My child is slightly scared of heights so the gondola ride up was a little scary for him. Once we were on the top, he was fine with the open views of all around Georgia. He was even playing around with his friends making the ride back down more enjoyable for him. That is what a good view and fresh air can do for you. 31.07.2026

The mountain was also the site where the second Ku Klux Klan was founded in 1915. Knowing that history made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the experience. They've built a family-friendly attraction area around the park with shops, activities, and entertainment, but when we visited, it was DEAD. There were barely any people around, and the area felt almost deserted. I'm not sure if it was the day we visited, the cost of the attractions, or simply that people come more for the hiking and scenery, but the attraction area lacked energy. The mountain itself and the surrounding nature are beautiful, but personally, the history behind the site is something I can't overlook. I'm glad I experienced it once, but it's probably not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.

Featured events are the Athletics (big dudes in kilts tossing telephone pole-sized cabers, heaving 50# stones, and throwing bales of hay over a 30' bar with a pitchfork), the Pipe Bands (200 bagpipes at once... a glorious assault on the ears...), and the Dance competition (young girls dancing over swords, 'nuff said...). There are usually a hundred or so exhibitors: English and Scottish foods (try the haggis!), pottery, and kilts in every tartan. If you are of Scottish descent, stroll through the Clan booths to find your distant relatives - there's a genealogy booth to help you do that. And when you find yours, stop in and learn more about where you came from. I'll be at the Gunn Clan booth, sharing a drop of the "water of life" with my brethren...

It has row after row of stalls selling jewelry, weaponry, food, clothing, kilts... the list goes on. The meadow is set up for the Highland Games which are interesting to stop in and watch. And throughout the woods are little stands for all the different clans to display their tartans and info about their history. Throughout the day you can also stop in and watch the sheepdog and falconry demonstrations, highland dancing, and different music and dance stages. The best part about this festival is just the energy in the air. Seeing everyone walking around in their tartans and sense of pride they all have. Sunday is great because they have the Parade of Tartans.

The sound of the water, rocky landscapes, and peaceful surroundings make it easy to forget you're only minutes from Atlanta. excellent destination for a day of hiking, picnicking, and making memories with friends. Initially we parked in the wrong lot but that worked in our favor (where the bait and tackle shop is). There were lots of families out having picnics and fishing. We did a 1-mile loop in the area and were able to see the yurts. NOTED . Beautiful sites to take in before we ventured to the main lots with the visitor's center. Not only are the trails well marked, but there is ample parking across multiple lots. The attendant at the gate entrance was so kind, welcoming and JOYful! We ventured out on the red trail and it was gorgeous. To my surprise, the trail was full today. It seems that Sweetwater is a populated date spot!!! We saw folks of all ages out with picnic baskets, journals, coloring books, bathing suits ... it was AMAZING! We hiked to the end of the red trail and back, venturing off trail to be clear to the River only once. By far, this was one of my favorite hikes and definitely a place I'll revisit to explore some of the other trails.

We received just one of the orders. In a fra tic effort to make the restaurant personnel aware, we called (and called and called) until someone finally picked up (admittedly, after closing). We related our concern that only one-third of the order was delivered. Golden Krust offered ZERO in the way of support, compensation, or caring customer service. We also reached out to doordash. After more than an hour of going back and forth between DoorDash, Golden Krust, and the delivery driver (who maintains he asked twice to confirm he had the full order) we were able to get a DoorDash refund for a portion of our payment. After a visit today to Golden Krust, there was still little understanding and no attempt to provider any support to secure our FUTURE patronage. Perhaps Golden Krust does not need our business. They certainly will not, nor will they be recommendes by us as a place that values their paying customers. A shame, really. We were looking forward to patrinizing a local restaurant and enjoying what we hoped would be a delicious meal. We'll never know.
