Dr. Riley is a thoughtful, kind and curious clinician. I highly recommend her practice.

I have always received wonderful care from Dr. Riley. Two years ago, realizing that I needed emergency care, she called ahead and within twelve hours after my significant other spoke with her on the phone, they rolled me back into my room after surgery. Pros: -Great location for me living in the Galleria area. Easy enough to get in and out. -Fantastic NURSE staff. Very friendly, good bedside manner, gentle and accurate blood drawing. -Typically good PAs. -The two times I've seen Dr. Riley in the 3+ years I've gone there, I've gotten a good vibe from her. She's down to earth, not frantic like many doctors. Cons: -The PA position seems to be a constant revolving door. I finally have one that knows my chart, and in pops a new one. -Reception/Office Staff are beyond RUDE. Customer Service is obviously not of great importance here. -SO SLOW. I get called back fairly quickly. And I usually have my vitals checked pretty quickly. But then I wait and wait and wait and wait for a doctor, or PA. -They don't really listen. They form their own ideas of what's going on and tend to stop caring about what you think/feel is going on. I get that they're the pros... But seriously, who knows my body better than me?? All in all, it's not a bad choice if it's a convenient location... But it's definitely not the best experience I've had, medically speaking. read more

I've gone to this practice for about 1 year. Very true, have not ever actually received the appointment with Dr. Riley, always the PA's. They are both extremely nice and helpful but it makes you wonder if there really is a Dr. Riley... The front desk staff is always negative. They seem upset that you are there. They won't say anything outright mean but their attitude is just like they are dragging along. I am really considering changing doctors mainly for this reason. I've been going here for over 5 years (and multiple times a year) and every time I hate it then I love it. I absolutely hate dealing with the admin staff. They suck and obviously hate their life. Especially Teresa. I've met Dr. Riley once for like 2 minutes and I had to ask to see her just to know she was real. All the medical staff are cool. I wonder why the Dr. hasn't fired her front desk staff and gotten new ones? They obviously give the location a bad reputation. I can deal with "snooty" but down right "bitchy, hatred and ugly"...no thanks. Went here for a couple of years and never once met Dr. Riley. The doctor that did take care of me was great but it wasn't enough to make up for the worst administrative staff I've dealt with. I also received bills for things my insurance covered like others have mentioned. Dealing with their staff was a monstrosity through the process. A regular doctors visit shouldn't be as hard as they make it on top of not even meeting the doctor. Their staff is a little rude too. I and my girlfriend have found new doctors. Moving can be stressful. More stressful than moving, though, could easily be finding a new doctor. Such was my predicament. But thanks to the wonderful gloriousness of teh Google, I found texasmedicalboard.com and, ultimately, Dr. Lizabeth Riley. Tucked away at San Felipe and Voss, Dr. Riley is everything a doctor should be -- open, good bedside manner, willing to have a conversation with you rather than spending 5 minutes with you, and with a great office atmosphere. I was able to get an appointment very quickly and Dr. Riley spent 25 minutes with me at my appointment. That just does not happen anymore. She seemed genuinely concerned about me and made me feel immediately comfortable. Her staff and nurses are just as pleasant and helpful. She has her own website with a patient portal where you can go to get all of your appointments, test results, etc., online. Do yourself a favor and run, don't walk, to see Dr. Riley! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I have insurance that began April 1, 2014 so as of mid March I began to look for doctors. I made my 1st appointment here for April 7, 2014. They called me 2 days before & had to reschedule it for whatever reason!! OK Fine, no problem so we rescheduled me for april 14, 2014 at 3pm. I did all of my new patient paper work online but still showed up 20 minutes early. I get there & the RUDE GHETTO CHICK at the front desk is looking at me as if I have done something!! I asked her if there was a problem? In her most unprofessional GHETTO THUG voice said "WE AINT GOT NO APPOINTMENT FOR YOU!!" WTF WTF WTF..... I have taken off from work & driven in this rain for this????? I let her know the automated phone message called me 2 days prior to confirm! Once again Mrs. GHETTO THUG with the most awful attitude I asked to speak with the guy that I have been dealing with to make both of these appointments named "JERMAINE JACKSON" YES..... I said Jermaine Jackson.. LOL Then I find out they do not even know who that is!! I was talking to someone in a CALL CENTER!! REALLLLLLLYYYYY????????????? I left very angry & confused. I called the call center & spoke with the client manager, she said from my description of this woman she is THE OFFICE MANAGER!! They called me back 2 days later to reschedule my appointment & I said please make sure you actually have me down for appointment & no mistakes this time. Mrs. GHETTO THUG got nasty with me on the phone & said "it's not my fault what happened" I said I understand, but please no errors this time. The doctor is very good. The staff that I dealt with (receptionist and office manager) was not what I would hope for. Other staff have been nice and professional. I was refereed to Dr. Lizabeth E. Riley by a friend with a warning to watch out for the office manager and the front desk staff. I was told that the Doctor is great if I can deal with her staff. Unfortunately, I can't deal with unprofessional rude and ignorant individuals. The office manager Kacynthia is very unprofessional and gives very bad reputation to this practice. I wouldn't recommend this doctors office if my life depended on it! I'd much rather pay a RediClinic. I've been here 3 times in 3 years and have never seen Dr. Riley, you mainly deal with her staff. You begin to think, is there even a doctor here! The staff are rude, unintelligent, unprofessional and have no compassion. It doesn't even matter to them that you have a history with them, they treat you like it was your first time. I'm having issues with my Asthma and they told me the appt would be Monday, really! I will not be coming to this location again. The admin staff is horrible, they don't know their jobs and you NEVER see Riley. I was so-so about this location, only went because it was close to my house. NOW since they have joined the Houston Methodist Hospital, I'm always getting bills for items that I've never had to pay before. I actually received a bill for a freaking physical...which is free with my insurance!! I went to complain and once again the admin staff didn't know anything about it. I call the billing location and they told me that they coded the item as if I went to the actual hospital, instead of in-office visit. This was my final straw. They can't even do simple x-rays in this location. Won't ever come here again. read more

