I was a Rise Broadband customer for five years, and canceling my service was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had. After being a loyal customer for five years, I was charged a $50 "equipment refurbishment" fee--even though I provided my own equipment when I signed up. Charging customers to refurbish equipment they supplied themselves feels completely unreasonable. The cancellation process was even worse. It took me five days and more than seven hours on the phone just to cancel my service. During my final call, I waited on hold for over an hour before finally reaching a representative. When he asked to place me on hold again, I explained that I was driving on the highway and could not remain on hold. Despite that, he put me on hold anyway, forcing me to hang up and start the entire process over again. Loyal customers deserve better treatment. Between the excessive wait times, poor customer service, and unfair fee, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. I cannot recommend Rise Broadband based on how they handle customers when it's time to cancel. read more

One star rating only because zero is not an option. I don't know how they got an A+ rating with the BBB, but someone there must have gotten blown so hard they're still pulling their underwear out of their @$$. To say Rise Internet is the McDonald's of the internet service providers isn't exactly true. Dumpster diving would be more accurate and fitting when comparing them to the food service industry. They used to go by the name of Skybeam and their service was just as bad then as it is now. The largest source of their problems (other than methamphetamine addict being a requirement for employment in a technical role) is from them overselling the service and putting more (far more) customers on towers than they are rated for. The last couple of months I had service with this company I used my phone as a hotspot because when there was a signal the upload and download speeds were sub-Megabit. I was trying to change the password to the email provided by Rise. The process on their website was not working. I cannot remember the exact excuse they gave me, but told me in order to change it I would have to give them the new password and they would do it. Yes, they really think customers are as stupid as their employees. They were trying to get me to pay $9x.xx for the last month of service, which I didn't. I was hoping they would begin collection action so I could begin legal action. They never came an removed their equipment. Why waste fuel when you know it is malfunctioning and cannot be used on another unsuspecting victim/customer? TL/DR: Crap service from a crap company. First, let's start by saying their service sucks. I lived in a rural area where there were only two options so they are much the same as the monopoly system that was going on with electric providers in Texas until they got sued. Reliant I believe. Anyway.... thats only the start. They take advantage this way because you have two option really bad or worse than really bad and that's it. Also if you want to cancel service, you cannot do it online. You have to wait until hours that are not ordinary business hours and not on weekends either to try to cancel your service. If your work schedule doesn't permit then you are simply out of luck. And then your stick with the bill until you finally have a day when they are open to reach the department that will disconnect services. Do yourself a favor and just go with worse than bad. The service is probably very close to the same. We didn't have a huge improvement at all. In my opinion they need a class action lawsuit filed against them. read more

I have HOA and these people never mentioned anything concerning that. The technician suggested I get permission and I put in the proper request. Since it could be up to 30 days before I receive an answer, I requested my installation fee back. The money grabbing is obvious. A den of thieves that's what they are. It took Rise Broadband 8 days to send a technician out, only for the technician to say that Rise Broadband's towers will no longer be able to provide internet to my home. Switched from competitor for faster speeds, BIG mistake. I have ALL of my equipment routed through APC battery back up surge protection. After multiple visits once to replace wrong grounding block at dish, another time to replace poe and the last time to replace poe AGAIN. This time it was discovered that the tech that replaced the first poe decided to disconnect my APC surge protection unknowing to me. So when their poe went out again, it blew my $700 ROG ASUS GT-AX11000 Gaming Router! David Renshaw with VIP support decided they were not responsible. "After careful review, we have determined that Rise is not responsible for the damage to your router. Our Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices include internal grounding mechanisms designed to protect connected equipment from normal static discharges. Additionally, our technicians follow standard installation procedures, which do not require them to connect personal equipment." 1. They should of never disconnected my personal equipment! 2. It was not static, it was the poe going out and becoming so hot it burns to touch. If not resolved and owning up to their huge mistake, I will be cancelling. TBD.... read more

