Consumer Beware! I had a home inspection done from Hinet. $425.00 was money poorly spent. The home inspector talked incessantly from the minute he entered the unit until the moment he left, rarely paying full attention to his work. He spoke, ad nauseum, more about his upcoming cruise than about the job he was performing. A few days after he left, I noticed all the screens in the unit were badly damaged, really damaged! Never once did the "home inspector" mention that to me, that would have been ethically the right thing to do, a courtesy. I then could have had the seller make the repairs, over $200.00 in damages. I called the main office and spoke to the office manager who was literally quite useless. I could have performed the evaluation myself and saved the money. This company is bad, check their reviews, and then look elsewhere. Don't waste your money. read more

This "inspector" missed literally TENS of thousands of dollars worth of issues that should have been caught and addressed by the seller but instead we now have to pay to fix. First and foremost, I bought a relatively new home (15 years old) and did not expect to find many, if any issues. That said, I thought the inspection was not worth the money I spent on it. Although the inspection yielded 42 pages of information, most of it was trivial, mostly for fluff. I understand that you have to list everything that is found, and take photos. However, there was a major flaw with building code that the home inspector failed to recognize. Because of due diligence on my part, I was able to talk with the seller about reducing price, even though it was never mentioned in the report. I was told by Hinet that they only report on existing structures on the property and if there are any issues with them. I was also told that if something was out of code, that was not their responsibility. Which I suppose I understand but there was a roof structure, which had less than a 2% pitch, where snow and ice would accumulate. This was never mentioned. State code states a roof must be 10% pitch in order to be in code. I informed the inspector that he was there on my behalf (kind of an A-hole thing to say but I'm paying him plenty of money to help me with this long term purchase) and I needed the report to reflect the true and honest condition of the pitch of the roof. It was like pulling teeth, but it finally got done. Long story short, I would be very cautious in using this company. I'm not saying stay away from them, but I think it's worth having a second company come by and look for such a large investment. read more

I am a first time home buyer and was recommended to use HI-Net by my realtor. I was super happy that he was able to fit me in within the 10 days laid out in my contract. I was told in advance how much the inspection would cost and what type of additional tests we could choose. Never pushy, just facts which I greatly appreciated. The company was also able to schedule a septic inspection during the same time with a local company. I loved being able to have both inspections going on at the same time. It was very convenient. On the inspection day, Jim was very prompt. Our appointment was for 8am and he was already there and ready to go before I arrived. He informed us again of the total and reviewed the things that he is licensed to inspect. My husband and I followed him as he completed the inspection. Periodically he would ask if we had any questions or would answer some common questions that people have asked in the past. This was helpful for me especially as a first time home buyer because I didn't know what things to ask. After the inspection, he said that the report would be emailed by that evening. Less than a few hours later, it was in my inbox. The report was long, but thorough and included pictures. He also included things like that the dryer we'll need to buy should be 3 prongs (something I would probably forget). Overall, this was a great experience and I would gladly recommend this company to other buyers. read more

I have had 5 home inspections in my lifetime and we decided to use HiNet on the recommendation of our realtor after being unhappy with an inspection from another company on a previous home purchase. Jeff was the inspector and he was professional, polite and extremely thorough. He pointed out a lot of helpful tips for maintaining the home and uncovered an issue with the fireplace. Setting up the appointment was easy, we were able to schedule within 2 days and the price was excellent at $514 for a home inspection and radon test. We hired this company as suggested by our realtor, The person Jim Gray did a good job at his inspection very informative and seemed very knowledgeable. During the inspection he tested the stove but not the oven (5 people in the room at the time and no one recalls him turning on the oven to test) any way we bought the house and the first night there we went to cook frozen pizza and the oven doesn't work. Make a long story short Called Hi-Net and they refuse to provide me with their insurance information so I could submit a omission claim and stopped all communications with me. read more

This guy came out to my house and loosened a wire in my electrical panel. He killed the electrical main in my home and caused my whole house to fill with smoke. I called, in a panic, worried for my children and my home. The owner proceeded on telling me how I shouldn't have a pellet stove if I have asthma. I don't understand how that qualifies as part of a home inspection? This guy left my heat on 90 and we have propane. My furniture was mixed, my towels were thrown on my bathroom floor and more. They need to show courtesy to the homes that they inspect. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I called for a home inspection and HiNet was able to fit me in the NEXT morning. I could not believe it. I had called 2 companies first with no luck getting in within the next 10 days. Bob apparently has "decades of experience". So why did he miss several issues with our new home that we hired him to inspect? We have tried to diplomatically get them to address an extremely leaky sink, chronic flickering lights, and sagging floors. They are simply not returning our calls anymore. Lisa initially said the sink would be fixed. I wouldn't recommend them if they were the only service available. Go with another agency. Don't go with a company just because your realtor "highly recommends them". Terrible experience with them. read more

Very disappointed we used these guys. We just had a recent Home Inspection with a different company on a house we walked away from after the inspection yielded items the seller wouldn't work with us on fixing. The other company was so thorough and easy to work with. Unfortunately they were unable to get out to the inspection on the most recent house we went under contract with. Our realtor suggested we call Hi-Net. Hi-Net had major communication issues among their employees. After making the appointment I had to change the time of the inspection due a schedule conflict. The woman I spoke with at HI-Net never communicated the time change to all those involved with the inspection, she also failed to update the order by making sure we have a water comprehensive test as I had requested when I called to make the change in time. Luckily the realtors involved with this home sale were very quick to jump on the phone to make sure we had a complete inspection. This company is more expensive and their reports are horrible to work with when reviewing items that came up in the inspection. They are more concerned about covering themselves with so many disclosures it makes it impossible to understand their report. Save yourself the frustration and go with someone else. Hi-Net was $100 more than the other inspection company we used a few months ago and the other company was far better to work with and overall better inspection. read more

We hired this company as a home inspection prior to purchasing our house. Their inspector seemed to know what he was talking about but when it came to details he wasn't accurate. We just had to replace our AC system due to their inability to be accurate. The inspector said that the AC system was totally fine and even though there was a dent on the top of the condenser from ice falling, it was purely cosmetic. When I approached them about the AC system not working well at all after our purchase their office girl was rude and only wanted to talk over me, they refused to call me back and as I found out they were wasting time till I had received a letter from them stating that it wasn't their issue and that they were just giving opinions in the report. They claimed in the letter to me that in a phone call that I had with them a few days before I had said the unit was "working", when in all reality I said that the system was "barely working" and had little air flow due to the fan not spinning efficiently. Do NOT use this company, what is the point in an inspection company when there is zero recourse for their mis-diagnosis of your important house items. I wouldn't have minded so much but the girl was just entirely rude and needs a serious customer service course refresher. Please use Tiger Home Inspection instead. read more

Wow ! I just had my new home inspected by this company and I couldn't be more pleased. I found the staff to be very professional informative and accommodating to my busy schedule. Regardless of the issues with my house, the entire process went smooth. they even did the water and radon test ahead of the inspection which sped up the results...I would defiantly use them again if I ever purchase another home. read more

Absolute worst service. Guys, please avoid, the nightmare I have gone through with these guys, I can't even put in words. Jim Gray came and did the inspection. I had few questions about this, everyone does, and was basically told that he won't be calling me. He won't even respond to the questions that the home owner has about the job he did in the house. What kind of customer service is this? The kind where after the job is done and the money is paid, home owners are totally and utterly ignored. And then they called after I left a vm after a month and basically told that Jim won't be calling and I can do whatever I want. Don't go through the nightmare I went through guys.
