Fast forward to now, when I renewed my ClassPass for a month trial, RYDE was the very first class I booked because it was my favorite. I've tried other cycling establishments, but RYDE reigns superior. The studio is clean and modern. And the bathrooms are equipped with everything a girl will need, and they have Aesop soap! That's all that I need to say. I am a regular rock climber, but once I phase out of that, I can definitely see myself being a RYDE regular. The classes are high-energy, and the instructors are fantastic at keeping you motivated. I thoroughly enjoyed my classes with Gustavo and Leon. If you are on the fence about giving cycling here a chance, please do yourself a favor and try it out. It is like a party, but you're putting your energy into biking. I'm not sure when I will be back because I currently cannot justify paying almost $300 a month for a membership, but I look forward to my next visit to RYDE!

I've taken multiple teachers, and all have been great. Be warned, this is the type of cycling class where you'll be doing arm choreography, but that's what makes it so fun! It's a really clean space, and the room is dark, so you don't have to worry about all eyes being on you. I wouldn't say it's easy for beginners, but you can always adjust to your needs.

The static fit yoga class at Duo Houston with Lesbianland was such a good time. It was outside, the weather cooperated, and the energy was just right. A whole crowd of beautiful women, good music, and a space that felt safe, calm, and fun all at the same time. Morgan Brown led the class and really set the tone. It felt grounding but still had a little spice to it, not boring at all. After class, they had matcha and acai bowls and gave us 15% off, which I love because who doesn't want a little reward after pretending you can plank longer than you actually can. Speaking of... they had a planking contest and somebody held it for over five minutes. I tapped out mentally just watching. Only thing to note, if you want coffee you'll need to walk over to a nearby shop in Autry Park, but it's super close so no complaints there. Overall, great vibes, great people, and definitely a space I'd come back to.

If you take a cycling class , you will need shoes & they can be rented for less than $4. A locker is provided, a towel for during your workout & you're given a cold infused towel at the end of your workout.

I enjoy Define since I discovered it when visiting my mom in Houston. I also am a big fan of…read moreKayla's classes, and she teaches at several studios including this Rivers Oaks one. I have also been taking livestream classes from Define from my home during the pandemic. The classes are a good price ($12) compared the in-studio ones, and there are offerings from 5:30 AM to 7:00 PM, across all types of workouts. The studios are renting equipment for people who do not have that at home. However, since I am several states away, I am already set up with what I have here. I have taken bounce and body classes via livestream and the sound quality is great. There are one or two instructors on zoom, and one is cueing while another is demo-ing. I was also able to take two free classes (one body and one bounce) with the founder, Henry Richardson. I actually was able to talk to him both times before he started the class and he was so nice. My friend joined the bounce class and enjoyed his calm but motivating energy. If livestream continues as some studios open up, I will continue to take them from Kansas.

Can we say snooty?! It was my first time here, and the receptionist had me sign a waiver. But,…read moreafter that, she wasn't very helpful. She just stayed in her seat minding to her own business. I had to ask her how to use the lockers, which had combination locks that didn't even work. I tried two different lockers already. Safe to say, I just brought my handbag into the cycling room because I couldn't trust the security of my things. The spin instructor was not very welcoming either. I had to set up my own stationary bike seat level, and I would've liked a little bit more help to make sure I was comfortable before starting the workout. I mean, the class was only 50% full. Once I did get started, the workout was challenging only because I kept the resistance on my bike up. Otherwise, the instructor was pretty lukewarm with her enthusiasm during the workout. Also, what the heck is up with the dimmed lighting?! I mean, if we were doing yoga or meditation, I get it. But, an intense cardio workout? I couldn't even see some of the moves she was telling me to do, to be honest. The lights should've just stayed on. Even then, the workout music was playing even louder than the instructor was talking. So, I barely knew what she was saying too. I don't feel there was effective communication at all. I wish the workout music was more upbeat as well. I mean, at one point, Ed Sheeran's song, "Perfect" started playing. I was like, wth? There were only women in the room. Awkward. Otherwise, the facility is very clean. They have a bathroom next to the changing rooms. They have automatic hand sanitizers and a water dispensing station. Also, they did give me a free pair of rental shoes for the spin class because it was my first time here. So, that was nice. I don't know that I'd be back, though, just because the customer service was not great, and the workout was not very inspiring.

I recently moved back to Houston and have been looking for a Pilates studio. TruFusion came up in…read moremy search and I was attracted by the promotion advertising a free first class. I later found out that the free class doesn't include reformer Pilates, so I signed up for a Yin Yoga class instead. I've been practicing yoga for over two decades. Signing up online was easy but I received a flood of emails asking me to download different apps along with multiple email and text reminders for one class. Personally, I found the reminders excessive. The studio wasn't very busy when I arrived around 4:30 pm. However, I wasn't told which room my class was in, so I found myself wandering around until another member kindly pointed me in the right direction. Unfortunately, my first interaction with the instructor left a poor impression. As I was walking into the room and putting my phone on silent, she immediately said, "No phones inside." The comment came across as abrupt and presumptive. I wasn't planning to use my phone during class as I was simply silencing it before putting it away. A friendlier approach would have made a much better first impression. She then asked me to grab two yoga blocks. Once inside, I found the room extremely dim. As someone with low vision, it was difficult to navigate and I briefly considered leaving. Since I was already there and because I'd practiced hundreds of Yin Yoga classes but had never experienced a heated Yin class, I decided to stay. I'm actually a longtime fan of heated yoga and love Bikram yoga (now hot yoga) when it first opened in HTX. The class itself was somewhat enjoyable and I felt good both during and afterward. After class, I wasn't sure where to return the yoga blocks. Another student asked me the same question and we quickly realized we were both first-time visitors. This highlighted something that could easily be improved: it would be helpful if instructors spent just a minute welcoming first-time students and explaining a few basics, such as studio etiquette, where to put props after class, and any post-class expectations. Small touches like that can make newcomers feel much more comfortable. Before leaving, I checked out the locker rooms and noticed they have showers. The facility is spacious and offers a wide variety of classes, including aerial yoga, which looked interesting. Overall, the studio has a lot to offer. However, the onboarding experience and instructor interaction could be more welcoming for first-time visitors. While the facility is impressive, I'm not sure I can justify paying over $200/month for a membership although there are lower tiers. in addition, I travel abroad frequently and read that there is a $35 fee to freeze the account.
