Well I signed up for a two week trial and we showed up and it was such a gloomy place not one instructor is smiling or even a bit friendly .... it's like a bunch of angry ppl or socially disconnected people. My son was ready to go as we walked in .... my son isn't bad or anything he is just a normal active boy. We did the long sit and listen to the instructor brag about himself session , then he kept going on and on about backing police and like police do no wrong when we ALL know police can be bad just like anybody else and my son and I did a small class. The lady they had us with was clearly still in training and didn't know what she was doing. After that we didn't get our two week trial, we got thrown into a office and was super pressured to sign up for classes because if we didn't sign up that day it was going to be so much more expensive to sign up , I went along with my husbands decision to sign up and it was the worst decision ever. My son never wanted to go to class and the more I went I understood why. I have seen great classes and students who get out on the mat and give it their all , great behavior from students who learn the art and love it..... Pittman Academy was none of that, everybody looks like they don't want to smile and they are scared to enjoy class. Paid the full price for the classes for a family of 4 and didn't go for no more than a month , if that..... me and my youngest son never even started..... biggest waste of money and time, wish it would have been a different outcome but nope. Sadly someone called me from the studio and I told him exactly how I felt, all he had to say was well you have a good day!!!! Pittman or anybody else who works there could careless why anybody isn't coming ..... it's literally been months and they just called lol. Worst purchase of my life .....

They've since simplified it within the 9 months that I have lived here, but it could be even more simpler. Second, the clientele are less than appeasing. I tend to cause like a sailor, but not in public. It gets old. Amenities: + cardio equipment on the top floor + free weights, plate loaded, and selectorized machines on the bottom floor + gym (the floor is lined for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, four-square & shuffleboard) + indoor track + lap pool + locker room + personal trainer available + racquetball courts (2 available... reservations also available) + splash pad + spa (for ages 13 years & up) + sports programs (adult & youth) + studio & wellness classes + turf (soccer, flag football, ultimate frisbee, & golf) + water slides (4' & taller) My girls have participated in the volleyball classes here which were okay, but not very competitive. Just this past weekend (5/6/2023) I took the to the splash area for the first time area. Even though I declined to swim, I was still charged admission ($4 for the entire day). My 8 & 9-year-olds were charged $3 apiece for entry. In the splash area which is completely indoors, there are two sets of bleachers and multiple individual lounge chairs and side tables scattered all around. Free parking.

The gym had a lot of equipment that you don't commonly see such as the slants for squats and a donkey calf raise machine (not the sole purpose but made it work). The instructor was warm and welcoming, and the class itself felt good physically. The best part was the extended savasana -- she offers gentle hands-on work and a relaxing foot massage finish that was a standout touch. The group was friendly, and if you're looking for a slower, stretch-style session, this format may appeal to you. The class I attended was all women, which created a quieter, more intimate feel, though I'm personally more used to mixed and more varied class environments. There were a few disconnects between expectation and reality. Communication ahead of time was text-only and delayed, and arrival was confusing -- Online it's stated to arrive early both in website and class pass but the door stayed locked until just before start time. The space feels more like a converted room than a dedicated yoga studio, with brighter lighting and a fairly sterile atmosphere. The class was described as heated vinyasa, but it leaned more toward a warm gentle guided stretch, and the temperature (around 89°) didn't feel like a true heated vinyasa flow -- I didn't sweat and didn't need my mat towel or sweat towel. Mats and towels are extra if you don't bring your own and there are no showers or changing areas. After class felt rushed as the building was locked up quickly. Overall, not a bad experience -- just not the right match for what I was expecting -- about a 3-star visit for me. Note ; this studio is located in the back of a dentistry business and the yoga room is inside the wellness clinic , an offering for patients but open to the public.

However, I can say that Rock Solid is about as good as they come. We've had our daughter at a couple different gyms and so far this one is the best. She is 4 -- (so far) she doesn't want to be competitive or pressured to do riskier things, and this is largely why we like Rock Solid because while they are very competitive in some of the programs, they also let the kids have fun. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful with the little ones. You get a sense that they actually enjoy the time they spend with the kids and that is worth alot. Unlike other gyms in Lubbock, the entire building is air conditioned so parents and kiddos can enjoy the time more comfortably. The only thing I don't like about RS is that the sight lines are the greatest. Because of the way the building is oriented, it can be difficult to see everything your little one is doing. Since they rotate around, this is not a huge problem but something that can get on your nerves.

We had to move our infant from the place she attended, and I was on guard when touring this place. The staff was patient and answered all my questions. My child has now attended DBS Kids close to three years. At one point, we had some issues but as soon as we talked to a director, they were instantaneously addressed. My favorite part about DBS Kids is how deeply the teachers and teacher aids care for the children and connect. Every teacher we meet when walking in or out of the building knows my child's by name (no matter what age group they work in, they know all the kids' names). She gets lots of hugs, likes going to daycare and is all smiles at pick-up time. I am often amazed at how much she is learning in spite of having some developmental delays due to an underlying medical condition. It is obvious that the teachers interact and talk with the kids. They are intentional in their curriculum and interactions. Finding childcare we can afford was difficult. Finding high quality care we can afford seemed almost impossible until we found DBS Kids. I would recommend DBS Kids to any family.
