up George's caulking work so much. I should have gone in and taken a look myself. He didn't ask me to take a look at the work before leaving (a habit that good contractors should have, in my opinion). When I took a closer look after they left, I was very disappointed. The caulking in the kitchen was messy looking-lumpy and edges were not smooth. There were areas that had dirt stuck in the caulking and there was caulk on my tile and cabinets. Then I noticed that he overlooked the powder room. I texted him and told him so and also commented on how the caulking job was not very neat. He replied that he didn't know about the powder room, that it "wasn't on his list". We then talked on the phone, and he was incredibly defensive and insisted that I didn't ask him to caulk the powder room. Ridiculous since George had gone in there with me and even pulled some of the old caulking off and left it on the sink! He just never went back to finish the job. Earl insisted that it wasn't on his "list", but his "list" is only in his mind. He doesn't write anything down! Anyways, he defended George, saying that his work was "perfect". I was taken aback by his defensiveness and unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing. He spoke in an annoyed and rude tone to me. If a customer is unhappy with your work then you apologize and try to see what you can do to fix it. You don't get defensive and rude and basically make him/her feel like they are wrong to complain. Sheesh. I'm very sorry it turned out this way, but I'm back to looking for a new handyman.

I had a vision in my head of what I wanted, but put off the project for years due to procrastination and also the dread of figuring out how to hang them (to perfection). My friends told me to do it myself and save some money, but just the thought of the anxiety it would give me, put me off. Especially because if I did it, and it came out crooked, I'd have to look at it everyday. I couldn't handle that. But then one day, when the frames (Crate & Barrel) I wanted were on sale, I was spurred with motivation to just get it done. I hopped on Thumbtack, and sought out a professional. It was there I found HandyDux. Larry responded promptly and happened to be available to come do the work the very next day. While Larry didn't have the most reviews, he's had glowing reviews, which told me that he's detailed oriented and knew what he was doing. Larry came by and he was a DELIGHT. He was friendly, personable and simply a pro. He took time to measure out each frame individually and used a laser leveler to ensure the frames were level to the millimeter. I now have 21 frames hung in my home and they are SPOT ON. I would recommend Larry to anyone and everyone for framing needs. Larry's on my speed dial! He also is super handy too, so contact him for minor home repairs - he'll do an excellent job!

Approximately one year later, I contacted the company to have the cameras reset, as I did not have a ladder tall enough to reach them, and to install an under-cabinet ducted vent hood. The microwave previously installed in that location had already been removed, the duct opening was prepared for the vent hood installation, a 120V receptacle was already in place, and no electrical work was required. All of this was explained before the job was accepted, and I confirmed the quoted cost for both services on two separate occasions. Unfortunately, there were several instances where Miguel did not arrive for scheduled appointments and failed to notify me that he would not be coming. This continued for approximately a week and a half until he unexpectedly arrived one day. He successfully reset the cameras; however, when it came time to install the vent hood, he stated, "The office quoted me the wrong price, and I charge $250 per hour because I am a technician." He also mentioned that his teenage daughter had accompanied him. I had not hired or agreed to pay for an additional person to assist with the work. Miguel then refused to complete the installation at the quoted price and requested an additional amount equal to 100% increase of the original quote, effectively doubling the cost. I declined and paid only for the camera reset service that had been completed. I am disappointed by the lack of professionalism and poor communication. Had there been unforeseen issues or additional work required, I would have understood. However, that was not the case here. If there was a pricing discrepancy, it should have been communicated before the appointment, giving me the opportunity to decide whether to proceed. Increasing the price on the day of service, without justification, is not a professional business practice. Based on my experience and some of the other reviews I have read, this appears to be a recurring issue. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company.
