I love little hole-in-the-wall Mexican places and that's exactly what San Juanita is. The ladies that work there are very friendly and make sure you're taken care of through your entire meal. I stopped in for an early weekday breakfast after a friend recommended them. I got the Huevos Divorciados so I could try the salsa ranchera (which my friend recommended). It was really good. I loved both the red and green sauce and loved the cook and seasoning on the ham and potatoes. Everything came out quickly too. I think I was in and out in less than an hour. I will definitely be back for more tasty food from San Juanita.

I knew it when I picked it up, before biting into it...the flour tortillas were too thick and weren't crisped up enough. Really loved the atmosphere and wanted to love the breakfast tacos. Chorizo and egg on flour and bacon and egg on flour. My standard first order. As above, the tortillas are just average and that's they key. Fillings were good. $2.75 each. Two is a meal.

The food for breakfast here is really good. The potatoes are amazing. I love that they're not just pieces of potato fried. They actually put seasoning and it's really good.. The service is always friendly and fast and this place is always clean. The ambience is comfortable and fun. They really play great music a mixture of everything. I love the 80s and 90s and Mexican music just when you need it. The soft opening is today and so far it seems so fun. I haven't tried the lunch special yet, but I'm gonna try the dinner the enchiladas and the stuffed avocado and the trio plate looks so great. I can't wait to dig in.

Love this place, original South Austin restaurant, local and woman owned. The breakfast tacos are my favorite, been getting them for years and they never disappoint. Plus, they have Spanish karaoke on Friday nights, so much fun!!

Stopped in for a breakfast taco. Service was quick. The Bacon Egg and Cheese taco was hot and fresh. They packed it with egg and a generous amount of bacon bits and cheese. Unlike other places that give one slice or just a tiny amount of bacon bits. I'll be back to try more of the menu! Ok that was yesterday...today it's Ham Egg and Cheese $3.38

Great breakfast tacos & service. I come here regularly & enjoy the picadillo tacos especially... As well as their crunchy beef taco plate- the shells are next level crispy! Love the spicy salsa & chilaquiles Verdes as well. Consistent, local & tasty, so I will keep on coming back!

It's that good people!!! Nuff said.

Best authentic enchiladas I've ever had. Small place but very cool. Great friendly service. Went for lunch, in and out.

This place has delicious food and great service. Family owned Restaurant with great menu options. We been coming here for so many years- when they relocated we followed and so did other customers. They take call in orders to go.

This little joint is located in a strip plaza off of South Congress. Their menu includes breakfast and lunch options. They do serve beer and margaritas (we were there for breakfast, so we stuck with coffee). We ordered the Juevos a la Mexicana and the Migas Especiales with chorizo. Both were fantastic. They were served with tortillas and salsa. Everyone who worked there was friendly and accommodating. It was a very inexpensive and satiating meal. Definitely a "no frills" spot, which is always nice.

    Bad grey looking queso?

The tacos here are good, we use to get them when we were kids so it's sort of nostalgic for me. With this said their queso game is unfortunately poor at best. First of all 6$ for this little cup and for some reason the cheese sauce looks separated, and the taste is of something I melted in the microwave as a after school snack. Just not great or good. Tacos are great! Queso not so much.

Still the best, still the same super-hot salsa. Get the beef fajita taco all the way.

Arriba Abajo as you walked in just gave me all the vibes of a happening place when you want to hang out with friends and have a great time. We ordered the braised ribs rolled tacos for appetizers. It was so fresh and kicking' with all kinds of flavors. I wish I had ordered another one. The avocado sauce layered on the bottom was just enough to keep wanting more. For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. Amazing taste, flavors, just the right amount of marinade on the Carneasada with a hint of lime. It was so delicious while enjoying the ambiance. Our server was a delight and took very good care of us. We didn't order any of their alcoholic beverages since we were both working, but definitely we will be back to enjoy more food and try out their beverages.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. Next time I will try some other delicacies since I always get tacos tacos burritos or quesadillas: time for some new items on the menu! Enjoy!

As a Texas native & Austinite, my boyfriend has been going to Fonda for years (they've been around…read moresince 1975 after all). I've only been once and it's definitely not gonna be the last time. In fact, we've got an upcoming reservation that's been on the books for quite sometime. They've managed to remain delicious, relevant and in demand 50 years! That's saying something. I'll tell you what that says...it says they rule! Reservations can be tricky to get but oh so worth it. The bar & atrium are fantastic and they boast a generous happy hour. The restaurant area and entire space are decorated wonderfully. Amazing artwork adorns the walls, they've got extensive art all about, vaulted ceilings and more. It's kind of like being in a hacienda. It feels like you're in Mexico. Truly. The restaurant and food are upscale without being pretentious. How refreshing! Speaking of refreshing...they've got cocktails and mocktails that will knock your socks off. I'm a big fan of the Nojito. My boyfriend loves the Mexican martini (it's primo). Let's talk about food. Wow-wee is it everything and then some. This is the kind of Tex-Mex flavor that sends your tastebuds into a tailspin of goodness! On our visit we did a salsa flight (we did 3 salsas), the queso (melted muenster and Oaxacan), Wagyu beef tacos, and chicken verde enchiladas. We did a spread like that in order to share everything. Food so good I'd give ten stars if I could. I can't put my finger on it but there's just something so special about the food, the taste of it, and the quality. It's just incredible flavor explosion bite after bite. If I had to guess, I'd say the food has been made with love, skill, and attention to detail all these years. Hence, their amazing reputation. Service is beyond compare. Hands down some of the best I've experienced in all of my worldly travels. Fonda San Miguel (Tzintzuntzan) is a dream come true!