I chose this doctor's office because it is 1 mile from where I live. How can you beat that? I have been going there for almost 1 year and have never seen Dr. Riley. I seem to have been assigned one PA, which isn't so bad. However, this particular PA seems to want you to come in for extra visits and come in to go over your test results. If that was the only way to get information from them, I wouldn't mind so much. However a visit is pricey, even with insurance and the office has a pretty easy website (portal) that allows two-way communication. So I think that I will insist on results via their portal again. I haven't had a huge problem with the staff as others have mentioned, but I will admit that they aren't exactly warm. As I don't go to the doctor regularly - except for annual visits (knock on wood!), I have no problem returning. The location is just so easy for me. read more

Absolutely beyond terrible. The staff is very curt and polite, no one will return a phone call, instead they insist you use their patient portal, which does not function properly. They also insist on unnecessary multiple office visits; I believe this is merely to generate income. To sum up: rude, unprofessional and completely profit- driven. Like everyone else, the staff is rude and openly discusses required procedures and billing within hearing of the entire waiting room. I came to her to continue to get the medications I have been taking for years. She only wrote the prescriptions I absolutely needed and wanted me to return two months later. Am I a cash machine? I work some distance from her office and don't get paid if I am not at work. She made several referrals to other doctors that included a cardiologist that did two expensive tests only to discover I don't have the arteries of a man a third my age and a dermatologist that does mostly plastic surgery and prescribed Dr Sholl's wart medicine for acne. What good vetting of specialists! Avoid her if you can. She also charges the same price for her PA's as her. read more

I decided no better time to write a review then after you have been waiting on hold for 15 minutes. Negative experiences; 1) The office manager was extremely rude and impatient. 2) I was given a test that was never requested or confirmed that I needed. 3) I have been billed for another test that I was told was covered on my insurance however now I am being billed. The kicker....I did not even receive results for it. 4) Each time I have visit I have been seen by a different doctor seems they may training within the facility. 4) After calling to verify why I was billed incorrectly I was told conflicting stories...seems that they are fraud and are not helpful in correcting the situation as well as running me in circles and not providing any support instead telling me it is the insurance fault and then will not answer any more questions. I would never recommend anyone to go here. Matter fact I would tell others to run far away. PS. I was just placed on on hold again it has been a total of 25 minutes now that I have been on the phone with little to no help. Positive; 1) The nurses that take my vitals are always great. read more

I have been a patient here for two years. In that two years, I haven't seen Dr. Riley once. I've only been visited by PA's. I am not complaining because the two PA's i've dealt with have been very helpful and pleasent. The missing stars however are for the office staff. I hate to have to leave this practice because of the staff, but it needs to happen. The professionalism is a bit in question as is the customer service. I was once told I couldn't make a payment because, "the girl that does that isn't here." I have also made appointments, only to show up and they were never scheduled. As I stated before, the PAs are very nice, but the office staff could use a tune-up. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Riley's for years. I loved seeing her (or her PA, Sara) before they joined the Methodist Group. Now I can't get an appointment and I can't even talk to anyone at the actual office. I called today to get an appointment and the first available for a general check up is on 9/2 or 9/9 (and today is 8/8). And they only told me 9/2 after I complained about that being over a month away to see ANYONE. I used to be able to log in and message with a fairly quick response (24 hours) as well. That isn't the case anymore. I am so sad because I think Dr. Riley and Sara are both wonderful. The new system however, is not. read more

