Got a good cut here the first time around. Cash only. Came back for a second cut a month later. It just seemed like everyone who came through the door knew the barbers. No sign in sheet as others have mentioned. No one greets you. Seemed like most patrons entered and proceeded to greet their particular barber and wait for that barber. When my buddy and I moved out to Northridge we were lacking a barber. We were planning to go shop to shop and find the place that was for us. We hit a one and DONE. Now my buddy and I go here every time and with the same people. But all of the barbers in here are just fire. My barber is Marisol, legit the best female barber, ever. Mari always cracks open a cold one for me and strikes up some awesome conversations, my friends barber Chris, is the exact same. I love the banter between these barbers here and it gives you that home barber feel without feeling like shit the minute you walk in for not knowing the crowd or the barber. They slid us right into the conversations. Now I plan out my visits to make sure I have time to sit and chill before rushing in and out to just get a haircut. This places prices are pretty reasonable and PLEASE tip your barber--this is their livelihood. There are some weeks I can tip better than others, but they take care of you, you should return the service! Mari and Chris are especially good at what they do but the other folks in there look just as slick. I found this place for my brother since he's been struggling to find a barber due to his previous guy retiring and selling his business. His first visit was great. Fair price, and a job well done. He was excited and thought he found his spot! He went back 4-5 more times but recently told me about a problem that seemed to get worst with every visit. Guy after guy would just walk into the shop, give the barber props or a little handshake then he'd skip him ahead of everyone who was already waiting. When my brother asked what was up the barber would state "They had an appointment". My brother then asked if he could book an appointment for his next cut, the barber said "Yeah". He later called to schedule an appointment only to be told "Sorry, we dont do appointments". So basically they straight up lied to him. My brother isn't the type to argue or "Speak to the manager". He just realized this place doesn't appreciate his business and would prefer to move on. After reading a few reviews it seems to be an ongoing issue here that hasn't been fixed and sadly probably won't be. read more

Oscar definitely knows how to get down with the taper. My Barber of 16 years left the country a few months back and I've been on a mission trying to find a new barber. I've tried a few spots in the valley and damn did i miss my old barber, luckily I saw a few pics of Oscar's work on yelp and decided to hit him up. My first time walking in the shop everyone was welcoming and all smiles i sat down in the chair and expressed my frustrations with my experiences I've had in the past few month and Oscar promised me he will try his best to make sure i become a regular client. The first cut took about an hour but that was only because he knew i was picky and made sure i was happy with every step he took. My second time here it only took about 30 mins but it looked just as good as my first cut did, if not better and he definitely pays attention to details. I heard about Rios from the company I buy my beard products from. I needed a first trim/shaping on my new beard, so I decided to try them. The shop is in a small strip mall and if you didn't know it was there, it would be very easy to miss. Inside is clean and there is plenty of seating while you wait for a barber. When I went, there were 3 barbers working and it took only about 15 minutes until my turn. The barber I got worked with me to get the exact cut I wanted for my beard. He made sure to check with me before cutting more to be sure that's what I wanted. When he was finished, I had exactly the shape I was after. The only reason for a 4. star rating was the mis-information on their price board. According to the board, a beard trim was $10. What was actually charged was $15. While that's still reasonable, a customer seeing the price board could get upset and not come back just because of that. Would I recommend them for someone needing their beard trimmed? Yes, I would. When it's time for another trim, I won't have any problem coming back again. read more

I've been getting a haircut from Miguel for over 20 years. I started getting a haircut with Miguel when he first started as a barber in the early 90's. I moved out of The Valley for several years and moved back in 2011. When I moved back to the area, I couldn't find a decent barber. They'd always mess up my hair. Coincidently, I found Rio's a few blocks from my house. When I walked in, I was surprised and happy to see this place was owned by Miguel. I've been coming here since then on a weekly basis.
