Would give ten stars if I could! I love coming here. Me and my wife usually come on Wednesdays for ladies night and it's become a bit therapeutic for us. Most of all, we're glad to be back in Texas, in a pro-2A state. My experience here is essentially broken into three categories: Store: great sales on optics, lots of promo days, and very fair prices, especially compared to other ranges/dealers in DFW. I've done an FFL here as well and it was painless. Shop employees are knowledgeable and friendly. The actual store is incredibly clean and I always feel like I'm in a James Bond movie in here. Range: 25 and 100 yards. Would be nice if there was a 50 yard since I like a 36 yard zero and don't want to pay for the 100 yard range all the time, but I get it, and the fact there are plenty of 25 yard bays shows they genuinely care and encourage gun ownership and creating a non-intimidating environment for people who are new to it. Lastly, the range officers are great. They strike the right balance between keeping everything orderly without being overbearing. They're happy to provide occasional tips or share knowledge as well. Instruction: I've taken two classes here. The basic AR and most recently, intermediate handgun with Patrick. Both classes were great and I felt like the value was so much more than the actual cost of the class. It's about 45 minutes in the classroom and around 2 hours in the range, which is awesome. Other ranges will be the opposite and you will barely get to shoot. The instructors have been absolutely awesome, especially this last intermediate handgun class I took with Patrick. I have so much more confidence in my skills now and genuinely had a blast in the course, pun intended. Definitely one of my favorite places to shoot in DFW. Highly recommend! read more

I wanted a very hard to find Colt M4A1 Carbine SOCOM with a 14,5" barrel, and this place had it. I wanted a good Red Dot and these guys had a wide selection, they recommended the Aimpoint Pro (which the military used). Very experienced staff, I mean REALLY knowledgeable. This place is 5 minutes from me, how did I not know about them? Word of mouth says it all. If you want a Cabalas of gun shops, this is it. The next morning they walked me through zeroing the sight. 1" groups at 25 yards, not too shabby. read more

Brought 3 handguns with 15 magazines and holsters in to trade for a new handgun to upgrade. This place would not negotiate/barter at all. It was here is what we'll pay for the trade and what you'd owe. They wouldn't acknowledge anything. Didn't help the sales guy had no personality, was like talking to a wall. To me, this isn't a real gun shop. DFW is huge, with lots of gun shops that want business and will negotiate, my advice is take your business somewhere else like I did. read more

Incredibly rude staff. Cannot be bothered to show you anything and you get an eye roll when you ask for them to open a display so you can see one of the rifles. Go elsewhere. There are much better gun stores with much nicer staff. These guys are some of the most arrogant idiots i have ever encountered in a gun store. They know almost nothing about what they are selling when you ask specific questions (they couldn't figure out the model of an AR when its clearly printed on the box and rifle for example) and yet act like they know everything about shooting no matter what you ask them. Came in today and felt like I walked into gun heaven! I've visited a few gun stores around Plano, Dallas, and Richardson and nothing compares. I needed help as a first time gun buyer and the wait was less than 5 minutes. Duncan was so helpful and knowledgeable running me through the grips and advantages/disadvantages to each manufacturer and answered all my questions on training and plans for my gun journey. I ended up getting a tti combat for the lowest retail price and saved me $200-300 and shipping hassle. We even looked at building a custom p320 sig and how astigmatism affects different red dot sights. All around 10/10 and can't wait to come back to the range and get him to help me with my ar10/15 or galil build! read more

BACKGROUND: We recently moved into the north Dallas area and I saw this huge store from the highway one day and vowed to return as I've purchased from this company in the past. Of note, they have a store in Fountain Valley, CA, which I've never visited but I know I have had some stuff shipped from that store to me in the past. SERVICE I'm gonna keep it short and sweet: Tyler treated my wife so patiently and professionally that she actually felt great after we left the store. Having seen all the anti-Asian American violence in the SF Bay Area, which we escaped by moving to TX, we decided to buy a pistol for her asap. Since we didn't know what could fit her small hands, we stopped here. Tyler was patient as mentioned above and showed us 5 different in-stock pistols. We are pretty sure we know what we'll get, but Tyler made the recommendation to take a Women's Beginner class first and try out a few pistols to see which one works for her. She'll be doing that soon. SELECTION As a former Californian, it was like those movies where the betrayed action hero gets his pick of the litter of guns off the walls. The store is very clean, well laid out, and their range appears to be well organized as well. RETURN VISIT? Yes. We intend to not only buy our pistol(s) there, but get trained, and get our CCW there as well. read more

