My son wanted a new look for his hair, so I searched Yelp for good barbershops in the area. True Barbershop popped up, and I'm so glad it did! I called early in the morning, and Eric answered the phone. I explained that my son was looking for a style that would suit him, and Eric told us to come on in. We booked an appointment for later that afternoon. Eric did not rush the process at all. He took the time to listen to my son, understand what he wanted, and create a cut that perfectly fit his face shape. He even taught him how to style it so he could keep the look at home. A few days later, my son forgot how to style it, and this is where Eric truly went above and beyond. Not only did he send us a YouTube video, but he also took the time to FaceTime my son personally and walk him through the styling step-by-step. I have never come across a barber (or really anyone) as kind, patient, and dedicated to their clients as Eric. I gave True Barbershop multiple chances because my first couple of visits were actually decent when it came to the haircut. What wasn't decent was the "Haircut & Facial" service. The description advertises a haircut followed by a facial that includes a black mask and facial scrub for a full facial cleanse. On my first few visits, I booked and paid for the facial, but it was never actually performed. I was still charged the full price. After I left a review, the shop responded and offered a refund and although I appreciated them responding, I declined the refund because, at the end of the day, I still received a haircut and I'm not the type of person who tries to get free services. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was my worst experience. I honestly don't know whether it had anything to do with my previous review, but this was by far the worst haircut I've received there. My previous haircuts here were much better and As for the "facial," save your money. It is not a facial. The barber simply rubbed a facial scrub on my face and wiped it off with a towel. That was it. There was no black mask. I also specifically asked the barber not to put any product in my hair, yet I still walked out with product in it. It felt like he was trying to make the service seem more involved, but it wasn't what I asked for. One thing I will acknowledge is that after the service, it seemed like the barber wasn't going to charge me. Regardless, I insisted on paying because I'm not looking for free services. I paid the full price and still left my usual $40 tip. I genuinely don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially after giving a business multiple opportunities I simply believe customers deserve to receive the services they're paying for. If you're advertising a haircut and facial that includes a black mask and a full facial cleanse, then that's what customers should receive. If that's no longer the service being offered, the description should be updated to accurately reflect what customers can expect. read more

I usually go to the barber every 2 months, but I felt like shaking 2024 up by growing-out my hair a quite a bit longer than usual. I had a business-casual event that I wanted to use as an occasion to change up my current look. The place that I normally go to hadn't been picking-up their phone & I didn't want to run the risk of walking-in only to find that there would be no availble spots. I referred to good 'ol Yelp --which brought me to True barbershop. I went with Caly because she had more compatible time slots - I'm about a 35 minute drive with traffic. You book your appointments on their Vagaro App - which is super convenient b/c you don't need to rely on anyone (receptionist) to set it up. Mind you, I could have walked-in (but again, not wanting to taking any chances on waiting if it's not necessary). That said, Caly is quite possible one of the sweetest & most-attentive barber / stylist that I have ever come across. I told her what I had in mind & she "understood the assignment" 100%. I even made a request for my preference of "scissor over comb" & she was more than happy to accommodate. She was very careful, methodic, & mindful, the whole way through. She knew exactly what she was doing & was sure to make sure that I was happy as she progressed. I will most definitely be coming back & requesting Caly specifically. Fun fact - she trained at the very place that I used to go to for the past 15 years, which more than reassured me that she's quite possible one of the best barbers that I have ever had - and I promise you, that is not an understatement. Payment can be directly with her (there's a small fee if you opt for credit card). Rest assured, the price is more than worth it. Good haircuts don't come cheap. Parents stay away from this place. Disappointing first experience. Took my 6 year old in on a Sunday afternoon as a walk-in without an appointment. The barbershop literally has empty chairs with barber sitting on his phone playing around but they refuse to take a walk-in. It's not about being told no or being rejected it's about how they treat potential customers and a little kid. Waiving your hand in front of your neck saying you have no time is absolutely not professional. Doesn't even bother to be courteous to a paying client that drove down to their shop. I have had the pleasure of working with Guillermo Betancourt since December of 2023. Over the last 6+ months I have watched him work as he meticulously tapers, trims, cuts and shapes my hair. As a Manhattan transplant (10+ years) I had my "go to" barbers/stylists, the last one for 8+ years. When we moved to Los Angeles, then to the Porter Ranch area, finding a barber was hit or miss for a good 3+ years. I found Guillermo accidentally, meaning, I was waiting for a cut at True, he was available, sat me down and listened. This is where many fail, they don't realize that a client's taste, and style may change, more importantly their skills needs to adapt to these requests to ensure that the client's needs are met. Guillermo listens every time I sit down, if it's the regular or its a new direction, he is patient and gets to work. I try to see Guillermo every 3 weeks, my hair grows fast but I do get busy and when I show up with a mop of hair, he uses his scissors, comb and clippers to create a finished product that gets the smile and nod of approval. Added bonus, Guillermo is reservoir of sports knowledge, if I didn't know any better I would have guessed he stepped off of First Take with Stephen A. Smith. I'm off to NYC for work next week. I have meetings with some heavy hitters within my industry.
