When I booked an appointment at RohaSF, I carefully read all of the bios for the available practitioners. I can't even remember how I was lucky enough to find Riena, but I'm so glad I did. I initially went to Riena for back pain, which cleared up a few visits after I saw her. I had back pain for years and years, with visits to chiropractors, physical therapists, cupping--all of it. However, after getting pricked by Riena, my back pain *intensely* flared up 1 day following my first appointment with her, which made me freak out a bit, but she emailed me explaining why that was occurring and assured me that it was completely normal--something that all M.D.s I had seen never really bothered to do like Riena did. Sure enough, my back pain dissipated a couple of days later and ever since, it's been smooth sailing. This review is long overdue. I've been going to Riena for acupuncture for over a year now, and leave happy and refreshed every time. I originally started seeing her to address some chronic lower back pain that flairs up from time to time, she was able to help clear it up much faster than I could ever do myself in the past, and what's better is that I haven't had another flair up since. Riena is fantastic, one of my favorite acupuncturists in the city. She's very professional and at the same time caring. I've had a few wonderful sessions with her for my neck and shoulder pain and menstrual cramps. She listened to me carefully and was able to address all my problems during the treatment. She did moxa for me along with the needles, I found moxa to be highly relaxing and the heat felt amazing on the aching muscles. She sat with me throughout the whole treatment which made me feel comfortable and at ease. What I loved the most about her are not only her healing hands but the fact that she uses a combination of acupuncture needles, moxa, and massage to heal. I find the massage part to be extremely soothing as well especially for my neck and shoulder stiffness. I also love her office space, every corner is meticulously designed and well-thought-out. There are lots of living plants in the space making it feel serene and relaxing. I also enjoyed the organic Tulsi tea after my treatment. I have been using the same Acupuncturist for 5 years. She decided to go on sabbatical when I found out I was pregnant. Going to acupuncture during pregnancy has been highly recommended to me by both my primary care and Obgyn doctors. I had to find a new acupuncturist. I don't know why it's taken me so long to write this review for Riena but it is long overdue. Riena is an excellent acupuncturist. I suffered from tension headaches and anxiety. Before coming to Riena I couldn't relax even when lying in bed. My body would just stay tense and tight. After a couple of sessions with Riena, I felt like a new person. I was finally able to relax my body and let go of all the tension and worry. So...Riena is kind of magic. Actually she is. I went to her back in May after I heard about how she was able to help out some other friends whom I practice yoga with. I had a nerve issue in my index finger which was affecting my tennis and finally decided to give acupuncture a shot. I went a few more times and sometimes came in with other areas that I needed attention to and she has always been able to target that area really well. Riena has a very comforting presence and makes you feel right at home right when you walk in. I pretty much just tell her what's happening, where I need some attention, lay down, and trust her with everything. And then I come out warm and fuzzy and super chilled out. I initially went for some alleviation of pain from an older herniated disc injury but my personal healing journey with Riena became so much more than that. I've had issues with my knee for the past year and a half, and tried multiple people to try and help it (i.e. Massage, chiropractic, Pilates, etc) but all of that was very short term (after a few days the muscle tension and pain would come back. After one session with Riena I was not only able to walk on my leg comfortably, but the muscle tension and pain have since then not come back. I have seen Riena 1-2x per week since April for a variety of mental and physical ailments. I immediately (within 1 session) noticed improvements in my mood. I received a massage from Riena a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it was my most fulfilling massage to date. I've had maybe 2 or 3 different styles of massage in the past but none even compared to her style.