My mother has been complaining about my little brother staying up late to play video games and has it narrowed down to the fact that the connection is so unstable during the day he cannot play. Our phone calls and zoom meetings also constantly drop unless we are not on WiFi. I have called over 5 times now and have had to do their checklist of restarting everything and doing tests. Not a single time did my complaints of high packet loss and jitter get addressed and they were actually brushed off when I insisted on looking into it. I was told by an operator that there was a "degradation issue on our line but there is no ETA on when we will be out to fix it". Then the VERY NEXT DAY another operator said there was no issue. As long as your ping is below 100 and you get close enough speeds they do not care in the slightest. "Fastest and most reliable" only because they are the only ISP besides HughesNet in so many areas and they take advantage of that. 75 bucks a month for 100 download? For $30 dollars in the neighborhood over, where Frontier just laid a line, I can get 600 with 0 jitter and packet loss. They also told my mother that their router, a deco system that she has had to replace multiple times now, is faster and more reliable than a $200 Netgear router that we already had. I switched them out and the internet coming from the modem actually matches what is coming out of the router. These deco routers come with a fee on every single month's bill. I wonder how much kickback they are getting for providing arguable one of the worst internet experiences I have every seen. I even grew up in an area that didn't have anything more than 5 up and 1 down until I was in HS it was so far out in the middle of no where. Its appalling that 45mi from the capital scums like Rise have taken hold. read more

We are on our fourth attempt at getting Rise Broadband installed. 1st attempt - they send a teen out to tell us we can't get signal "MIGHT need a tower". 2nd attempt (tower installed) - No show, no communication - Scheduled for a day when no one would be home. I had taken a day off work to be home for the install. 3rd attempt - Two man team is required to install, teen shows up and tells us the guy who is supposed to climb the tower doesn't have his climbing gear 4th attempt - Teen shows up, climber doesn't. Teen leaves and they both return later. The "install" is literally drilling a hole through your exterior wall and pushing a wire through. They caulk around the wire. The most ghetto "install" I've ever seen. I'm told them to do the bare minimum install and that I would finish the installation myself, using actual outlets. Rise would not exist if there were any alternatives. read more

This is the only ISP and they are NOT good! Their initial install took 3weeks. The ho-hum tech was nothing but "We don't do that." He didn't have all the proper tools or parts to install according to our wishes. Then when we called a month later and the same twch came back out, now he had all the parts to properly complete the install. Now, 3 months later the "brand new" obsolete equipment has failed! In this day & age of 'Work From Home' their soonest appointment was 4 days away from 8a-12p. They have 15min left & I don't expect to see the tech till after 2p, if at all. I've had these guys for years and it's an ongoing battle. It's a direct line of sight dish that I have on the top of my house and it's decent most of the time, however it has frequent issues. I've almost never had the advertised download speed of 15mbs that I'm paying for, unless I call in and they flip a few switches in the office and magically I'm back up and running. They throttle your unlimited plan so after about the 2nd week of the month you will find that your speed is erratic and around 1-5mbs. Since my home security is connected to the internet the signal frequently drops out and the thermostat disconnects/reconnects and pops out an alarm. ADT has troubleshot it several times and this is the cause. I would never recommend Rise and word is getting around quickly with the Next Door App in our neighborhood, no new installs in 2 years here. Fiber Optic is a much better solution with NextLink for about the same price, higher speeds and 90%+ reliability. read more

I have been with this company since March 2022 and I have never had such bad service in my life. There has been a know tower issue since before I became a customer and it is now the end of August 2023 and the issue is still there. I stuck around because there wasn't many options in my area, but the service is so bad at this point, that is dropping almost daily and the bandwidth was already low to begin with. I'm damn near friends with the technician at this point because he came over so many times to an issue he still wonders to this day why it isn't fixed. I am supposed to get 50mbps download speed and regularly it's 12 or less. AGAIN it's over a year I have been dealing with this. For the first 12 months I called to get my bill cut in half because I am not getting at least HALF of what I have been paying for, and they were giving it up until the end of the first year. I have a permanent credit on my account because of the issue, but all I want is consistent internet. I can't stream tv shows and play video games at the same time because the internet is so bad. I'm waiting until tomorrow since it's the weekend so I can switch back to Legacy since I heard they have improved since the last time I was with them. You'd think a company would fix something so detrimental to their business. Zero stars if I could give it. read more

