Dripping this on the chips and my Mexican rice was my favorite part of the meal, Guacamole - the fresh diced tomatoes and red onion added crunch and flavor which I really enjoyed. Salsa - I'm a little torn on this. The salsa was fresh and flavorful but there is a different flavor here that I can't put my finger on that tasted different from other Charleston area Mexican restaurants of tried when in town. I also ordered the combination taco plate with Birria taco and chicken tinga. I wasn't expecting sour cream in the chicken tinga taco so I couldn't finish that. I tried to eat around to get the chicken but the sauce was not very good. This didn't taste like chicken tonga and I wouldn't order it again. The Birria taco also did not taste like Birria that I've had. This was more like beef roast on a taco with toppings. It wasn't bad and it wasn't good but it also didn't come with consume which was disappointing. The sides were rice and beans and while they were ok, I was expecting more flavor and authentic Mexican cheese instead of the plain shredded cheese on top. This was very, very Americanized Mexican food but I think they know their audience. Whatever you do, don't order a Margherita from here. I should've learned my lesson about Charleston area Mexican restaurants the last time I was in town but unfortunately I thought it was just the other restaurant down the block. I'm convinced they use grain alcohol or some other very cheap liquor in these in some of the Mexican restaurants in the area. The flavor was way off and was definitely not tequila. I only had this drink on a full stomach and it gave me a headache and nausea the next day.

The restaurant itself is big and spacious with a large bar and lots of seating and a twelve table outdoor covered patio. I ordered the seafood enchiladas which are simply amazing!!! They are stuffed full of shrimp and topped off with fresh guacamole and a black bean and corn salsa which provides that little kick without the burn. It's served with a side of cilantro rice, which is tasty in its own right. The service was impressive right from the start. I had a very nice and sincere hello and welcome at the front door. My server was attentive without being over bearing and and answered all of my questions. This place is on my radar for my return work trips to the Charleston area. 5 stars because they wouldn't allow 6 stars.

My kid, Nathan, and I went over to get a very quick snack break before we went back to the mall. Nathan got the chicken tenders and the fries while I got some other food (mine is not as important as his). When the kiddo's chicken came out, I was REALLY disappointed. The tenders were built like his arms! Meaning there was little to no meat on that chicken!! Even though it was only $8, it was some $8 chicken tenders that could have been bigger and better than whatever the hell those were. If Rocas wants people to come back, their food should be delicious, meaty, and fresh. Anyways, the fries were super good like Chick-fil-A's.

The inside was definitely super cute and super clean. The food was OKAY. I am Filipino so I know what Filipino food should taste like and I don't think this place hit the spot. The food didn't taste bad by any means, but definitely not Filipino flavors. The pork in the fries was definitely the best part of the meal - crispy and succulent. My beef bistek was just lacking in flavor. The carrot and onion slaw was SO sour. There was barely any pork in my partner's bowl and just kind of tasted like soy sauce. This place was also kind of expensive for what it is. Definitely try it if you want but just know you probably aren't getting authentic flavors.

Food was great. We enjoyed eating here two times during our 4 day trip. Their jasmine rice is so good I could eat it plain every day. I had the Loco Moco bowl from the brunch menu. It was delish. Rice with a burger patty covered in a sausage gravy and a runny yolk egg. Sooooooo gooooood. Super flavorful with a kick of heat. The rice, as I mentioned, was fabulous. We had the pork belly bao buns and second visit we had the shrimp ones. Second visit we also had the lumpia. Buns were fluffy and each protein was flavorful and topped with a bit of slaw type veggies. Amazing!! The lumpia were nice and crispy with decent amount of beef/pork filling. Husband got their version of corn beef--Karne Norte. He enjoyed it a lot. Loved the music; light 70s during our visits. Restaurant is clean and pleasantly decorated. If I lived in Charleston and not just visiting I would eat here every week.
