Very cute to see my son in the ninja classes (which they've recently changed the name), however I thought he would have gained more kills and body awareness from the class. It's not what I was expecting. We are going to check out him to Firestorm gym instead as they actually answer their phones. I find it very poor customer service that it takes 24-72 hours to hear a reply, or never. They rarely answer their phones, and I can't see the schedule/time of classes online. I'd like to suggest improving their website and customer service. read more

So glad they offer trial classes as that is the right thing to do to see if this place is the best fit for your child. My daughter was so excited coming here as she came from a diff gym and within 3 mins she was already crying asking for mommy. Three coaches and not one approached her nor batted an eye towards her to make her feel welcome or safe as she was crying. Perhaps these coaches need some child dev background ? Even when they were working with her they all looked annoyed. Its her first day for goodness sake and they really expected her to know what to do. All the other kids were returning and knew what to do so my child being the trial child, made them work I guess and the coaches face said it all. During water break my daughter said she was all done and didn't want go back. Thats how cold the coaches were to her she just felt like she simply couldn't do anything right. It's 8am, cheer up for the kids at least. I pulled her out before class ended and that was the first smile I saw on the coach's face that session. Really unfortunate. I saw other parents consoling their crying children too bc maybe that's just not within their job description I don't know. Building rapport with families should be a priority. read more

My daughter has been coming here since she was 7 years old. She is now 17 and still loves this place. If ever an issue, it is addressed and corrected. Parents need to allow their kid(s) to push themselves or get the available private classes if their kid(s) is starting fresh. My kids first time wasn't pretty but with time she acclimated. Kids will cry, it's new and "scary" so give the instructors their credit as they are dealing with more than one kid at a time. read more

I can only speak to the 5/6 yr old classes and similar to other reviews - this gym is expensive and not worth it. We were there for over a year and the jr. Classes were a joke. My 6-year-old daughter had absolutely no skills by the time I pulled her out. The instructors truly did not care. We even switched days and switched classes and we had the same experience with every class and teacher. I did give one star because their facility is clean. We have since moved to another gym and in less than a year, my daughter's progress has been unreal. She is doing cartwheels, has gained so much flexibility, climbing ropes, doing splits.... it's amazing. So needless to say, I do not recommend Rise Up. read more

Update - My daughter did Scats until 2020, and had to stop due to Covid. Scats is much larger and more professionally run. The staff there are well trained, current/past gymnasts, and they Coach top down, as in the professional coaches for the team, who then teach the younger gymnasts, and so on down the line. While we were there, my daughter definitely got stronger and you can see the competitiveness and motivation. And It really helped for her to see the other gymnasts working on their routine- and see what she can become, both short term and longer term, if she kept working at it. read more

At first this place seems wonderful for toddlers. Our 2 year old suffered 3 fractures on her foot when another child fell in her foot while they were on the trampoline. Not one staff member show any type of concern. My baby was scream/crying in pain but no one asked if she was ok. I emailed them and it took them several weeks to respond and they didn't seem too concerned either. I'm not quite sure if we should return at this point because it's been several months and after my baby being in a cast, she is still having issues with her foot. This place has NEVER followed up with to ask how our baby is doing. This place is only interested in your money! Stay away and do yourself and family a huge favor by not putting them in harms way at this money driven place! read more

We joined this gym for my daughter, who is preparing for cheer tryouts in the spring. The classes are crowded and it is hard to find a space, but once we were in, we were thrilled with the teachers and the staff. Very professional front desk and super easy to communicate with them. We are on a wait list for a couple of different activities, so make sure that you enroll early! This is great for ninja, cheer, tumbling and gymnastics at all non-professional levels. This review is for gymnastics for 3-4 years old. My daughter has been coming here for almost a year now, and after so many months of me saying, maybe it'll get better, I'm finally deciding to pull her out. My biggest issue was the instructors. They are very young, so I do feel like they lack authority and control of the classes, and because of this it becomes a safety concern for me as well. I sit there and watch while other kids are literally standing less then a feet away from my daughter while she's doing flips on rings or the bars and the coach says nothing. A simple, "please stay off the mat & wait your turn so you won't get hurt" would suffice, but nothing. There's no order, no structure, & complete lack of control. Even as a toddler in gymnastics, you should learn discipline. You should learn to wait your turn, to listen when being spoken to, and the proper control to become the best athlete you can be. And for sure my daughter wasn't being taught any of that. I know this is possible for children her age to learn, because when she goes to ballet, the instructor is much older, and she knows how to teach the kids discipline, my daughter is a complete angel in that class, she listens, she waits for her turn... Whenever we come to gymnastics, I see she doesn't listen, she runs around more, she cuts in line, & it's because the class lacks authority. I teach her to wait her turn, and no cutting in line, but when she comes here, all the other girls cuts her in line, even in front of the instructors and there's no correction being made. Then in turn, I see my daughter cutting too, because in her mind, she feels it's not fair, which I completely agree. A simple, "no cutting, get behind her, she was there first, wait your turn" would help a lot. Also, many times I have sat there frustrated along with other mothers, because the girls have no idea what they're doing, they do the same routine almost every week, so some days the instructor just assumes they know the rounds, so they'll just send them off to do the routines. "You know the routine right? Okay go". I sat with a mother who watched her daughter stand around doing nothing, and she had to tell her daughter to go tell the coach to show her how it's done. And the coach would see kids doing nothing, and they would say nothing. We would have to flag the coach down and ask them to show our children how to properly so certain things. I'm paying you to teach my kids, I'm not getting paid to have to show you how to do your job too, so please get with the program. All in all, if I wanted my daughter to run freely and play and do whatever she wants, I'll pay for her to go to an indoors playground--- it'll be much cheaper than this gymnastics tuition. Just a heads up if anyone planning to join this gym do a trial first and keep an eye on your children's safety & their instructors. Hopefully this reviews helps this facility to teach their instructors to be more helpful to these little kids & help to teach them proper safety protocols. read more