To start with I had them as my internet service for years and had many many issues. We always had problems with connections or getting any service, because the traffic was heavy on the tower, and the customer service lacked. Well I finally got fed up and followed all of my neighbors around me at the time and canceled my service. I was to be issued a refund but because their driver didn't want to bother coming by and picking up the equipment, on 2 different occasions, my "credit" refund sat there for a year because I fell ill and honestly forgot. Well I called to talk to someone and the representative was super sweet but the supervisor Well not so much. They've decided now they get to keep my money and they want their equipment back. Fair I think not!! Dear Rise Broadband, Your customer service is DEPLORABLE! I'm tired of sitting on hold for ridiculous amounts of time. On Wednesday, 04/20/2022, a technician came out to ensure that my internet antenna pole was secured to the tripod. He said that he secured the pole and that everything was working. I did not check because I was in a hurry to go somewhere. When I returned home, I discovered that I had no Internet. I called and asked that he return to correct the issue, but the call-taker said that I would have to be placed on a waiting list for another appointment. Why couldn't he have just called the technician, ask him to turn around, and return to my house to correct the problem? We are in the age of technology. Anyone can be located at any time. Everyone is reachable. I work completely from home, and the internet is my livelihood. No internet means no income! I know that this is a very difficult concept for you to understand (really, a person with less than a GED should be able to grasp this concept)--or perhaps you're so independent that customer service is a disruption of your cushy day. In any case, I am SICK OF RISE BROADBAND, and I will be sure the let others know how deficient, nonchalant, obtuse, and simply substandard you are! Please accept this as my account TERMINATION, and come take your router, dish, and pole. When you access the roof, I have a silicone pad to place between your ladder and the gutter to prevent damage to the gutter. Please do NOT place your ladder directly on the gutter. Not only have I personally inspected my new roof and gutters, I also have pictures of it in its new condition. If the technician who will be coming to remove the equipment causes ANY DAMAGE to my new roof, gutters, or any other property belonging to me, I will take appropriate action. And I am NOT paying the service charge for the call on 04/20/2022. I had to call eight times to terminate the account. Really?!?! When I was finally able to speak with someone in the Cancellation Department on 04/21/2022, she said that she could "have someone come out right away". Why was that impossible the previous day? After they left i did get a auto call from risebroadband following up on a tech showing up to work on our speed for the internet. I never requested or called about our speed. I've had a satellite internet service for the past 25 years or so. Over the years it's been sold many of times, but Rise Broadband takes the cake. I had reception fade in and out, because a neighbors tree had grown so much that it was blocking the signal. So taking a day of work a technician placed my dish on an adjustable tripod. Then I was told I had to replace my router' because my old one couldn't receive updates anymore. I spend $70+ on a Deco and a technician had to come out to set it up for me. Yet another day of from work. Then my internet was down again and I pushed the reset button on the Deco. Customer service told me to NEVER EVER use the rest button (maybe the Deco should come with a warning label?!). It's for the technician only. So come to find out my dish wasn't getting any power (why???). My work schedule and their appointment availability weren't compatible and after being without internet for 3 weeks (btw...there was another billing cycle within those 3 weeks!) I switched internet providers. I was required to return my Deco and expected to get a refund for the no service time and some kind of refund for the Deco since I paid for it. A technician was supposed to come out and remove the dish from my roof. All this was going on in August/September 2022 and nobody ever showed up. Yesterday I had a roofing company come out and remove the dish from the roof and make sure I don't have a leaky roof because of it. I just got off the phone with customer service and yet another $225 that Rise Broadband has no intention of refunding. So once their technician collects the dish with the black box (?) I'll get my refund of $49.95!!! To sum it up: A very frustrating, expensive lesson to learn and I'd give them minus 5 stars if I could. read more

If I could rate 0 stars, I would. Connectivity is poor to begin with, but the real problem is their customer service. If there is a problem with their own equipment, it will literally take DAYS - minimum 3 - for them to come and look at the problem. Of course that's no guarantee they can fix it then. They still have to order parts or replacement equipment before any restoration of service can be completed. And don't forget to demand a refund for the days without service, because they won't automatically do that. They're unapologetic, as well. Especially if your job involves internet service from home, avoid them at all costs. read more

Since Rise Broadband bought out Internet America, the price for a simple E-Mail address has doubled and the service has cratered. They said they are increasing the quality of service by providing a more secure system and now it is so secure, I can't log on. Calling a service tech with Internet America would take less then 3 minutes. With Rise, it can takes at least half an hour. If I didn't have a 25 year history with my E-Mail address, I would not do business with Rise. The slow service provided by Rise makes ending this long history increasingly likely. read more
