Utilized Ridgewells Catering for my work event at Sands Capital Management in Arlington, VA. The company recommended the catering provider as one of their preferred vendors. I worked with Molly. She was extremely helpful & catered my event to match my needs and budget. On the day of the event, I was very pleased with the food presentation. Variety was great & everything was delicious! No complaints from my event guests. Most of all, the on-site catering attendants handled everything exceptionally well! Eudy, Mohamed, and Gianella were phenomenal!! They went above and beyond. I had a few last-minute needs & they stepped up (helping with my swag/sign-in table set-up, providing an extra linen, & working around our onsite craft-making exhibit). Strathmore Live from the Lawn Review: I wanted to send a yelpsphere shout out to the Ridgewell's staff that was present on Wednesday, 8th during Erin & the Wildfire performance. Regardless of the drizzle of rain, the heat & those pesky mosquitoes, the employees were Rockstars. Two of three that were on the grill along with the Manger on duty had not issue checking to see if their Veggie Burger was Vegan friendly, it was not. However & in the interim of checking the ingredients, one of the Griller's offered to cook the Veggie Burger on aluminum foil & away from the meat products...that did me righteous. Other employees taking orders were just as friendly in trying to accommodate customers & their children selections. As far as prices serving an outside venue/event the menu (Tempo Grill) are pretty reasonable, glass of wine for $7, a bag of chips or cookies for $2, Veggie Burgers $11 & Personal Pizza $10. There is eco-friendly self serving station providing plenty of condiments, napkins & utensils. Again, my review is based solely upon the good customer service & accommodations I received during Strathmore's Summer Concert Series & not for catering services. Went to a catered dinner for eight. Passed hors d'eaves included spicy tuna on a puffed cracker, mini meatballs, and shrimp balls. They passed each of the three separately and then in the fourth round, passed the variety so you could eat the one you liked the best. I liked all three! We started our sit down dinner with salad with figs and goat cheese. Yummy! The bread basket was incredible too. The main course were short ribs that melted in your mouth. They were served with a puréed yellow pepper that had us all Intrigued. A combo of spinach and brussle sprouts rounded out the meal. wow delicious!! Killer chocolate dessert consisting of three desserts. A chile layer cake, a chocolate mouse and a white chocolate "thing" that's could make you moan! I highly recommend this caterer! read more

We've used Ridgewells several times over the years, and they're not like they used to be. Another reviewer on here mentioned the whole staff changed in 2017, and maybe that is why they are no longer as good. My contact person was subpar - kept saying she'd send the proposal....never did without continued asking. And it was usually incorrect each time she did send it...time wrong, then number of guests wrong, then menu items wrong. Also no linens were delivered - ultimately this was my fault for assuming they would be - I have never had a caterer not deliver linens, or ask about whether we wanted them. One of the servers told me Ridgewells doesn't off them anymore unless you ask for them - would have been nice to know. Also, no follow up after the event - maybe they're too afraid to ask. On the plus side - the servers were wonderful and the food was good. I miss the customer-centered service of their old days. read more

My company used Ridgewells for a recent event and it went so amazingly well! I have never organized any kind of large corporate function before so I really needed a caterer that would be able to help me pull this thing together. We required food, drinks, tables, chairs, tents, A/V and a bathroom trailer, among other things. Maggie Angle worked with me to figure out everything that we would need to make the event perfect. I am grateful for her and her team's expertise, professionalism and patience; they were a real pleasure to work with. I received so many rave reviews from the guests at the event and I couldn't have done it with Ridgewells. As another reviewer has mentioned, when I first started looking into caterers for the event, I had heard that Ridgewells was amazing, but you would pay for them. Well, after getting quotes from 4 separate caterers, we realized that they were one of the only ones that could source everything that we needed and could do it at a cheaper price than the other options. We hired Ridgewells back in 2017 to do an event and had a fantastic experience. Unfortunately, when we hired them for a company Christmas party in 2018, we were sorely disappointed. Everyone we worked with in 2017 has left the company. We were forced to deal solely with Diane, who was not responsive. I emailed her on numerous occasions for quotes, ideas, or menu questions, and would always have to follow up with a subsequent email and at least two phone calls. We were nickel and dimed for every little thing. They did not send the final invoice until 7 weeks after the dinner, making expensing difficult, yet expected us to pay in 30 days. All of that being said, the food was good and the wait staff was fantastic, so I'll give them two stars. read more

Absolutely horrid company. We went to a wedding they catered a couple years ago. One of their staff was caught on camera stealing $80 from my wife's purse while we were dancing, as well as from the purses of other guests. Spoke to Jose Castro who was in charge the day of the wedding, filed police report, etc. but the company refused to reimburse us despite the video evidence as well as the countless thousands of dollars spent by the wedding party on food and drink. read more

Last month, I had Ridgewells cater my cousin's baby shower--a small party of 9 guests. I paid $300 and was sent five sad-looking, waxy-tasting platters of food that were not big enough to feed us. The food was so gross and I was so ashamed. read more