Rifle Gear has a decent selection of guns and accessories. The staff are friendly and helpful (once your name is called.) However their process of checking in to receive help- needs help. Me and my wife stopped by to pick up her online purchase. We waited about 30 minutes for her name to be called. I get that they're wanting to help in the order customers walk in, however, when three employees are standing around, aimlessly pacing the store and there are customers waiting, it can be frustrating. Management should point out to their employees that the laptop check-in is a guide but ultimately common sense should tell you if customers are waiting, ask customers who is next and proceed with assisting. This was my first experience with shooting and the staff has been so helpful when it comes to guidance with shooting technique or at the checkout counter renting guns or buying ammo. Justin P, the gunsmith, is fantastic, I just signed up to take his LTC class next month! Luis is also fantastic and super helpful when I was purchasing ammo for the first time and he didn't just try to upsell me when I was clueless. The facility has a state of the art range for shooting. Staff has great people (very professional and helpful). This place is great. I've recently been scraping together parts to build my first AR-15. I finally completed it and needed to take the inaugural shots through it and sight it in. The range was very well maintained and they use an electronic touch screen to throw the target out to 3, 7, 10, 15, 20, and the longest length in the pistol range section 25 yards. If you want anything in between, you can customize your yardage. On the range there's an in person range helper making sure everyone is being safe, and in my case, the range helper noticed I was trying to sight in my AR 15 and gave me some very helpful tips on how to sight in my Vortex red dot. He was extremely nice and not pushy at all. I actually really appreciated his help being a little nervous about my first AR. He helped me approximately sight it for 50 yards. Very cool! Also shot my carry glock 43 and my plinker Ruger 22 pistol. The staff was incredible nice and genuinely concerned about the safety of their customers, the range was state of the art and air conditioned, and I had a great time! The pricing for the range is pretty good too. This'll be my new go-to range. read more

Was in town visiting and brought a few firearms to shoot. While there my GF's dad decided he wanted one I brought with me and these guys handled the transfer very professionally and thorough. Their rental options also impressed me and I'm most impressed with the cleanliness of their facility, the staff's knowledge and ability to ensure a safe and fun experience, and the stores overall selection and options of firearms and accessories. FGC would have scored just as high but their inventory was no where close to what RifleGear had. Oh, and the price was incredible too. See you guys soon! I'll be a regular when visiting! read more

I have been to RifleGear several times, and I have been quite impressed every time .. so much so that I just recently joined as a member. The first time I visited, I took my son-in-law to purchase a Ruger PC Charger. They got us setup with optics and a folding arm brace, and ran the background check promptly, and the whole process was pretty painless. We then proceeded to the pistol range, where one of their RSO's helped us to dial-in the red-dot optics. We spend the next hour shooting the new Ruger as well as my M&P Shield 9mm. Super friendly and helpful staff. I brought my sister there a few weeks ago to shoot for her first time, and again the staff was very helpful and friendly. Also, they made quite clear that they were very keen on safety in every aspect - she was impressed. I joined their membership club, which is great (for those who want to shoot frequently and bring guests) .. very economical that way. Arriving at 1PM on a Sunday, will bring about a wait, as it is pretty popular on weekend days, however during the week .. I had my pick of shooting lanes. This is climate-controlled, quite modern, and has touchscreen controls for the target holders. They supply 2 targets, however I now always bring along a handful of my own too. Friendly staff cleans-up spent brass .. just a great experience every time .. highly recommended!!! read more

