Thank you, Jed!! You are the reason I bought my jacket in San Diego…read more I spent weeks looking for the perfect jacket for my upcoming trip to the East Coast. I went to REI, Patagonia, and Arcteryx. Due to supply chain issues (Incorrect sizes) and bad customer service (Arcteryx in La Brea). I decided to try out Fjallraven. I'm glad I did. I ended up in their La Brea shop in Los Angeles. I met Jed at that shop while he was filling in from the San Diego store. The experience was a night and day difference from Arcteryx next door. I got to try on each jacket they had and got educated on the different fits and different materials. It was the experience I needed to decide on a good jacket. Unfortunately, La Brea didn't have much heavier coats in my size. So Jed mentioned that they do have the jacket down at his store in San Diego. So one weekend while I was down there, I was finally able to get my jacket (Expedition Jacket Lite Edition in black). If you are in San Diego, I would highly recommend checking the space out. Nice people and tons of stuff to do while trying out your new jacket.

She thoroughly asked questions as to my needs and quickly fitted my foot on their 3D and analyzed my results. I was surprised by the results. She explained the process thoroughly and recommended an insert. I have been having problems with my arch support and my Orthopedic recommended Road Runner. Great call! I left with a new pair of Nike shoes with the new custom made sole insert. My feet feel great, again. Oh, and that VIP pressure people talk about. Spencer explained it showing us how the numbers worked to our benefit. Savings in the long run and able to cancel at anytime. No sales pressure as I read some comments. Numbers did the trick!

Although they had two employees and only two customers, my existence was not acknowledged by either worker for over five minutes. (The gentleman at the register made a noise when I asked him about the machine in the front of the store but that was it). I even stood no more than 4 feet away from a female employee while she was talking with a customer and she didn't acknowledge my presence, much less tell me that she could help me in a moment....... it gives me such a terrible taste in my mouth to be treated like dirt in my hometown. But I did go today and spend $200 on a pair of shoes and I'll bring my family of four (including 2 young teens) to a shoe store in Encinitas even though they sell the same product at the same price over 5 miles away...... I really wanted to support local. But clearly the employees don't care about service.

Sasha, the owner was always responsive to any questions or feedback I had. My daughter got stung by a bee during camp and the Nick C, was so calm and handled the situation perfectly. I happened to be there so I was able to see and help. Nick carried her for me all the way to my car. However if I wasn't there I would be full confident she would have been taken care of. They also played some games with the kids and let them free play in the water and sand when when they wanted. But also encouraged them to surf. Both my kids were able to surf , by day two. I have a daughter and a son an both loved this camp. Ages 7 and 9. The only thing I would say is camp is actually over at 1:45 not 2, but that was so minor I didn't even mention it to Sasha. Its a long day at the beach and these instructors were amazing. We will for sure do this camp again next year. I highly recommend. Thank you SOL SURF!!

We booked the tour knowing it was a bit overcast, choppy and the caves were likely closed but boy were we in for a treat. Nick was out guide and sadly the other couple with us were not able to join but that meant we had a private tour! On our way out we were treated to. Few dolphins. When we got to the caves the waves were just calm enough for a quick in and out. Then on our way back green sea turtle popped his head out of the water and swam under our boat! It was pretty incredible! Nick was an awesome guide! Super knowledgeable and dropped facts throughout the journey. We took my 7,10 and 13 year old sons and they all loved it. Not a bad pivot!!

I thought we would be paddling thru multiple caves but that was not the case. Jade let us get out of our kayaks and swim, and I ended up capsizing our kayak when getting back in. But we didn't capsize going in and out of the waves, which is the most common place to capsize!

First time at Rusty's Surf Shop in Del Mar and such a great experience…read more We were in the area for lunch and ice cream and decided to wander in because our girls have been really excited about boogie boarding... and to be honest, we know absolutely nothing about it. We also love supporting small businesses when we can, so this felt like the perfect stop. Right when we walked in, we noticed how clean, organized, and well-stocked the shop was. There's a ton to choose from, which could feel overwhelming, but the two women working behind the register immediately stepped in and made the whole experience easy and actually really fun. They took the time to understand what we were looking for -- something beginner-friendly that the girls could enjoy without it being too advanced. One of the boards the girls were drawn to was actually more high-performance, and instead of just selling it to us, they guided us to a better option. Honestly, they saved us money and probably saved us from a frustrating first experience. They walked us through how to properly size the boards, explained what to look for, and even set everything up at checkout -- attaching the leash and showing the girls how to use it. They also gave a few quick tips that made us feel way more confident heading to the beach. That kind of service is rare. We also picked up a rash guard for my husband (great quality, he loves it) and a cute little shell bracelet that was perfect for the beach vibe. Is it the absolute cheapest place you'll find a bodyboard? Probably not. But the quality, the guidance, and the customer service more than make up for it. You're not just buying a product here -- you're getting help from people who genuinely care that you have a great experience. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Del Mar.