Ordered from the At Home Menu. EXCELLENT meal. Harvest Salad was loved by all. Entree, sides, all delicious. What makes it easy is you reheat the hot items in the take home containers, same oven temp. Get the garlic breadsticks-worth it. I served buffet style right out of the containers. Highly recommend. WARNING!!!! Do not use if you have guests with dietary restrictions. Their staff is very nonchalant. Their subdivision haute catering (by ridgewells ) is the contractor for my company's catering. We requested a gluten free meal and were provided turkey sandwiches. We asked to confirm they used gluten free bread. The response was "I think so" and "I'm pretty sure". Which are not comforting to say the least. They finally were able to provide grilled chicken, but the manager snidely said "It's not my fault you don't trust". read more

I am a professional wedding, event, and catering coordinator and have worked with many caterers over the years, but Ridgewells is among the very best. We found ourselves in a last minute bind and needed a caterer who could move quickly to accommodate an upscale dinner for 25 guests. I was referred to Rachel Gittins, who was prompt, friendly, and accommodating despite the limited timeline. She dealt with our many, many changes quickly and efficiently and put together a menu of four hors d'oeuvres, a plated first course, entree, and plated dessert at a reasonable cost that met our budget. She was so upbeat and enthusiastic that it made the planning process a breeze, and she is amazing at what she does. You can certainly put your trust in her, and she will deliver - with a smile!! Our staff during the event was fantastic. One server arrived 30 minutes early and immediately set to work, helping me move and dress tables. The bartender was friendly and efficient, making our guests feel at ease. Adam was our captain, and he was so on top of things that I didn't have to worry for a minute during the event. Darryl was the Chef, and he provided delicious food with exquisite presentation - even the bread was amazing, and the passion fruit cheesecake with raspberry coulis was to die for! Our guests had an amazing time and could not stop raving about the food, service, and presentation which are all key elements when pulling off an event. Thanks to Ridgewells, this is an event everyone will be talking about for a long time, and I am so thankful to their amazing team for their hard work and diligence. I ordered tableware for Thanksgiving, and had to revise order, since it was wrong. When they brought the dishes, 10 were broken, called Ridgewells and did not call me back until Tuesday, November 27, after I called for the second time. Therefore, I was missing 10 plates for our Thanksgiving dinner. I ordered 24 turkey cookies, and they sent me a holiday assortment, which I never ordered. They told me it is a busy time of year for them!. It is very sad how Ridgewells has declined since I started using them 28 years ago. I called this afternoon to order a cake for Thursday, and they said I had to pay 25% more because the deadline was Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. Their food is excellent quality, and they use very good products, but please, be more serious about customer service. read more

I'm surprised at all the wonderful reviews for Ridgewells. Our experience was terrible. We hired Ridgewells for Thanksgiving -- prepared food as well as a chef, a bartender and two servers -- and the staff was nothing but a disappointment. The chef didn't know how to prepare the items we ordered, the server kept telling our guests that the beef short rib egg rolls we ordered were pork (which was particularly troublesome since ten of our guests keep Kosher), and the bartender didn't know the difference between cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir so she kept filling glasses with the two interchangeably. To compound problems, the day after the experience, Ridgewells sent us a survey about our experience. We filled it out right away explaining all these frustrations and the company has not followed up at all. read more

I cannot truly express my gratitude to the Ridgewells team for the phenomenal reception we held with them at Department of State in November. We had a nightmare scenario and organization crisis and then our a caterer (a VERY expensive and often considered best in DC caterer) backed out and wouldn't work with our limited budget with a month to go. Ridgewells to the rescue!! Not only did they (Diane, Lindsey and team) go above and beyond to accommodate our measly budget, they created the whole design of the room for us and even the Department staff said it was the most elegant and beautifully done spread they had ever seen in the space. Our guests were over the moon. The food was excellent and the service was TOP NOTCH. They served as much food with the same FLAWLESS service as the other far more expensive caterer, with a smaller staff and much smaller food budget. I am beyond impressed and look forward to working with them again this spring and exclusively moving forward!! read more

Let me start by saying that you should not avoid Ridgewells thinking they are the most expensive choice in town. I had to say that first because honestly, that's what I had heard and expected. I'm glad I checked with them. It turns out, they were less than everyone else we talked to! I will also say that you should believe everything you've heard about how great Ridgewells' catering is. We had them cater a party held at our house after our wedding reception. This was a tough one for us - some guests were coming from the wedding (i.e., they were already well-fed) and others who probably wanted to eat dinner. Maggie from Ridgewells took this into account along with a not-so-narrow estimate of the number of guests (60-80) and came up with the perfect menu. The hors d'oeuvres and desserts Maggie suggested were scrumptious and were far more creative than what the competition had offered. The amount of food Maggie estimated was perfect. All of the guests got what they wanted and we had a small amount of leftovers, which was a great thing because we were too busy talking with everyone to have time to try everything. The staff from Ridgewells was professional and really knew their stuff. Due to the timing, we couldn't be at the house when Ridgewells arrived. We had a friend let them in and show them a few basic things. They took it from there and set everything up nicely. Even better, there was absolutely nothing for us to clean up after they left.
