Bought second floor carpeting after living with Karastan for over 30 years with no problems, just needed a change in color. The nightmare begins, during COVID time frame carpet laid turned out to be from different color lots, manufacturers agreed to replacement. The second carpet was laid with a "shear" defect, that is a grove cit into the middle of carpet that looks like a one inch racing stripe. I asked how can this happen, didn't anybody at Reimer look at the carpet rolls prior to installation ? I guess not. Reimer offered a "settlement" which I foolishly accepted because being near 70 years old, I couldn't move all the furniture on the second floor for the third time. The problems soon started with the second carpet, ripples started to appear. it seems going forward , Riemer was going to charge to come out and look at ($75) the ripples and than charge for the repair. They have been out at least three times for ripples and over $500 dollars to take care of this issue. It seems to be a great profit stream because it was poor installation from I read on Google. just to add to this, areas that they had to de ripple, seem to be holding. but now the ripples are going to new areas . I feel like ripping out the mess and starting over with another merchant, I can't believe it's worth the money to have a endless cycle of restretching. Truely don't know what to do. read more

Experience thus far... 1) Purchased expensive wool carpet (we were told it was carpet). 2) Manufacturing process took a long time but we were patient. We were told our carpet installation was "tricky," and required an experienced installer. This should have set off alarm bells as you will see below). 3) Carpet installation was scheduled approximately 3 months after order. 4) Install date arrives. We had moved everything in preparation. 5) Carpet and carpet pad are delivered. 6) Install team arrives. Lead installer has more than 35 years of experience. Seemed like a very credible guy. Other guys indicate that he is the top installer for Riemer. 7) After about an hour of analysis, lead installer tells us that the carpet cannot be installed. The carpet was designed only to be a rug and that the multiple seams we needed would look terrible. He demonstrated this by trying to cut the carpet/rug in front of us. 8) We ask what are our alternatives? Answer - carpet has to be returned and we need to start from the beginning in choosing a new carpet. 9) Lead installer said same thing happened a month ago and the customer had to choose different carpet. 10) Carpet and pad are returned to Riemer. 11) We started a new online search for carpet. After about 10 days, we had narrowed the search to two options. 12) Salesperson finally gets back to us after about 10 days. She indicates that they "found" an installer who will install the carpet without a problem. 13) Salesperson indicates this has never happened before, despite the fact that the installer with 35 years of experience said the same thing happened a month ago. Who is lying? Our experience is that it is typically the person who has a motive to lie. 14) Salesperson indicates that manufacturer will not take carpet back. Obviously therein lies the motive. Riemer is in a bind. Salesperson says we have no choice but to take the carpet with the new "special" installer. 15) We feel like this is a shakedown. What should we do? read more

Chris from Reimer, (a very nice guy) came out to measure my floors. When he got back to the office, management refused to give me my estimate. Because I'm sueing the previous floor company for not finishing The job That we paid for. She stated that it's the policy not to complete the work of other jobs, even though it was full rooms that needed to be done. I felt discriminated against and very disappointed. The measurement took 2 hrs out of my day. She said that she does not have time to put together a quote for a lawsuit. I told her that the work needs to be done. She did not care. I would like to see that policy in writing, I think she made that up, and I feel discriminated against. Feeling defeated. I can't even get help by the help!!! read more

My carpet looked great but year later noticed ripple now 2 years ripple larger. Unfortunately no warranty after the year and very expensive to have them look at and repair. Luckily it's next to my bed where no one but me has to look at this unsightly mess . Have never ever had new carpet do this from any other businesses. Very disappointed . read more

I called Tim to get a quote. He was busy with customers before closing. He still took down my info to schedule an appointment with us on Monday morning. Tim had taken down our contact information and said he would call first thing on Monday morning after 9am to schedule a visit to take measurements and would even bring some vinyl composite samples along as well. My husband has been playing phone tag and they were late calling on Monday and called while he was busy in a meeting with the staff. They went back and dory with calls without reaching anyone. I hired Riemer's to replace the carpeting in my home with hardwood. A huge and expensive project, as you can imagine. Jerry G. came out, measured everything, and gave me the quote. We scheduled the install including having a moving team here to meet the flooring installer, Todd, on day 1 to get the large pieces moved out of his way. Then the problems began: 1) Movers didn't show up - finally came 3 hours late after many phone calls, 2) Todd discovered that one of the rooms was actually on a concrete slab and he wouldn't be able to put down the flooring (which I had already paid for and was already in the house)!!! Quoting the contract terms, Jerry refused to allow the wood for that room to be "returned" even though it couldn't be installed. He agreed to have carpet installed at no additional cost. 3) No thresholds were provided to transition from wood to carpet (leaving me with the ragged edge of carpet in one closet), and 4) no threshold was provided for transition from the tile entry to the new carpet. Todd did a brilliant job on the hardwood. He's a master and I can't compliment him enough. But the oversight and management of the job was extremely disappointing. I've always thought of Riemer's as the best of the best and I was willing to pay a premium to have the comfort of their expertise and craftsmanship. Sadly, I now know that the company was sold to a larger company last November. I'm very disappointed. read more