Not to be trusted! There are too many good gun stores in the Metroplex to even consider this one. I made a purchase of an accessory and attempted to return it unused and was refused a full refund. They stated their return policy has a restocking fee yet this was never disclosed prior to my purchase. I spoke with an associate and a manager and both refused to do a refund, they offered me a gift card instead. Fortunately, I paid with a credit card so I will get my money back but it's incredibly disappointing to see a store with such a lack of integrity. I even reached out to the owner but she never even returned my call. Who knows what other policies they may or may not have and never disclose until they are trying to rip you off. As a business owner you are allowed to have any policies you want, but, not disclosing those policies prior to taking someone's money is dishonest and deceitful. Buyer beware. My boyfriend and I went into RifleGear as first time purchasers. We were so kindly greeted the second we walked through the doors and the sign in for purchase/information was super easy. Only waited for about 10 minutes as we browsed through the store. We were helped by Alexander. We explained to him how we knew nothing about firearms and didn't know where to start. Alexander went over tons of information on what would be beginner friendly and had some great suggestions. A staff member who seemed to be newer asked him if he had a second and he told him no because he was with US. The staff member asked if we could take our conversation over to the front desk so he could walk away for a second. Alexander repeated that he would be a minute. This proved to my boyfriend and I that we were important to Alexander and it would be an inconvenience to move our conversation over to the front desk because he had about 2 guns out on the countertop. We ended up purchasing some product and are very happy with the customer service we had got from Alexander. read more

Hands down, my favorite gun range in the DFW Metroplex by far. Safety protocol is on-point, and the establishment is always clean and well-run with plenty of staff. The staff have a ton of individual expertise, and the training classes are entirely legit. I took the NVG Beginner Course with Bryce Hudson, and it was worth every penny. It was a full hour with a NV/Thermal expert showcasing the major types of NV/Thermal, how and when they are used, practical application, and of course, hands-on drills with a NVG set in a blackout room. If you haven't taken that course yet, go ahead and sign up - it's more than worth it. read more

Did the LTC training with Kyle today and it was super awesome. It was truly eye opening to learn about the long term ramifications of shooting someone out of self defense. I especially liked the way Kyle discussed the situations where you should or should not use force and deadly force, whether to be a hero in aid of others and the potential impacts of criminal and civil courts. The LTC training turned out to be an excellent eduction into the personal, social and legal aspects of gun ownership in Texas, the wisdom imparted by Kyle is invaluable to any gun owners. read more

First time shooting here, husband and I came in so I could shoot a new gun I had gotten. Prices were good, 50% military/leo and $5 ladies shoot on Wednesday. They offer ammo if you're hard pressed to shoot thru any of your own, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. I was hesitant bc it's been so difficult to stock back up, but I knew I needed to shoot through a couple hundred rounds to get a good feel for it. Had a boiling hot brass go down my overalls and plant itself in my pant leg against my inner thigh. RSO saw what happened, sympathized and also very respectfully reminded me to place my gun down and did not breathe down my neck about it. Lanes are automated with preset yards and that was efficient, have a handy little first aid station that you walk through before you exit, bathrooms have regular and d-lead soap, super clean place and gun selection was good. They check all your ammo before you are cleared to go shoot and then you are given a lanyard with a door pass key with your lane number on it and each shooter gets a target. Over all was a great range, staff were friendly and pleasurable. My husband stepped out and took a call about half way through my ammo, the rso didn't hassle me or treat me as if I didn't understand what I was doing, it's unfortunate but often the case and it was not present here. The rso was definitely busy with a couple in the next lane and while wearing electronic ear protection I know that they had to go over safety procedures more than once as it was very easy to hear them speaking. read more

While I had previously shot at a range before I am still very much a novice and had not shot in close to 8 years. I went specifically to try out multiple handguns to look for one for home defense. My husband and friends suggested a few. When my girl friend and I went to shoot for ladies night I was a little nervous, but ladies this is definitely a place for you. Everyone was extremely helpful making great suggestions and providing wonderful direction on what I may like and the way to do everything myself without making me feel like a female novice. Evan helped both of us so much, made a suggestion on a different gun for me and it was an amazing suggestion and I actually purchased the gun Evan suggested.
