After seeing how thoroughly he inspects every inch of the house and how detailed his reports are I chose Tom to inspect a house I am purchasing for myself in Manchester, NH. It felt great to know I was getting the best assessment possible of my new home's condition. Aside from the inspection itself, Alpha is very easy to work with and has an easy-to-use online system for scheduling and payment. I highly recommend their services.

I hired Alpha Inspection for a commercial property inspection about 6 months prior to this message…read moreand paid approximately $2,000 for what I expected to be a professional and informative evaluation. After closing on the property, I discovered during the permitting process that the entire electrical system had to be replaced to meet building code requirements--resulting in an unexpected cost of approximately $52,000. When I contacted Alpha Inspection, I was told they "do not perform code compliance inspections." That response was shocking. The report I received largely consisted of observations that were already visible to anyone walking through the building and failed to identify or even warn about a major issue that led to a massive financial loss. For a $2,000 inspection, I expected far more than a surface-level report with no real value. Even more concerning is the complete lack of professionalism in their follow-up. After I spoke directly with the owner, he told me he would investigate and call me back. That never happened. I waited a week, sent a follow-up text, and still received no response. As a business owner myself, I understand that mistakes can happen--but ignoring a client after such a serious issue is unacceptable. This experience has cost me $52,000 in unexpected upgrades and left me with zero confidence in the value or accountability of their services. I strongly advise anyone considering Alpha Inspection to think twice and to hire licensed specialists separately for critical systems, because this inspection did not provide the level of diligence or responsibility one would reasonably expect.

That said, I thought the inspection was not worth the money I spent on it. Although the inspection yielded 42 pages of information, most of it was trivial, mostly for fluff. I understand that you have to list everything that is found, and take photos. However, there was a major flaw with building code that the home inspector failed to recognize. Because of due diligence on my part, I was able to talk with the seller about reducing price, even though it was never mentioned in the report. I was told by Hinet that they only report on existing structures on the property and if there are any issues with them. I was also told that if something was out of code, that was not their responsibility. Which I suppose I understand but there was a roof structure, which had less than a 2% pitch, where snow and ice would accumulate. This was never mentioned. State code states a roof must be 10% pitch in order to be in code. I informed the inspector that he was there on my behalf (kind of an A-hole thing to say but I'm paying him plenty of money to help me with this long term purchase) and I needed the report to reflect the true and honest condition of the pitch of the roof. It was like pulling teeth, but it finally got done. Long story short, I would be very cautious in using this company. I'm not saying stay away from them, but I think it's worth having a second company come by and look for such a large investment.

Consumer Beware! I had a home inspection done from Hinet…read more $425.00 was money poorly spent. The home inspector talked incessantly from the minute he entered the unit until the moment he left, rarely paying full attention to his work. He spoke, ad nauseum, more about his upcoming cruise than about the job he was performing. A few days after he left, I noticed all the screens in the unit were badly damaged, really damaged! Never once did the "home inspector" mention that to me, that would have been ethically the right thing to do, a courtesy. I then could have had the seller make the repairs, over $200.00 in damages. I called the main office and spoke to the office manager who was literally quite useless. I could have performed the evaluation myself and saved the money. This company is bad, check their reviews, and then look elsewhere. Don't waste your money.
