They were always there to give us toilet paper when we ran out and answer our questions. We didn't get to see them much since we were out and about, but the few times we did they were delightful. -There was a delicious restaurant (Kasalta) and beach (Ocean Park Beach) within walking distance. -Though the area wasn't the best, the gates all locked and only the guest had a key to unlock the gates and enter the premesis. -The rooms and beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. -The hot tub was delightful, warm, and a great place to relax. The not so good: -The area was a little sketchy. People hanging out on street corners and playing loud music all night. -The air coniditioning was a bit TOO cold, even when we had the knob switched to "off". But I'm sure if you just ask them to help with making this more comfortable, they will. -There was limited parking and one time, we had to park a block down on the sketchy, dark street. The other nights though, we got there just in time to see another guest pulling out so we could take their spots. Overall, we liked this guest house a lot. The area does seem a little scary, but right down the street a few miles is San Cristobal and Old San Juan. It is also very close to its own little beach. If you stay here you must eat at Kasalta and get one of the delicious sandwiches and a sweet treat too!

This is a very large resort with four-story buildings. Regular condos on the first and second…read morefloor, and the third and fourth floors are two-story condos. The resort is a large, long rectangle with buildings running down each of the long sides, and a variety of pools going down the center. There are actually five different pools, all configured differently. All have shallow, wading areas for children, and one pool even has a zero entry section. One pool has a long, lazy river, another pool has a big slide. There are no hot tubs that we could find. All the pools have sunny areas and shady areas. However, each pool are has only two lounge chairs, so we brought our beach chairs each time. Each pool area does have a covered seating section with tables and chairs if you wanted to eat, and restrooms. At the top of the resort, near the guard gate, is a mini putt course, and tennis courts. At the far end of the resort, there was a large grassy field if you wanted to play soccer or something, a sand volleyball court, some basketball half-courts, and then the locked gate to the beach. You must have a key to access the beach. The beach is fairly nice, about 100 yards wide. There are lots of shady areas, and lots of sun. The water is fairly clear, only a few rocks but they are farther out so aren't really a problem. We stayed in a second floor condo. It had three bedrooms, and two baths. The baths are very small so I could see it being tight if you had six people staying in your condo. They have nice size kitchens, a dining area and then a TV area, plus a very nice outdoor patio. Every condo comes with assigned parking spaces. When you first check in, they put a wristband on you at the guard gate. You must wear the wristband the entire time you stay, which was a little annoying, but those are the rules. There is a convenience store and one or two restaurants right outside of the resort, but otherwise you will need to drive. Ralphs, a large grocery store, is a 10 to 15 minute drive to the east. You can get to the kiosk is in Luquillo in about 15 to 20 minutes, and can get to Fajardo in 30 to 40 minutes. From the resort to old San Juan, it is a 30 to 40 minute drive. We liked the resort a great deal, the landscaping is beautiful, the pools were great, and felt it was a great jumping off point to do a lot of sightseeing while in Puerto Rico. I would definitely recommend it if you were interested in staying on the east side of the island.

There are fruit trees everywhere and it is also pretty quiet. +Our room was small but had everything you need including a coffee maker and small kitchenette. Even better was the TV which had ESPN and all the US networks allowing me to watch a few football games. Free, fast internet. +Violet and her partner are super super nice. They go out of their way to answer any questions you have about the island and any logistical issues you have. She also goes out of her way to help people when things go very wrong- as she did when a couple arrived at the Inn even though their reservation had been canceled (no one was sure exactly why this happened). Vieques is pretty small and sometimes completely sells out- which is of course happened when this couple arrived. Violet personally kept looking until she found them a place to stay. She really is a class act. A few negatives - The Inn is a bit far out of town making transportation a very important consideration, Cars rent for $100+ (mopeds $55) so we elected for using the Island Taxi service,. Most of the time this worked just fine ($5 pp to most places) but once or twice required a 1 hour + wait and multiple calls to secure a ride. Just something to be aware of. -Not so much a negative about the Inn but rather Vieques itself. Be aware that that Vieques is a pretty pricey place- particularly for meals. Keep this in mind when planning your trip.

