Yelper Stephen H. had it right when he said that the Confederate Memorial @ Stone Mountain Park deserves a separate and special review apart from that boat ride, laser shows & etc. of Stone Mountain Park. After all, the carved out of stone memorial is the largest bas-relief sculpture in the world. It pictures Confederate leaders President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson along with their horses, "Blackjack", "Traveller", and "Little Sorrel." Even though it brings with it many of the totally disgusting horrors of the past, was originally brought about though the efforts of the Klan and though many have demanded its removal, it represents a big part of the evil in American history which we must face up to. And history, regardless of it being bad or good ought to be remembered. If we don't, it could in one form or another be repeated. It also became a certain marking point in history when Dr. Martin Luther King in his famous "I have a dream" speech said "Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia," and there are now efforts underway for the creation of a Freedom Bell to tower above it all. There are two ways to see it. You can walk down near the foot of it and look up, but I think the better is to take the gondola lift to the top of Stone Mountain, but when you board the gondola be sure to get to the front of it for the least obstructed view.

I'm writing a separate review because the Memorial is something special and set-aside. It shouldn't really be discussed in the same review as "snow mountain" and "the duck ride" and "the laser show." It has its own fascinating history that deserves its own separate oeuvre here on Yelp. So, let me briefly tell the story. On the side of this mountain is the largest granite bas-relief in the world. On it are enshrined three American heroes of the Confederacy: President Davis, General Robert E. Lee, and General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The story of how it came to be made is almost as fascinating as the separate histories of those men themselves. Gutzon Borglum was commissioned to do a carving in the Nineteen-teens. His project was very ambitious, and was set to have many figures in the carving. Work stalled due to World War I and Borglum went on to Mount Rushmore. Augustus Lukeman made a lot more progress, including dynamiting Borglum's original work and making quite a bit of progress on a new design, which is the one we have substantially before us today. The Great Depression and WWII further delayed the work and it wasn't until the 1970s that Roy Faulkner, with a lot of the crew that worked with Lukeman in the early days, finished this magnificent carving. Confederate Hall, which overlooks the monument, has some great short videos which tell the story of the Battle of Georgia and the "men who built the mountain." At the base of the Memorial are various "mini-memorials" in which each state of the Confederacy is commemorated with a granite block and a series of explanations with pictures and texts that tell the story of that state's involvement in the War. Included are the border states of Missouri and Kentucky. Yelp is not the place to get into the complex story of the War Between the States. It is easy enough to reject the narrative of North = good, South = evil. I think any intellectually honest person gets that. The complications and contradictions...that's far more fascinating...and better to have a discussion in person about stuff like that. :-) However you feel, this memorial should inspire anyone to take a deeper and closer look at American history.

The South's version of Mount Rushmore. Pictures don't do it justice. It's just a shame that the Memorial is inside of Stone Mountain theme park. It detracts from the aura of the Memorial to the Confederate Generals. Carved into the side of Stone Mountain, this is an impressive site well worth seeing. Even better is to take the Gondola ride up to the top of Stone Mountain. You get incredible views of the Memorial, and being atop the Mountain is pretty impressive as well.

This tour takes you to a lot of places in Midtown that I would've never seen before but now I want to experience these places as well. I've never been to Piedmont Park and I will be going back to visit. But the tour guy was amazing. He knew a lot on the tour and I will say he knew all of our names. It's hard to learn one person's name, but having to learn that seven people that were on the tour and being correct every time it was impressive. They give you a helmet and teach you from the beginning how to ride, slow down, come to fast stop so you are comfortable before you even start the tour. I absolutely enjoyed every moment of it. I highly recommend you take this tour if you're ever in Atlanta.

This is my first and only negative review. It takes a lot for me to do this. We had a very…read moredisappointing experience with this company. Our group of four booked a Segway tour weeks in advance and arrived as scheduled, only to be told upon arrival that the tour could not proceed because their tour guide was unavailable that day. We were informed that they had attempted to notify us the day prior, while we were in transit, but no meaningful effort was made to ensure we actually received that message. A voicemail was left while in transit that only gave the name of the person to call back. We did respond message the company back but no message of details was sent to us. There was no information given us that the tour had been cancelled and there was no effort by the company to call us back this morning to indicate the tour was canceled. Instead this company allowed us to show up. When we showed up this morning, the office was dead quiet. The one staff easily could've contacted us before we arrived, to have allowed us to make alternate plans. As a result, we showed up expecting a confirmed booking. While an apology and refund were offered, that is the minimum one would expect in this situation. There was no attempt to find a replacement guide or propose an alternative solution, despite the significant inconvenience caused. What was most concerning, however, was how the situation was handled. As we calmly discussed next steps among ourselves, we were unexpectedly told that we were making the staff member, Sammi, "uncomfortable". Despite the fact that even though we were highly disappointed we remained polite and measured. We were then asked to leave, and the door was locked behind us, which felt offensive as well as entirely unwarranted given our demeanor. She should've called us that morning and if anything that would possibly be why she was uncomfortable because of her own mistake. Our disappointment was warranted and we were not in any way aggressive, moreover never have any of us been called that. It's preposterous that her mistake, resulting in our disappointment and regrouping could be attributed with making her uncomfortable. She could have a higher tolerance for customers and customer service vs blaming validly disappointed customers for frustration which she caused. We are reasonable, respectful customers and simply expected clear communication and a basic level of customer service. Unfortunately, neither was demonstrated here. I would not recommend relying on this business if your plans depend on them.

I think when the pandemic was over you were able to get anything but in today's economy I'm happy with the $14.50! My friend and I both love the salad (I get all the beets bc he doesn't like them ) plus he gets his rolls sans garlic whereas I love garlic! I got my usual Canneloni El Bianco which is SO GOOD that you know it has to be bad for you but what the heck it's once a year! He chose sausage and peppers and for once he couldn't clean his plate! The birthday person also gets a scoop of ice cream with a cookie and candle. Our waitress Allie was great with us but she forgot several items for the table next to us that was my birthday twin Mary who turned 83. Of course, Mary kept her on her toes . The ambiance here is lovely except the place could use a deep cleaning until they do it don't look at the lamps on the tables if dust offends you. The health score was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves once again!
