The reason I continued coming back was because my waxer Dolly, was wonderful. She was always kind, skilled, and made every appointment a great experience. Unfortunately, every interaction I had with the manager was the complete opposite. I didn't interact with her often, but each experience was worse than the last. What is most disappointing is that this is not an isolated issue. There are multiple reviews from other customers describing similar experiences with her. During one of our interactions, she told me she had been the manager for four years, and despite the ongoing complaints reflected in those reviews, the level of customer service I experienced never improved. For a business that relies so heavily on customer relationships, the way customers are treated at the front desk is just as important as the quality of the services being provided. It's unfortunate that such a positive experience with the estheticians is overshadowed by poor management. The final straw came when my services were canceled because of a private conversation I had with a former employee. That conversation was never made public, yet it was shared with management and used as the basis for ending my services. I found it deeply unprofessional to act on secondhand information from a private conversation rather than address any concerns with me directly. Rather than reaching out to discuss my concerns or taking any accountability for my repeated negative experiences, I simply received a message informing me that my private conversation had been shared and that I was no longer welcome at that location. There was no phone call, no conversation, and no effort to understand or address the issues I had experienced. If you're considering this location, I encourage you to read the reviews for yourself. My experience was consistent with many of the concerns other customers have shared. A generic, automated response to negative reviews indicating "you're looking into it" does not resolve the underlying issues or improve the customer experience. I can wholeheartedly recommend Dolly and the estheticians who provide excellent service, but my repeated experiences with management have left me unable to recommend this location.

I had a confirmed reservation under a 24-hour window, received a text at 1:35pm the day before stating my appointment was confirmed (no reply requested), then a separate store-sent text at 5:10pm asking for a YES/NO reply within a few hours. I missed that second text and my appointment was cancelled the next morning with a 50% cancellation fee charged -- despite already having a confirmed reservation. When I went in to discuss this with the manager, Talesha, her explanation was that the first text is an automated corporate message and the second is a separate store confirmation, and that since I've received these texts for years and it's all logged in their system, missing one was my fault. But by her own policy, this second confirmation request came less than 24 hours before my appointment -- so was I supposed to sit by my phone waiting to reply the moment it came in, knowing I'd already be inside the no-cancellation window regardless? That's not a reasonable expectation, and it doesn't match what actually happened on 2/27, when I only received the automated message with no store confirmation text at all, and wasn't charged. She also told me that even if I opt out of texts, they would force me back into opt-in so they could enforce this policy on me. I have texted STOP in the past and it confirmed I was opted out -- so either that was false, or they're overriding customers' opt-out status without telling them. Either way, that's a serious problem. When I asked for this to be looked into and showed her the message timeline on my phone, she called me rude and tried to end the conversation. Meanwhile, two staff members and herself at the front desk were loudly talking and laughing while I was trying to receive my service. Completely unprofessional. I've seen some bad reviews here, not sure why she's still there when so many customers experience her bad services and attitude.

I hope they can grow out fast so I can repair the damage.

If I could give Rio Wax Center and Cleidi more stars I would !!. My first wax ever ( a Brazilian also) was done at a horrible place in Rego Park. It was the worst experience I ever paid for. It was painful, took about 3 minutes, the woman was unprofessional and the whole thing was rushed , AND I was left with patches and stubble everywhere. I waited 3 months before considering giving waxing another try. It was horrible to say the absolute least!. Going into to my appt. With Cleidi yesterday had me tense, nervous, and expecting a similar experience. But it was the BEST experience you could possibly have during a Brazilian. Cleidi is professional, gentle, considerate, meticulous, comforting, and warm. The energy that she gives off truly soothes and relaxes you! And for me to say that means a whole lot. I would probably be the hardest client to relax. I was so comfortable as the appt. Progressed and I am just so happy I came to her. She left me so smooth and clean and no irritation! Which was also a huge difference compared to my very first time elsewhere. I can't thank her enough and I will be back monthly with no question. read more

What a great experience, generally waxing is an unpleasant experience, as it it both painful and very exposing, but Cleidi made sure to make the experience very comfortable, and did her very best to make it as least painful as possible. Problems: Skin ripped off/burned/scabbed for eyebrows and Brazilian wax, over charges, unsanitary practices & dishonesty My skin burned and ripped off for an eyebrow wax and also burned badly and was in pain after the Brazilian wax. The second to last time I went (picture included) the burn wasn't as bad as you can see. It still scabbed my eyebrows but I thought perhaps it was a fluke, my medication or hormones so I went once more (last time). I mentioned and asked her about her using hard wax or changing products and she said she did not. The last time my eyebrows instantly and painfully burned. I was almost in tears and splashing cold water all over my face. What really turned me off was, although she can be pleasant and nice, she has made rude comments in previous appointments but I let them go as I thought maybe we are just culturally different. This time (the second time she burned me and ripped off skin) and I was in pain, she was unsympathetic, looked at me with disdain with a mean face (as though I was overreacting when you could see my skin torn off) and blamed ME and my skin as being the problem. I was VERY understanding and kind about this and REALLY thought perhaps it was just me..until I read other reviews online. She has had this issue before and is irresponsible and doesn't take accountability and blames others. No cultural differences. She showed she's just not that nice of a person. Furthermore, as a test on myself, later when my hair grew out I had some hard wax at home (just a cheap hard wax brand) and decided to do a test wax to see if possibly my hormones had just changed a lot and my skin was too sensitive. I did this a day before my monthly cycle (when the skin is the VERY most sensitive) and used a cooling gel after just to make sure it was not reacting to wax OR cooling gel. Surprise-- not even HALF the pain waxing with this wax and ZERO burn, skin ripping off or redness. It was NEVER me all along and it was her and her awful products. I have never had something happen like that to me in almost 20 years of waxing. I can accept mistakes but seeing others had the same issue and she is dishonest, doesn't take accountability and is rude is enough for me to leave this review. If anything else happens, I'll edit and update my review. Also, here are some things she needs to improve: A) Her prices.. she shows as charging $35 for a Brazilian and $5 for eyebrows.. $40 total... yet I was always charged $65 (and had no extras).. her pricing list needs to be updated and clear.. it's like she just thinks of what she wants to charge you and charges it B) She re-dips the same stick back into the wax about 20-30 times. How is this sanitary? This means that we are essentially being exposed to dozens of other peoples' germs and bodily byproducts, etc. C) It would be nice if she stepped out of the room to give a person decency to get dressed again. Not the biggest deal but would be a nice touch. All in all, I will not be going back there. I looked up another waxing place with great reviews that describes their wax ingredients and, although a few dollars more, I went there and had a nearly painless Brazilian wax, zero burn and no bumps... just another comparison that (AGAIN) reconfirmed it was never me that was the problem but was her and her practices. Update: It has now been over a week since I had my Brazilian wax done at the new place and I just realized I am still smooth with no painful bumps or flare ups. I got ingrowns after waxing with her all the time and really thought it was just my hair. By day 3-4 it would be bumpy and red. So this all really boils down to bad products and possibly technique but of course she blamed this on me and my hair type. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