No food or liquids in one (including water), no food or drink within 2 feet of pool at the other. No floats of any kind, even if there's not another single person in the pool. And the worst, they're watching you on cameras and if you do something wrong you get contacted threatening a citation. This place isn't fancy and it's located on a noisy, busy road. I have never felt so watched and on edge to relax.

This was a reservation made through www.homeaway.com The location is great. It has secure access and a guard at the gate 24hrs/day. You can get to bio bay and the Fajardo ferry to Vieques and Culebra with a short 10min drive. The condo was clean and looked very well maintained. They really take care of all the small considerations too. There was even snorkeling equipment and beach gear available for use. Not that you would need it but the facility also has a couple of pools and a jacuzzi. The only complaints are that the power kept going out during the second night, which wasn't a big deal since the generator kicked in right away. Still a little irritating though. Also it was a little bit difficult to find. All in all it was a great value. I would definitely go back. By the way, if you do the bio bay tour skip the kayak and do the motor boat option. It doesn't cost much more and you get to see more of the bay, plus you don't have to paddle.

AVOID STAYING HERE BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!!…read more While I am aware of how hard the travel industry has been hit due to Covid it is saddening to see that customer service has been affected this greatly and my party and myself will not be returning to stay at Hix accommodations around the world. This is why... My party and I unfortunately had the worst experience when we stayed at Hix Island House in Vieques and strongly advise potential vacationers to book at other accommodations in Vieques (Such as El Blok). We felt that the listing on Expedia where we booked our stay through was very misleading since none of the amenities mentioned were actually available, such as the pool and yoga. The property felt like a ghost town with us only being able to communicate with the manager via phone as even reception hours were inaccurate. In addition, the only other guests staying at the time mentioned they received an email that the pool was broken and we were never communicated until we brought this up to management. To make matters worse, my friend had an injury happen at Hix Island House in the horse floor fence. While it had a sign to hold onto the rail, there was a pole sticking out of the wall that the rail was on which made my friend have to walk around the pole and have her fall through the fence. While we booked for 2 nights we only stayed one night after this ordeal and when we requested a full refund due to all the reasons above, the hotel through Expedia only approved a partial refund. Even after pleading our case to why a full refund should be given no acknowledgment/ at the bare minimum an apology was made by management of Hix Island House or Expedia.

We spent hours swimming in the ocean and the pool and enjoyed eating out at several cool restaurants, and got coffee every morning at a neat nearby coffee shop. We even took a horseback ride along the beach (the horses go into the water which was super fun). The folks at TC Villas made sure we had everything we needed - extra beach towels, a high chair and crib, etc - they met us at the villa and made sure we were all set and knew how to contact them for anything we needed. The villa had a private gated entrance which was nice. I absolutely recommend a trip here and using this company.

The property itself is older, but don't let that deter you. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which made for a very relaxing stay. I loved the balcony and watching the ocean from so close! Beautiful sunrise too. Check-in is more laid-back, so don't expect a traditional front desk experience with someone always present. That said, the communication was excellent. I really appreciated that they reached out via text ahead of time to ask about my arrival--it was a thoughtful touch. I arrived earlier than the standard check-in time (as I had mentioned), and there were no issues at all. When I rang the bell, a staff member promptly came out to assist me and greeted me with a warm smile. There's also a very popular restaurant and bar on-site with an amazing-looking menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to try it this time, but it's definitely on the list for our next visit. The location is another big plus--easy to find, right on the beach, and conveniently close to a Walgreens and other nearby beaches to explore. However, because there was Wi-Fi, we were able to use a streaming app on the smart TV. The master bedroom didn't have a TV. This apartment needs a make over. The beach isn't the greatest because of the proximity to seaweed. At certain times of the day, the seaweed invades the tide, depending on the wind. Other times, the seaweed floats east into a cove. Overall, I wouldn't visit again. I think better accommodations can be found a few minutes east for similar prices and better beaches.