I cannot recommend this practice. While dr. Riley seems like a nice, down-to-earth doctor, why go to her practice if you never get to see her. It seems the office policy is you only see the doctor if you need acute care, otherwise you are stuck with the PAs. That does not work for me. I want a medical relationship with a doctor, not a less-trained PA. Period. Second, the staff is rude and incompetent. That is an immediate turn-off as soon as you check in. You've got to be kidding if you think you will keep patients coming if the staff is rude to you as soon as you open the door. Unfortunately, even when I confronted Dr. Riley about the rudeness of her staff and the incompetency of her PA (yes, incompetent), she refused to listen and completely defended her staff. Since she refuses to see the writing on the wall, my family And I are going elsewhere! read more

OK - If you go unto the "not recommended" pages - you will find my 5 star review. Why it isn't recommended makes no sense to me. Again - I was just at Dr. Riley's on Friday. I was really sick with some sort of intestinal bug. I called at 9 in the morning. She had an opening at 10AM. I got there at 10. I waited about 3 min. They did my vitals, updated my records etc... about 5 min after that Dr. Riley came in. We discussed the problem, went through my history, decided to do a series of test because there was no way to know whether it was viral, bacterial or a reaction to antibiotics that the dentist had prescribed. The lab gave me all the tests, explained everything to me and now I'm waiting for the results. I have serious health issues and I trust Dr. Riley and her staff completely. And my family has a medical background. So if mine isn't an informed review... I don't know what is. read more

I love Dr Riley and her staff. I transferred to her practice two months ago and have been treated very well. Ten of my family and friends have transferred to her practice and we are all satisfied. The location is great and convenient. She spends more time with me than any other doctor ever has. I recommend her practice to everyone. read more

What can I say. Service is just horrible and unprofessional. Just like the other review I have also had appointment miss-timed by them resulting in me shivering on the waiting area for 45 minutes in high fever and then telling me I was the one that was late. I now read this has happened to others too. Receptionist is rude and unprofessional, actually yells your name from the other room. So much for confidentiality in this doctors office. On the phone on hold for 10-15 minutes is not uncommon despite an emergency, worse than the DMV. Also never met Dr Riley in 3 years. We stayed there for awhile due to the office being a OBGYN for my wife's convenience but since she also had to hang up at the receptionist due to rudeness it is time to take our business elsewhere.....because that's what it is ... a business office. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Riley's for about 4 years now and I absolutely love her. I have never had any of the problems that other people are stating below. My only problem is that she (or Houston Methodist Group - not sure which) won't be accepting any plans from the Health Exchange website. This means I will have to pay out of pocket for my visits and any medical care I may need. I have referred many friends to Dr. Riley's office and they all love her and her PA, Sara Pike. None of them have ever said otherwise to me about the medical staff or the admin staff. I have never had to wait for an appointment when I have been sick and when I was having many appointments for re-occurring symptoms, Dr. Riley was there to consult with me and Sara Pike to get me healthy again. Overall I think she is a wonderful doctor and Sara Pike is wonderful too. They are always friendly and they have always listened to what I have had to say. Everyone has their own criteria for medical care as it is a very personal and important factor of life. I switched doctors many times until I found Dr. Riley's office. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Riley off and on for about 15 years. In the beginning things were great, this last visit, not so much. The last few years, as everyone else has mentions, revolving door of PAs. Ok, they gotta train sometime right? I get that, I can deal with that. However this last visit has drawn the preverbal line in the sand and I will not be back. I have an autoimmune disorder that attacks my thyroid, and has since essentially killed it. I made an appointment with the PA (cause ya can't get one with the actual doc anymore it seems) and went it to see if she would be willing to treat my thyroid with Natural Desiccated Thyroid instead of synthcrap- I mean synthroid. Not only did she tell me that there was no research on NDT (Um, hello, it's been around and successfully used for over 100 years now!) but refused to even attempt to seem like she was willing to learn something outside of her realm by refusing to even look at the book, written BY DOCTORS FOR DOCTORS on NDT. She refused to even give me a refill on my current meds even though I only had two weeks left. Ok, what ever, I'll pay out of pocket to go see the guy treating me PROPERLY for my thyroid since he's out of network for me now. She did at least agree to send orders over for the bloodwork the other doctor would like. I also brought up my ear and how it's been feeling full and I will occasionally get dizzy if I forget my decongestant. She said to let her know in a few days if it hasn't gone away and she would call in an rx for a steroid for me. Great! So I finally get what exactly the other doc wants and send it to her and let her know my ear is not any better. Not only does she not send the bloodwork order to Quest directly but instead MAILS IT TO ME, knowing full well I'm running out of meds over here.... But refuses to call in the steroid and instead tells me I need to go see an ENT. Basically their way of saying "Go Away" Fine, you don't feel competent enough to learn a new technique, I don't want you treating me anyway. I would have had no issue continuing to see the PA for general problems even without her treating my thyroid, but this long time patient will NOT be back. read more
