As fate would have it, I took the car to the dealership for a recall and they discovered that one of the tires had a small bubble. I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate almost two years with the car by treating her to some new tires. I reached out to Chris who quoted me $1,200 (including manufacture warranty) for four thick profiled performance tires, which was $1,300 cheaper than the quote that I received from the dealer. Chris quickly placed the order for the tires and called me the next day to inform me that they had arrived. Since the establishment is generally very busy on the weekends, I decided to visit on a weekday in hopes for a quicker experience. Thankfully, there was only one car ahead of me when I arrived. Chris instructed me to pull the car into the shop and immediately began removing the tires (I'm always impressed by a hands-on owner). Less than 30 minutes later, the job was done and I was in the office checking out. As Chris implied, I can confirm that the ride quality of my car has significantly improved. I have been a customer for seven years and have referred many friends and family to the shop. I'm not claiming the shop caused the problem, but mistakes can happen during any service. Tire installations and rotations involve human work, and I expected at least a basic inspection when a new noise appeared immediately after the service. Instead, my concerns were dismissed. As a customer, it's frustrating to leave wondering whether the vehicle is safe to drive and feeling like no effort was made to investigate the issue. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this shop. Don't go here please go across the street your safety is very important!!!!! Thank you for your response. To clarify, my concern was never that a tire rotation requires disassembly of suspension or steering components. My concern was that a knocking noise appeared immediately after the tire installation and rotation, despite the vehicle not exhibiting this symptom beforehand. I did not ask for a free suspension diagnosis. I asked that the shop verify the work that had just been performed. As a customer, I expected basic checks such as wheel torque, wheel seating, and tire clearance before being directed toward a paid diagnostic service. Had someone simply said, "Let's double-check our work first and make sure everything related to the tire service looks correct," I likely would have had a very different impression of the experience. I understand that the noise may ultimately be unrelated to the tire service. However, when a new symptom appears immediately after service, I believe it is reasonable for a customer to expect the work performed to be verified before additional charges are discussed. Taking that advice at face value, I spent the money on a brand-new set of factory replacement rims. Ironically, those new rims were improperly mounted, resulting in a vibration that wasn't there before. So my solution to a balancing problem was... another balancing problem. Fast forward to this visit. I brought in my spare wheel to have a new tire mounted. Simple enough. I returned the next day expecting to pick it up, at which point Justin informed me there was "a problem." It turns out my wheel had apparently gone home with another customer. I paused for a moment, assuming the punchline was coming. Instead, I was offered a black wheel as a replacement. The trouble is, I'd previously spent good money buying matching factory silver rims, so introducing one black wheel into the family felt a bit like replacing a missing tuxedo shoe with a flip-flop. Curious, I asked how this could happen if every wheel is tagged with customer information. I was assured they are. So naturally I asked how mine ended up with someone else. The answer was refreshingly concise: "I don't know." I suggested perhaps calling the customer who had accidentally driven away with my wheel. After all, if every wheel is tagged, surely there would be a record of who received it. That seemed like a reasonable plot twist, but nothing came of it while I was there. The result? I use my truck to haul my bikes on weekend rides, and without a proper spare I decided not to risk it. Weekend canceled. Then came the equally enjoyable task of explaining to my wife why our matching spare had vanished and why the proposed solution was a black wheel that wasn't ours. If you've ever tried explaining that sentence out loud, you'll appreciate how little sense it makes. To the store's credit, they called Saturday to say the other customer had returned my wheel. I genuinely appreciate that. Unfortunately, they were closing before I could get there, so the damage, in terms of lost plans and unnecessary frustration had already been done. Everyone makes mistakes. Losing a customer's wheel isn't ideal, but it can happen. What left me scratching my head was that the systems designed to prevent exactly this scenario didn't seem to prevent it, and no one could really explain how it happened. Honestly, I'm left wondering what adventure awaits on visit number four or five or whatever it is. I'm not eager to find out.

The guy looked at the tire and refused to plug it, saying the screw and the hole were too large and that I needed a NEW TIRE. Keep in mind, this is a tire on a set I had only purchased about 5 months ago. I ended up taking it to my normal tire shop, where they pulled the screw out, plugged the tire with no problem, and did it for free. I understand that sometimes a tire may genuinely be unsafe to repair, but in this case, I was given a completely different answer by another shop that has taken care of my tires before. Based on my experience, I won't be coming back here.

He inspected them and showed me how each one was clean, dry, and completely fine. He then inspected the rest of the engine compartment and the undercarriage and showed me that it was all in great shape. Finally, he noticed that a previous mechanic had removed the plastic shroud for my front wheel wells and failed to install new clips to secure the shroud afterward. I had wondered about the gap he noticed for years, but I didn't realize it was anything other than wear and tear. He replaced the clips for no extra charge. I know it seems like a small thing, but to me, it speaks clearly to Roland's character: I believe he genuinely cares about doing right by his customers and taking good care of their cars. When I asked him about some issues with electronic parts on my car (e.g. a digital dashboard display), he let me know that his area of focus was mechanical service and advised me to take my car to an electrical auto shop. I was grateful that he knew the limits of his expertise, communicated them clearly, and stuck to them. I felt his quoted price was quite reasonable, and even after he performed more work than requested (still within about a 1-hour time slot), he stuck to his original price quote. I am very happy with the service he provided and the price I paid! I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

He spent 40 minutes prying at different parts and trying to forcefully remove my fuse box to get to the 100A fusible link that I had to tell him was located beneath and the assembly had to be unbolted to get to it from underneath. After 40 minutes of painfully watching him attempt to force things open. I politely asked him to stop as it was obvious he didn't know what he was doing and broke a few components off my housing. I tried calling him to let him know of the damages. He denied responsibility and said he was only at my house for 5 minutes. He told me to never contact him again and failed to respond to the before and after photos I sent. Do not trust this shady business. What went from a lb easy replacement of a 100A that I could have done myself but did not have the time to do so, resulted in several hundred dollars of parts in addition to more for labor due to gross incompetence. DO NOT TRUST HIM!