Great selection for flooring but unfortunately, customer service is not a priority. My husband and I visited the store and identified a couple options we later scheduled to view in our home. The sales rep, Zach, did not bring all of the selected items on the first visit and had to schedule a second visit. Incorrect items were brought on the second visit. Never received a call back or email following the second visit with details of the estimate. After 2 weeks, I contacted the store to see if something had happened to the sales rep to explain the lack of response. No, nothing had happened. He just chose not to reach back out to us (when we were seriously interested in making the purchase). I shared my feedback with the sales manager and it didn't seem to go anywhere as I still never received a follow up from the first sales rep with an explanation, apology, or anything. It is unfortunate when companies believe they can treat customers however they want in times of shortages or potential limited options. Or maybe this is this company's overall philosophy. read more

When I entered Riemer to shop for carpet for the bedrooms and hard flooring for the rest of my condo, I was greeted by salesman, Tim. Tim was very professional, personable, and spent time to educate me about the different materials that would be appropriate, considering the subfloor issues that caused me concern. He was knowledgeable and a real pleasure to work with. He instilled a lot of confidence and gave me a price that was comparable to a couple of other bids that I received from mom and pop flooring stores. Knowing that Riemer has been in business for many years and is reputable, I was happy to give them my business. The installer came the following week. He seemed conscientious, showed up on time and got the job done in the two day period. However, after he left and I walked on the floors, I could feel areas underfoot that caused me concern. I called Tim and he came out to look at the job and assured me that corrections could be made to remedy the problem areas. Maik (aka Mike) came a few days later and removed the LVP from the areas that needed further fixes to the subfloor. Considering the condition of my subfloor, the final outcome is much better now and I find it acceptable. The carpet installer, Mike, (not the same "Maik") did a good job with the installation and went beyond the call of duty, helping me by moving a heavy rug into my living room. He was thoughtful and eager to please. Other than the issue of having to have some of the LVP redone, all went smoothly and I'm pleased with the customer service that I received. We recently re-carpeted our home as part of a complete home renovation. After looking around at a variety of carpet stores, I decided to stop at Riemer Floor, Inc on Telegraph. I'm so thankful I did. It was an excellent experience from beginning to end. Mark Waicek, our sales person, was knowledgeable, professional and personable. He gave us a reasonable price, then told us about a sale coming up that saved us even more. Update... they sent someone out to review my comments on the work done. He presented options to correct everything and returned 2 weeks later with the necessary supplies. The repair team spent almost 5 hours to correct everything, and it finally looks like a professional installation job. The lack of response and follow up from sales and dispatch, and initial install timing/quality is preventing a higher rating. read more

We have purchased most of our carpet here over the last 20 years. (I think my parents have too, their whole lives). This place is family owned and operated for generations, so customer service is outstanding. The quality of the carpet and the broad selection at Riemer is second to none. We have tried shopping at Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, empire, etc. and the quality and selection (and value for the money) is just not there. Ps karistan is the best brand of carpet, in my opinion. It's beautiful, it's soft and it holds up well with regular cleaning (modernistic). We had an off-white carpet for 17 years with children and pets and other than a few spots, it's still pretty amazing. lastly: great value for the money. They have good sales. A tip: consider going for a mid grade carpet in the highest grade padding! Unless all you care about is truly lowest price, you will be very very happy with Riemer floors. read more

I decided to replace my kitchen floor and laundry room floor with Armstrong Alterna Grouted tile. Only two places near me sold this. One was Metro Floor in Farmington hills and the other was Riemer. My previous floor was ceramic tile which was laid on top of linoleum and was under my kitchen cabinets. The flooring was not laid properly and there was no sub floor under the ceramic tile. I knew this job was going to be extremely difficult in terms of the labor. I went to both places and didn't feel confident after talking to Metro floor covering. The minute I set foot in Riemer, I knew that I was going to get a quality installation because I described what I had and the next day, my salesperson, Dave Gola came out to look at it. After testing the linoleum for asbestos ( thankfully there wasn't any), He did complete measurements and told me that he would get back with me about installation costs. The tile was cheaper at the other store and Dave Gola said they would match it so this was a no-brainer for me. The next day I got a detailed email estimate with everything from the beginning of the job to the end of the job and nothing left out. The installation was costly as I expected because of the nature of the way the floor was laid and how it had to be removed. We scheduled the job and two weeks later, we started. My installer, Todd Brough was not only top notch, but also very reliable, immaculate and a heck of a nice guy! He is a perfectionist and that is exactly what I needed. From the dumpster being delivered and the appliances being moved and then reattached, I have never had any work in my house that went smoother than this! There is a reason why Riemer Floors has been in business for 75 years. Even the head of installation scheduling, Dion was wonderful. I previously had gone with another company to do all the wood flooring in my house and I regret that I used them because it was a nightmare. This was like a walk in the park! Riemer Floors... 5 Stars on showroom, selection, value, install. The only reason they didn't get 5 Stars was due to the lack of communication as it pertains to a portion of the job. We had the floor replaced (vinyl) in our walk out after a flood. Efficient service upfront, measuring, scheduling of the job, etc. Installers, Ryan and Matt, were excellent. They were on time, reliable, good worth ethic, professional, attention to detail...the install is beautiful. However, we noticed the stairs were bare as they were leaving. Unbeknownst to us, the carpeted stairs are going to be completed on a different date by a different team. This wouldn't have been a problem, had we been told up front. We knew for weeks that the floor was going to be installed. It never occurred to us that this did not meant the stairs. So, we called the office and the person we spoke with told us that the stairs had not yet been scheduled for install. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is the first we heard of it. This was disappointing, to say the least. So today, at the end of the day, we found out that the stairs are scheduled to be installed next Thursday. This would have been fine, had we known up front. As it stand now, we will have to rearrange our schedule to accommodate the install of the stairs. Other than that, we are happy with the install of the floor. read more

