In a desperate attempt I checked Next Door for suggestions and came across Alladin Pool Services. Mark from Alladin promptly returned my call and scheduled a visit to confirm my suspicion. Shortly after he sent a technician to replace the old pump with a new variable speed pump. The install was quick and painless and they left my backyard clean. They also took the time to make sure I understood the features and operations of the new unit. Thank you Alladin!

So why am I giving the company one star? Because the owner tried to rip me off, and that's unforgivable. I asked Mark to have his guy take a look at my pool pump as it was making a noise that was getting worse. He said he'd come take a look himself. After coming out, he told me that my pump needed to be replaced and that the cost would be $2,950. That sounded rather pricey to me, so I started doing some research. It didn't take long to figure out that if I needed a new pump, I could get one, with installation, for about $1,800. But it gets better. Once I took the pump to an honest repair shop (Callen Pool Supply in Rancho, Scott is amazing!) it turned out the entire problem was a $25 seal that had worn out. The seal was replaced and the pump runs better than ever. At this point I called Mark once again to ask him if he was CERTAIN that my pump needed to be replaced. He said "yes, it does." I explained to him that I had repaired it for $25. He expressed ZERO remorse for trying to get me to give him $3K. None. He had the nerve to act like he had done nothing wrong at all. Needless to say that at that point I informed him I would no longer be needing his services. In addition, he also had the nerve to bill me $150 for coming out here and opening up the pump. Steer clear of this guy. He's also not capable of/unwilling to set up an auto pay. Wants me to hand over a check every month like it's 1995. There are so many better choices out there. My new guy actually charges less, and knows how auto pay works. Crazy.

My wife and I attended a Premier Pool Open House at their offices with the intent to just "to…read morelook". We met Jeremy and he gave us an idea of what to they do, what to expect, and some light design options from the showroom. He offered to visit our house to make measurements so that he could create some design mockups of possibilities. Within a week or two, Jeremy sent us a "first look". We asked for a few edits here and there given we had no ideas where we wanted to go with it as we completely leveled our existing yard and kept nothing. We were amazed by the first drafts given that we didn't think a pool would fit in our yard comfortably. Jeremy was extremely patient with the design iterations as we played around with ideas. The designs sold us and we were all in! Initially we thought it would take 6-8 weeks for permits to be pulled after we gave the green light to proceed. They ended up being approved in less than a week and we broke ground about week later. Premier was extremely fast with their team of contractors and subcontractors from demolition to full completion. From breaking ground to filling with water was less than a three-month turnaround. With several of those weeks the result of Christmas to New Year's vacation and time it takes for various components like decking or pool interior to cure. Premier was great with communication in terms of letting us know each morning who was coming on any given day. Usually we heard from Jeremy and our construction manager Teo a day or two earlier than Premier's automated emails on next steps. While Jeremy and Teo were clear, it was nice to receive the emails to make sure we heard everything correctly. Pros: Showroom has too many option to choose from! LOL! From textures to colors, there was almost too many. They even recommended visiting tile shops if we wanted to explore other colors. Jeremy was extremely polite and patient. He was readily available by both text and email for any questions we had. Teo was also great at stopping by to check on progress and see if we had any questions. He was also readily available by text message. We had them install a specialty BaduJet Turbo Pro. We pointed them to the website and they took care of all specs to fabricate the pool around it, all additional electrical work, and all additional plumbing. Recommendations for Premier: It would be great if some of the subcontractors were brought "in house" to provide full wraparound services. We opted to install tempered glass so that the pool could be enlarged and moved closer to the house. But we had to coordinate that on our own with a window contractor. We will use their subcontractor to install rock facades on our house. It would be great if they could have done in under the Premier contract at the same time they were doing the pool facades. I get it, they do pools, not houses. Premier took care of all the electrical, water, and gas hook ups that were related to the pool. We had to work with a couple of the subcontractors on the side to add additional sprinkler lines and move some electrical wiring on the side. Those also would have been great if it was done under the Premier contract as well. Premier's contractors and subcontractors obviously knew what they were doing so they pool just kind of came together. It would be great if Premier had a larger portfolio album of actual photos of pools so that we knew in advance what we were getting. We "trusted the process" and it all came together, but I could see some clients desiring to know more in advance. We subcontracted out the construction of a custom kitchen island because Premier doesn't build them (again, because they build pools), providing subcontractors provides another opportunity for Premier to be full service.

This was our first pool, so we wanted to make sure we selected someone who is a good pool designer…read moreand builder. We spent many hours researching and carefully reviewed all the pool builders in our area. Many of the local pool companies had mixed reviews, even the pool company recommended by our builder had very mixed reviews. When I researched Jim Chandler Pools, all his reviews were all good, I even checked several different websites and those had good reviews too. Because of this we decided to give him a call to discuss our pool project and from the moment I spoke with Jim, I knew we had the right guy. He was easy to talk with and listened to what we were looking for in a pool, he gave us lots of ideas and options to think about before our first meeting. Jim went to our new home site to review the lot/backyard to ensure what we had discussed was going to work in our new backyard. Once we met in person to review the plans, he made recommendations in order to try to keep us in budget or as close to it as possible. When I called Jim's references, everyone I spoke with highly recommended him, they enjoyed working with him, said he was very professional, kept them up to date with the progress, and completed the project on time and in budget. During Jim's first meeting with the City's Planning department, he found out we had very expansive soil which is a problem when installing pools. Jim explained the extra costs when building a pool with expansive soil, it creates a lot of extra work during construction as well as a lot of extra cost to reinforce the pool and pool deck. To help cover the extra costs, Jim recommended some changes to our design in order to save money to help cover the unexpected costs as we did not budget for this type of problem. We were still over budget but some of it was the expansive soil and the rest were my fault . Jim would be on site for each step to ensure everything was done to his expectations. All the contractors Jim uses do great work, they are on time, very professional, and cleaned up after they completed their work. After working with Jim, I now know why the references I called spoke so highly him, he is a great contractor, stays on top of every detail, works closely with you during the whole process from start to end. We just finished our pool, took longer because of soil issues and Covid but we made it. We are very happy with our new pool; and look forward too many years of enjoying the pool. We are very happy we choose Jim Chandler Pools; he really enjoys his job and it shows with the completed product. I am sure there are cheaper pool builders out there, but if you want it done right then I highly recommend Jim Chandler Pools.

We had two separate repairs made on it, and it has held since the last repair which was last summer. Apparently some water got under the tile and continued to move through them, pushing them up. The tile work was warranted for three years, so there was no charge to us. The other issue is really a matter of design. The spa was designed at the same level as the pool, with water that communicates between the two. In the summer or when there is not rain, the system works fine, and the hot tub will be hot within about 30-60 minutes, depending on the outside temperature with almost no pool water coming in and cooling it off. However, as soon as the pool water level rises much at all (after just a couple of rains), the hot tub takes much longer to heat. At about $20/hour to heat it and more than an hour, it is not worth it to us. We checked with Jim about raising the level of the spa, and he checked with the builders and it is not recommended. We are very disappointed because the only solution is to spend hours draining the pool down to a normal water level. We had normal rains last year, and more than normal this year, but after five years of drought, it seems wasteful and we know that the autofill will just end up kicking on again when the temperatures warm up. So our choice is to not use the spa all winter or to discard all the extra water at a time when our water infrastructure is at a maximum level in the area. If we were doing another pool/spa combination we would DEFINITELY have the spa elevated to avoid this design issue.
