I had a Vegetarian Combo plate with a burrito, enchilada, and a quesadilla for $8! Wow! They also added spinach to my quesadilla with no charge. My friend got the Veggie Quesadilla and it was bursting with sautéed vegetables. My husband and other friend got combo plates and loved the ground beef filling - high quality beef and very tasty. Today my husband and I struggled to decide what we wanted for dinner so we decided to order carry out. We scoped out a few restaurants and ultimately decided on Rio Grande. We easily accessed the Menu through google by tapping on the menu tab under the restaurants google description along with the appropriate number needed to place our order. We dialed the number and almost immediately got an answer. We ordered the appetizer wings(hot) as something new to try. When we opened the container the wings were browned and crispy! The hot sauce for the wings was in a separate container. I thought this was great because it allowed the wings to keep their crisp and allowed us to add the amount of sauce we desired! We also ordered the tamales. This was a new experience for both my husband and I. The tamales were great size and portion. They tasted amazing considering I was unsure what to expect. They had a brown like meat gravy on top of them. (Again I never had them and didn't know what to expect) Personally could have done without the extra meat added on top of the tamales. Per-usual we ordered the usual -- steak fajita and loaded nachos-- amazing portions and great quality! If you don't want soggy chips in your loaded nachos I suggest to ask for them to be served on the side because they will get soft, fast. Once the phone was answered and the order was placed they said it will be "ready in 10!" 10 minutes for all that food! Faster than most drive thru services! When walking in, my husband said it smelt absolutely delicious and that the atmosphere felt nostalgic and snug. The only thing I undoubtedly regret not snapping a photo of our food to share with you! We will return and hopefully try some more 'new to us' menu items! read more

My family and I love this place. The staff is always kind and quick with service. It's always very clean. It is very popular and though the parking lot is usually packed, we have never had to wait to be seated. The chips and salsa are great and everything we have ever ordered was as good as any Mexican restaurants we have ever been in (and it's a lot in many different states). Their prices have remained very affordable and without cutting the portions. If you have small children or picky eaters, they are more than happy to accommodate everyone. The atmosphere is always very pleasant as well. If you're in Nitro, WV and want some great authentic Mexican food at a good price, I highly recommend it. read more

This is the best and most frequently packed Rio Grande location in West Virginia. Rio Grande is like most Mexican restaurants you'll find in other states and cities except that it's West Virginia so there isn't a whole lot of room for competition so these guys have become downright successful. I don't know if all of the restaurants are owned by the same company or family, or if some are franchised out, but there are over ten Rio Grande locations stretching from Charleston to Huntington. The Nitro location is one of the nicer ones, with a much larger seating capacity, a separate bar and generally friendly wait staff. Tons of people come here for dates, groups, parties, birthdays, proms, and so on. The drinks are notoriously heavy. The food is delicious. Only the Charleston location rivals this one. read more

Went here last night for a birthday dinner. Great choice. Atmosphere was good, loved the decor. The waiter was friendly, funny and provided good service. There were so many choices on the menu and all looked tasty. We munched on our free chips & salsa, it was very fresh. We ordered guacamole, it was excellent. Had a great flavor. We each ordered a different item from the menu and all were great. The food was hot and fresh and a big portion. The prices were good, lots of food for not a high price. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla which was cold. The server that brought out my dry rice and re-fried beans neglected to tell me that the plate he was handing me was extremely hot.