I don't usually write reviews but my experience here was so frustrating I feel obligated to inform future customers about what to expect. My boyfriend's car needed a new starter and had to be towed to a shop. We called Rick's around 9am and were told that his car could be looked at that day, but that we needed to have it there by 12pm. We immediately called AAA and requested a tow, which was estimated to arrive at 10:45am. It showed just after 11am and we got it hooked up and sent off. To be courteous, my boyfriend gave Rick's a call to inform them his car was on the way. The owner of the shop proceeded to tell him that he could not fix the car that day because the shop was now full and we needed to have it towed somewhere else. Keep in mind the car was already on its way and we did not have the tow driver's contact information. My boyfriend reminded the owner of their earlier conversation and the owner said that the shop if first come first serve and it was full!!!! We were so angry! My boyfriend had to drive my car to the shop to meet the tow driver and find another place to take it. It was shocking to me how unprofessional this style of business is and I would hate for someone else to have the same experience. I would look for another shop and skip the hassle of Rick's. read more

My Wife's Honda civic did not pass smog at a STAR station due to catalyst fail code. - The guys at the smog place weren't very helpful but were happy to take my money and then conventionality shut down for covid. So I brought it to Rick's (who are open for business) having had a great experience previously with my jeep. Anthony helped me out by running diagnostics and clearly explaining the issue to me (in layman terms) and provided next steps. Issue: basically, the catalyst was not heating up enough for the computer to register it internally. Solution: Drive it 500 miles or so, so that the catalyst would heat up and the cars internal system would register it and clear the fail code. So I drove it and took it directly to Anthony after. He hooked up to the cars' computer and Bingo! no more fail code. I took it straight to another STAR smog station and it Passed. Very honest and helpful. Fair prices and great customer service!! He is amazing. I was traveling from Berkeley to Mammoth Lakes on Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend and my thermostat kept going higher. He made it clear he wasn't sure he could get it done by 4 pm, but kept it on the computer for over an hour and assured me it was ok to continue as the auxiliary fan would come on when the temp went up. AND HE WOULDN'T TAKE ANY MONEY!!. I made it home without difficulty and kept an eye on the thermostat. "Very disappointed with the service at this tire shop. I came to get a tire repaired, and instead of doing a proper job - removing the tire and patching it from the inside as it should be - they just inserted a plug, which only temporarily fixes the problem. I trusted the professionals, but in reality, I was just deceived. This kind of job could have been done by myself in a few minutes, but I paid for quality service, which I did not receive. My car was showing the check engine light, and had a bad idle. I took my car into the shop and he was so kind and helpful. It was during the stay at home orders and so I wasn't sure what to expect as far as service and timeline. This place was such a wonderful experience and blessing! Not only did he fix my car, he also washed it, added windshield wiper fluid, and fixed the hood (it wasn't staying open.) I have found my mechanic and I highly recommend them! read more

Had the front tire plugged and upon leaving I herd a slight clicking driving away from their shop. Turns out there was a second mail they didn't see or that I picked up at their shop - which lead to the rear tire going flat the following Sunday. I contacted them the following Monday to address this. Then the front tire started making a ton of vibration. That's when I noticed it had not been balanced after they installed the plug. I brought the tire back to have it balanced abs their tech never checked air pressure so after leaving a 3 time the car still felt funny so I check air pressure- every tire was at a totally different PSI ranging from 25 on the tire recently balanced up to 38 on the tire we had just replaced. I tried to address this with Josh abs explained that due to them allowing the car to leave without being balanced & not at the correct pressure the tire wore improperly. They agreed abs offered to help replace the tire. They promised me the world at the time, then as weeks drew on Josh kept not taking my calls, would not return a call or message. Then once I got him on the phone one time they said I had to buy the new tire, abs they would offset it with an oil change. HELLO?? You can't get a tire balanced and set the air pressure or even remember to put a valve cap on - why would I let you touch my motor ?? At one point I could have had the tire replaced under roadside protection abs called Josh to try and arrange this. I finally got Josh on the phone and he said the owners would not cover the tire and I was told they cannot offer me service any longer refusing to stand behind their poor work quality and lack of attention to detail. Due to this I will be filling a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive repair - it's California law that your required to check all air pressure on tires before a car leaves a shop. In the end this would have cost Chase nothing if this had been taken care of through roadside, instead they felt it needed to do me dirty and tell me to go away after I've been a solid customer for years. Pretty disappointing !!

My son didn't understand the assignment and the guy replaced the good tire on the spare rim with the other good tire we brought, leaving the flat tire on the good rim underneath the car. He charged us $20 for this. I noticed this and explained to him what needed to be done. He said it would be another $20. I asked him what the purpose was of swapping one good tire for another and keeping the spare. He blamed it on my son. I get that but also take some accountability yourself to be helpful, rather than following the directions of a kid that doesn't make sense and trying to steal a good tire to resell to someone else. I didn't want to give any more money to this place so we left, thinking he could just drive on the spare. Driving home, I realized the switcharoo they pulled on us - that they took our extra good tire and we still had a flat tire in the spare compartment. So we returned. I was not happy. I demanded he return our tire, which he did. I also told him I'd pay him another $10 for our mistake, for him to do what we came for - replace the flat with a good tire. He wouldn't budget. I was not happy. Fortunately, nobody went to jail or the hospital that day. I would stay away from this place. I didn't sense any willingness to help. Only trying to milk what they can out of us.
