SummitView experience from a parent's perspective…read more Our experience at SummitView started with hope since the program was sponsored and supported by Kaiser mental health. For our child, the early days were filled with anxiety and fear as any new residential program but we were hopeful that safety and recovery would prevail. We were wrong! While the program provided structure, safety, education, and therapy, it was the therapy that let us down the most. Most residential programs have a well built structure in place, qualified resources, strong leadership, and programming that builds hope for your loved one. Unfortunately SummitView is severely lacking in most of the critical functions required to aid in recovery. There is little to no accountability or ownership for program outcomes. How Kaiser can continue to fund and support SummitView is a clear example of the degradation of Kaiser mental health services. Yes, I'm angry! Yes, I had higher expectations! Yes, our children deserve better! SummitView and Kaiser Behavioral Health should strive to do better by reviewing current mission, program outcomes, and the critical levers needed to build recovery sustainment.
