Dr. Chae is the best chiropractor I've discovered in San Francisco. His practice is clean and welcoming and I found his holistic approach to chiropractic care both enlightening for the mind and body. I'm a runner and during my intense running seasons, I would seek chiropractic care for pain relief. Dr. Chae's adjustments are dialed into how your body feels when you visit so no two adjustments are the same. He will not work against your body. I've been seeing Dr. Park regularly for 6 years: since August 2019 and writing this now in September 2025. This is an overdue review partially to say how sorry I am for the people who left the negative reviews after 1 visit when they were lead to the door, opened it, backed out and left, when they were so close to experiencing treatment that could change their life forever just as it has for me. But I'm mainly writing this review to recommend him to anyone lucky enough to find that he exists and interested in experiencing the works of his practice. I can't say enough how much his treatment has improved my life, developments in my career, social life, well being and continues to help me maintain balance from regularly biweekly visits. From various traumas, anxiety and bad posture since a young age, insomnia in my late teens and 20s that I no longer face, spine and neck issues due to a bicycle accident, it wasn't until I started seeing Dr. Park regularly that I started to feel what could only be described as CLARITY. Unfortunately my experience with Dr Park was very similar to reviews from Paul, Sloane and others who found him to be arrogant and unable to handle or answer questions in a professional manner. In each of my two sessions with him, he spent about 30 minutes talking, 20-30 minutes of light touching and finger snapping, and 3 minutes of adjustment. During the talking portion, he would repeatedly ask me if I had questions, and when I did ask probing questions, he alternated between preachy soliloquies and condescending defensiveness that "I was asking the wrong questions". To give some examples, these were in response to legitimate questions like "do you have any recommendations for what I can do in between our sessions to make the most of them?" and "I see that you really focus on blending the spiritual and physical aspects in your practice, can you help me understand what I should expect what our sessions might look like?" His ability in physical bodywork seemed fine (for the total 6 minutes out of 2+ hours that I received). His spiritual shaman practice crosses the border of credibility. It does seem that he lays this on more heavily with some clients than others. I can say with confidence I've never had a more awkward or antagonistic interaction with a "medical professional" and am overall disappointed and confused by the whole experience. read more

Before coming to Dr Chae I had gone through years of therapy to treat depression, anxiety and ocd. I feel like I had learned so much about myself and the treatments of these diseases in therapy, but still felt so stuck and unable to integrate them in my body. Additionally I had a pattern of tension running through the right side of my body that no amount of yoga or exercise could overcome. Chae was able to quickly identify the issue and recognize the pattern, I had been to so many specialists and practitioners before and none of them were able to do so. As we worked to dislodge this pattern, the emotions and memories accosted with the tension also released. Dr. Park is amazing. He is so focused and intentional in his work and incredibly gifted. I started needing bodywork/chiro after I stopped in my mid 20's (wrestled since I was 4 years old). I read a few comments here that he's cocky or arrogant, but that is bogus. He just does not allow you to bring any BS into your own healing session. He controls the session for your own sake. I had been suffering from on-and-off again lower back pain from straining myself working out (stay away from kettlebells), and it got to the point where getting out of bed and bending over started to be challenging. I found Chae on Yelp and booked a visit. His office is very warm and inviting, and he had a very soothing and trustworthy air about him. Our first session went well and I kept coming back weekly. I visited this facility about a year ago and still feel uncomfortable after aspects of care I received. The first few sessions were great and healing but after a while if he was having trouble adjusting me, he would get really frustrated and tell me that I had to work on my "past traumas" without anyway on how to do that. I would ask what I can do in between sessions to improve or make it easier on him to adjust me and he wouldn't really offer me any recommendations. Today was the SECOND and last visit at Beacon. In fact, I walked out mid-session. Why? Because Mr. Park spends all his time observing rather than actually doing. He doesn't tell me before cracking bones and gets offended when I ask him to do so next time. Furthermore, any questions are met with resistance. He just can't handle inquiries like...why sensations are happening nor can he explain the why of what he's doing. It's like any discourse is a confrontation of delicate sensibilities making the outcome frustratingly difficult. If a doctor can't handle direct questions about the care he provides then the doctor needs to remove his shingle. To be frank. In an hour's time Mr. Park maybe spent 15 of it actually doing manipulations. The rest was simply wasted dead space. Truly this is a waste of money. Avoid him. I have now gone to Dr. Chae 10+ times, and he has truly changed my life. I am a traveling nurse, who upon arrival to the city was having daily back pain for close to a year without a series of other chiropractors being able to improve my pain or quality of life. This situation had been so defeating for me because I have been an athlete and healthy with no injuries my entire life, and this battle had been going on for so long and I didn't even know why. His adjustments are different than the majority, he works to clear energy pathways and find tension areas to focus on. I have been coming to this place a few times and kept not feeling that comfortable. While I admit he's ok at what he does the energy he gives off is that off arrogance. Today was my final straw, I haven't seen him in a couple months so when I arrived he was cold as usual, and when he asked me what was going on I was telling him a few tests I had and then he rudely interrupted me and went on to say he's not a doctor and can't just fix me. Yea, I know that but I am responding to a question that you had asked. I did tell him you asked me a question so I am answering you he then proceeded to tell me this was awkward? That his "patient" is basically making him feel awkward for answering a question... But gladly he offered to adjust me, so that he could take my money. I tried to just put it as a misunderstanding but I was clearly wrong, he barely did anything equal to an adjustment I laid on the table for one hour and I think he did 3 adjustments?! But at then end when I was going to pay is when I really could see his arrogance and type of person he was, I went to pay my fee as we previously had talked about and I had been charged everytime I have gone there, and he took my card, and as he was running it informed me he would be running it for $20 more because his rent went up!!!! Never asked, never informed me except as he was swiping my card, no signage present, even when I called the night before there was no warning to this "raise" in price??? Very unprofessional and arrogant. I thought his practice was about healing and helping as he says but clearly it is an arrogant sense and making others feel uncomfortable and over charging for it! Wow! Where do I even begin!? I've never seen a chiropractor before, but this time I needed to because my lower back was killing me after I sprained it. It was impossible to walk, sit, stand, move, sleep, anything. I was referred by a colleague and he put me in his schedule same day from 5-6pm. The forms were easy to fill out via computer, and there was parking right outside the practice! He saw me on time, and asked me a series of routine questions to get an understanding of my injury and history. Horrible experience. It sounded so good and he seemed to be very caring then the adjustment. Dr. Park told me to take a deep breath and exhale completely. Then he made a strong jolting push in the center of my back. I let out a loud yell. The next few days my back was really sore. I told him this and he said it was normal and that he would offer me some alternatives to Chiropractic if I didn't want to continue. Its been 6 months and my back is still not 100%. Dr. Park is not your normal chiropractor, and that's a really good thing -- but you need to be open to a new kind of experience. He spends a lot of time getting to know your body and feeling your energy before he does his adjustments, which typically come at the very end of the session. They are quick and very effective. I saw Dr. Park 3 or so years ago for chronic severe pain in my lower back. I could barely function and felt like my whole life was consumed by pain. Another chiro did nothing for me, but after a few months of treatment with Dr. Park I finally remembered what life pre-pain felt like.