Gerry our sales associate was very helpful and came to our house with samples because of the restrictions caused by Covid. Kevin the installer worked by himself had a mask on and was very pleasant. We ordered a small wood flooring job in August. First they said the shipment was damaged. That was a 6 week delay. Then they said they didn't have enough installers due to Covid and now it's almost November and we have heard nothing from them about a possible installation date. I think you should be very careful about ordering something from them at this time. They may be too small a company for this current situation. And Jim, the salesman, was mediocre at best. read more

I was told I would receive a call back, and never did. I had to call them again and chase the associate down. After finally getting ahold of the man, he did not have my quote prepared, as I was ready to book the installation. He said he'd email it to me. Bad experience. First, the decided to show up 2 days late. Second, they smashed a painting and didn't clean up the broken glass. Third they scratched my wall moving the roll of carpet. Lucky me, they're open till 9:00 on Monday night. Whoopee. No fooball game! Okay, so I hate shopping, but boy do I like looking for wood flooring(not really). Well, we have a wedding to get ready for in September so we thought we would get the house ready for a lot of activity in the next nine months. We have always wanted wood floors so now is the best time. Riemer has the largest and the best selections for hardwood floors(carpeting too). We had a salesman by the name Tom, a name I'll never forget. He was helpful in guiding us in the direction we needed to what we thought we wanted. They gave us sample squares (2'x2') to see if we liked them in our house and lighting. Bring your sportute or truck as these wood floor samples are big and heavy. We decided on the color, wood type, and ordered. Installed when they said. They also offered store financing if needed. Now I can say I have a wood(y) and boy does it look great. Don't forget to ask for all the finishing touches. They'll know what they are to help you. Now I have more work, painting, curtains, moving furniture, wow, I'm already sore just thinking about it. read more

Having lived in the area all my life, today is the first time I have been inside Riemer Floors, and sad to report, it was not a pleasant visit. I spent one hour (1pm - 2pm) looking at LVP flooring and not one person asked me if I needed help, offered to find someone to help me, or even acknowledged my presence in the store. Albeit, I was towards the back of the store, but at least 2 salesman saw me when I entered the store, 1 salesman was standing right next to me in the LVP flooring area (helping another couple initially), and at least 5 other employees passed by me as they entered/exited the employee lounge area, and none of these people apparently were concerned that I was alone looking at samples for an hour. The ONLY time anything was said to me was as I was heading towards the door to leave. A salesman said, "someone did help you, didn't they?" and I replied, "no, but I will go somewhere else where they will." I pride myself on the customer service I provided throughout my career and it is disheartening to see this become a lost art in today's world. I just read a review in Yelp posted 3/11/2014 of the same type of complaint at Riemer. One of the owners even responded and said he'd bring it to the staff's attention so as not to have this type of customer treatment reoccur. I wonder if that staff meeting ever took place. I know that selling 1000 sq ft of flooring will not make or break Riemer Floors, but if anyone should ask me for a flooring reference, I will be happy to say I was greeted in a very friendly & helpful manner elsewhere (Harbor Floors in Keego Harbor) and they will more than likely get my business. In the end, though we couldn't be happier with our decision and the end results. The Riemer team took the time to go over in great detail every little potential option/consideration for our flooring needs. The measurements, the finishes, everything was first class. The materials came in on time, the delivery was professional, and the installers for our new hardwood floors were better than we could've hoped for. This company does nothing for customer satisfaction..they had my hard floor installed and their is lot of variation in the color of the floor, I called them and they r working with manufacturers on the claim for 6.months and I am calling them every month to get update, and after 6 months they r saying that there is nothing they can do..really bad experience and no empathy at all.. read more

I purchased flooring and installation in Dec 2012. I have now have 36 tiles lifting causing a trip hazard. I went in and made a apointment for their service team to come out at a cost to me of $75. Their rep came out explaining that I may have a water issue so I contacted a plumber and no there is no leak nor do I have an increase in my water usage. I went into the store again and spoke with the service member Ivy and was told I have to have them meet with my contractor. What ....they are the contractor. So....while I felt I purchased from a reputable place this is how they treat you after the work doesn't last. So having a lifteime warranty on the product means nothing if they don't install properly and to last. read more
