Listen, I need you to pay attention here. Never mind that hipster taco place. The one with the free-range grass-fed açaí-marinated something sprinkled with organic powdered unicorn horn. Sure, it may be "Hot on Yelp" ... It may even be featured in the latest edition of "Stuff White People Like." But you'll never pay $8 for a taco again once you go to Rico's. It's a trailer, but one of the old-school food-cart trailers. El Taco Norteño used to be there, on the west side of the Conoco gas station. There's always a smiling, beautiful lady working when I go (presumably she's not Rico). She talks to me in Spanish. "Cilantro y cebollas?" Yes, please. I always get one al pastor taco ($1.50, tax-built in so it's actually $1.50) and one barbacoa ($2), both on corn tortillas. I get a lemon or lime to squeeze over everything and a thin dollop of avocado sauce. A fantastic lunch for $3.50 (and worth three times the price). The trailer is officially called "Rico's" but you may notice the larger sign that says "Tacos Michuacan." Though Google says the correct spelling is "Michoacán" I chose not to argue with the nice lady who served me two of the best tacos I've had in a while. There's only one table there; they obviously are set up for folks to take their food to go. There's a pretty impressive-looking breakfast menu, too. If I ever make it there before noon I'll give it a try and report back. August 2012 update: Got a barbacoa taco and an al pastor yesterday (see photo). Both were fantastic. I'm pretty sure it cost $4 instead of $3.50 this time, but still totally worth it. read more

I have been coming here off and on for several years. What is a hoot is that it is known unofficially as "Rico's Tacos" which is not their official name, but it is a better fit. These are street tacos, which are smaller, but I have never been disappointed. I often stop by and get one taco while out doing chores to tide me over and later get some Menudo at another location if it is a Saturday. I highly recommend the corn tortillas which are also available in the morning. I also highly recommend the Lingua and also the Tripas tacos. The Tripas they will cook to order. There is a double-table with a cover during rain, but I am quite happy sitting in the car as it smells so good. Get the green sauce, quite spicy and full of flavor. The prices have slowly crept up during the years, but I don't mind paying for flavor. I suggest driving through the gas station it is next to as trying to cross traffic can be scary. This is a very blue collar joint a day worker place with very little room to park. I also suggest taking a breath mint with you :-) . read more

This place has good lunch tacos and great gorditas! I had a Al Pastor and a Barbacoa taco n Corn, both were very good, not overly greasy like some places can make it! Not really sure but seems like something was missing from both. I don't think Pineapples are mandatory in Al Pastor but I think it wold help this one... Don't get me wrong it was good, but could be a better! I also had to try their Gordita, al bistek and it was amazing! It seemed pressed since it is fairly flat, but a good 6 inches in diameter. Has a great steak flavor and a good lining of their tasty refried beans, grilled onions cheese and cilantro!!! I will definately be coming back for this! The Rojo salsa is tasty but mild, for that burning kick get their Habanero salsa, it is light orange and watery, but all you need is a dash and the heat levels start rising!!! read more

These are some of the best tacos that I've had in Austin! They were made fresh and perfectly seasoned. Served with green sauce similar to the "dona" sauce at taco deli. Not to mention they are much cheaper ($2-2.50) than their competition but they are a bit smaller. read more

I am addicted to little taco shops where no one speaks English. Don't let this little shack next to taco shop pass you by! Its wonderful! I ordered the steak tacos and am very impressed! Watch out for the green sauce though it'll light you up. I went during the rain and they had a nice cover and some tables. Will be going back! read more

Weeeeeeeee! You guys, I'm a northie by upbringing. So Tacos Matamoros up by Braker has spoiled me rotten for barbacoa and cheap street tacos. Since I moved south, those little meat-filled love boats are a thing of the past. I don't care how cheap they are, I ain't spending $6 in gas just to get one. Enter Rico's. It, like my favorite northside place, is in a Conoco parking lot. Don't be fooled, and don't get all snobby, as these breakfast tacos sitting next to my computer as I type this are BOMB. They make their corn tortillas fresh from INSIDE THAT LITTLE BITTY TRAILER! And they have that runny red salsa that only the best taco trailers have. Also, she's not stingy with the bacon! The chorizo was a little on the chewy side, but I'm going to go back and try the barbacoa. If that passes the test, they're getting all five stars. read more

Bacon and egg in corn tortilla and sausage and egg in corn tortilla. Both served up on plates (to go option available) with two salsas...a red pepper and green creamy. This place is actually called Tacos Michoacan. Very tasty, excellent tacos. Be sure to get her homemade corn tortillas. They are sublime. I ordered a dozen once to make enchiladas at home. I eat here all the time. Its super cheap and delicious. Plus they don't charge tax like more and more trailers are starting to. My faves are the chicken fajita, which comes with grilled onion and avocado and cilantro and cheese. and the potato egg and cheese. The fajita is only $2 and the potato egg is only $1.50. Yum.
