Let's be real, we need people to real more books, and kid books, fiction, non-fiction, so lots of books on just about everything. Also, it's curated, so don't expect crappy books here, just good stories with good words. So let's talk about the space, it's open. In the middle, is the "cafe" and it feels just right. Swivel high chairs, spaced nicely apart so you feel like it's your own space. Coffee, baked goods, and even a few lunch type items, it's great. Honestly, for my "work from home" days, I think I might just end up here, because I long for the days of community, and not just friends, but actual chatter about what's going on in the place that I call home, and this may get me there.

Ordered a triple shot over ice with vanilla and the cashier person looked at us like we were from mars and legitimately asked "..shots of...?" totally condescending. Espresso--the answer is espresso, person at the cash register of a café. I inquired about whether this was an unusual order (based on the response when we've ordered this probably hundreds of times in and around seattle, it's not) and they responded that "well, people usually want it in a latte or some other drink". Alright, cool. We let it go. But what prompted me to write this review is this persons final comment. a good while after this convo was done and we'd paid and about to step away to wait for our drink, this person just had to convince themselves they were right, saying "yeah people usually say three shot americano that's why i was like huh". three shots over ice is not an americano. it's three shots over ice. an americano is diluted with water. and not what we wanted....which is why we didn't order it. visit in one word: meh. My advice is to go somewhere that will actually appreciate you being there. especially when there are 10 other shops in a mile radius. no need to be looked at like you are an inconvenience. Cheers!

They had a fantastic selection of puzzle books, which was what I was seeking, and at reasonable prices. The shipping was smooth and efficient, even choosing media mail, which can be slower. I loved the update emails they sent - their tone as well as the helpful info. Will hope to go there in person one of these days!

Staff and owner is very knowledgeable on book recommendations. The owner also designed a lot of merchandise too and it's sprinkled throughout the store. No designated parking lot but I have always been able to find street parking. They have a lot of events so make sure to check their calendar.

OK here is what you get when you come to Ophelia's Books: a three-story bookstore next to a record…read moremusic store (shout out to Jive Records) AND has resident cats inside being all cute and silly as you shop around and browse. Oh, also super unique and adorable in the heart of Fremont. I came in looking for a popular book and I was so happy they had it in stock! My purchase was a new book but there were plenty of gently used books too. My eyes did so much wandering and reading on every single corner as I navigated through the store. When I realized there was a black handsome kitty cat getting settled in a cat bed on top of a bookshelf, I gushed and let him smell me before I gave him a pet (you know - pet rule is they gotta smell ya first). I want to say his name is Archive and I only heard one of the employees talking to him as they tended to the store and books. He was super sweet to me as I browsed the basement floor level of books. I bought a tote bag to bring back home to Texas with me too. The bookstore logo cat design is just super unique and is a great sturdy tote. I was able to place my records in there too so it is sizable for vinyl records too! Friendly service and kind recommendations based off of the book I purchased. Thank you for stocking me up for my plane ride back home.

5/5 they have store cats…read more Haha but in all honestly, it's a fantastic used bookstore in the Fremont area. It looks small when you first enter, but it actually has three floors. There's even a cute sitting area in the children's section! The store is well organized and they have a large selection of books to choose from. The books are well priced for used books. Definitely stop in if you're walking around the Fremont area! And if you're nice, the cats might even let you pet them. :)

Besides the books there are cute stickers and haircuts along with various other flotsam including some fun bookmarks--peep these in the "naughty" section.

Finally got a chance to visit Hardcovers. What a fun book store…read more Starting with the staff. They are very knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations. If you have a genre or specific title you like they can recommend other titles that may interest your. The shop itself has a great layout and so many wonderful titles to choose from. They have a spicy section if you want something a little heavier than standard dark romance. The books are a little pricy but your paying to support a local business and not an evil corporate conglomerate. I highly recommend swinging by.
