I spoke with two electricians who were either mystified by the situation or gave me bad abduct. Will came up with a plan to use the power supply from the intercom system for the transformer. He also installed a chime box and custom built a wood plate for the camera (the electricians told me that I would have to do that on my own and would just install the camera hanging by its wires). After looking at the problem, the technician said that he could fix the problem and do a general diagnosis of our electrical system for a $500+ fee. Given that he was already in our house and we had several other bids that we turned down, we agreed to this ridiculous fee. The work was done well (probably took 15 minutes); he then suggested that a number of our plugs in the house should be replaced and gave us a bid to do this work for $13K. I will not be using this company ever again. My suggestion: if you use this company, get the pricing up front and be prepared for outrageous fees....even by electricians' standards.

Despite removing the second item, we were still billed the full original amount. 2. Substandard Workmanship The installation in our garage was sloppy and inconsistent. Sockets were installed at random, awkward heights that did not follow our instructions. More importantly, the wiring coming out of the breaker box cuts across the corner instead of following the wall. Because the cable is floating in mid-air rather than being fastened flush to the studs, it is impossible to install drywall over it. Conclusion We now have to hire a different contractor to fix these mistakes. We cannot recommend their services.

Since I was in no hurry, and didn't want to spend a fortune, I contacted several different electrical contractors - two who provided an estimate over the phone (you know how that goes once the job starts) and others who wanted to charge a minimum to come out for an estimate (I declined those). Ultimately I had five bids in hand from reputable electrical contractors (per Angies List, Yelp, and/or BBB.org). Rocket Electric was my last estimate - they were the most reasonable (and met my budget). Marcus (owner), came out to do the estimate and was extremely knowledgeable on how and where to place outlets to limit drywall and exterior damage, along with keeping the exterior looking "clean" with no exterior tubing runs for wires. I was a bit hesitant with choosing Rocket Electric since there weren't many reviews on Angies List, and no reviews on Yelp (however later I found there are several on Homeadvisor.com), but I ended up taking a leap of faith and going with Marcus and Rocket Electric - it was a great decision. I don't normally leave reviews unless I'm completely satisfied, and in this case I was. Macus, the owner, arrived on time, had a great attitude throughout, and did great work within the time frame quoted. He was also very accommodating as we had a 2 and 3 year old napping and he worked around their sleep schedule to minimize the noise near their rooms. I would hire Rocket Electric again without thinking twice (and likely will this spring), as their rates, quality of workmanship, and attitude are 5-star in my book.

Didn't complete the 220 watt outlet just placed a cover over the empty outlet so it's useless. Also in the master bathroom they didn't do it to code for the GFI outlets. We are now having to pay another electrician company, drywall repair & repainting to fix these serious issues. They also placed incorrect fuses in my sub panel they installed. To say these are huge issues is an understatement. Being told we are extremely luckily our house didn't burn down was terrifying news.