Jay-Vaughn is the absolute best ninja class coach we have had! My son had him and when he took a leave of absence he was so sad he was gone. This is the first time my son has loved coming to a sport. So glad Jay- Vaughn is back at rise up athletics. He runs the best classes because there is little down time, especially during transitions to areas. He keeps them moving‍ and always critiques the kids form when needed. This is why I feel he stands out from the rest of the coaches at rise up. Little girls were laughing at my daughter(5) and making her feel bad until she came to me and cried in the middle of class. We tried switching days but within the first 5 minutes she was crying because she didn't feel like it was a safe environment for her anymore. I wish staff would shut down bullying as soon as they recognize it. I would not recommend this place for little kids. read more

Based from my experience they are okey coz they have big facilities. Skills teaching little kids were not the best from the amount I'm paying. It wasn't worth it. Customer Service is the worst! They have someone on the front office but if you call you will directly going to the voicemail. "No live person"- even normal business hours. They will call back 2-3 days. That's annoying! I would give zero if possible, they canceled parents night out without notifying us. Kids were really disappointed. We were going out for early valentines dinner, but not now. Everyone is very disappointed and we had to put a credit card deposit for our dinner reservation. Very unprofessional I would not trust this place with your children. read more

Worst customer service ever. Once they took the money, they don't allow any cancellation or even give you make up classes for it when the session haven't even started yet. They ask you to keep paying every month to be active so you can have what you already paid for before. I go to a way better gymnastics now, but Rise up has the worst manager ever. Ok when I was younger I went to kidnastics at the old location. Fast forward twenty some years later I am now taking my daughter to the new location. My 4 year old loves coming to gymnastics! She is in pre beginner waiting for a spot to open up in beginners. Coaches are wonderful, very friendly, and at the end of the day they are very patient with children. If we miss a class they offer make ups which is great! Rise up is a great way for your child to learn gymnastics, meet new friends, and get their energy out! Overall, I'm happy with this place. I have both my girls here and they love it and have learned a lot in the year that we've been here. Sent both my girls here during the summer and fall for some beginner classes. They enjoyed their classes, but the program was just ok. I think that the coaches are teen/college students that goes over the basics with the kids on general tumbling, jumping, etc. In the summer, it's super hot and stinky inside. And depending on where you sit in the morning, the sun comes glaring in right onto your face. You literally have to sit there with your sunglasses on. On saturdays, it's super crowded. Since they make the kids take off their shoes (barefeet), they always leave with super dirty feet! I have to bring baby wipes just to wipe down their feet before they put their shoes on. Overall the place is not that clean. I guess that's what you expect when you have a million kids going through the place. I think that the prices are a little expensive! I don't know if it's worth it. about $86/month for 1 time per week for 50 minutes. I would rather keep the kids in dance or other activities for those prices. read more

Came here for my daughter's friend's birthday party and she had a blast. They had a bounce house, trampoline, and plenty of other fun things to do. The workers were really great and friendly. They even served the cake and food out for the kids, so that was nice! I'm not sure about their regular gymnastic classes, but for a birthday party it's worth checking out. I would recommend this place for younger kids around 2-5 as a birthday party option. It might not suite older kids. read more

We recently switched to Kidnastics from SCATS. I really like the smaller atmosphere of this place. All the kids matter, not just the serious gymnasts. I have been especially impressed with their tumbling classes. The teacher is very focused and the class is fun and challenging. My younger daughter just started the gymnastics class and she is enjoying that as well. read more

We've been coming to Rise Up since November 2021. We originally signed up for a gymnastics studio closer to our home (AGA) but they were not personable or caring to young students at all- it was a terrible experience and way too large of groups. Rise up is the COMPLETE opposite, they help out the younger kids to get comfortable and acclimated to this new setting. My daughter was hesitant at first to even go on the gym floor- but the coaches were so kind to her and Ms. J also encouraged her as well and would check on her too. By class number 3 she was loving it and still asks me everyday when its Thursday because she loves her gymnastics class so much- she genuinely looks forward to it every week-she even requested some gymnastics equipment for her birthday. The coaches of the pre-beginner/beginner classes do a great job of starting the group large with fun interactive stretching activities and then separating them into age appropriate smaller groups which we appreciate. Rise up has done a great job of making the environment feel welcoming for kids and parents and they do a great job of cleaning and sanitizing between each station as well. read more

If you don't have a child attending Los Alamitos High School and don't plan to have them in song or cheer at Los Al you don't belong. They cater to the locals! I spent $2,900.00 for a back walk over. Great location, nice staff, clean but you must stay on top and push management to pay attention to your child if they aren't enrolled at HSC or los alamitos HS you must watch and tell the staff that it's time your child moves up! First the Good: The staff is super friendly. I like the new remodel they gave the gym. The Not So Good: My daughter has been attending this gymnastic center for nearly 3 years already. Not happy with this gym for the time being. She's been in the same level for over a year and a half. Thinking of changing to another gym if I don't see results within the next month. The restroom are dirty most of the time. Hopefully things change soon so I don't have to take my daughter out of this program. read more

RIPPED OFF!!!!! My daughter has been enrolled for almost a year now and I THOUGHT it was a decent place. (I agree with the other posts that this facility is nice, teachers are good and kids are happy.) But then I tried to take my daughter out of the class. We paid for a full month a head of time (as required) but she missed a few classes due to the holidays. I explained that we wanted to remove her but she had make up classes on the books. They refuse to allow her to make up the classes unless we pay for ANOTHER MONTH and wont refund the unused yet paid for classes as an alternative. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that they would email him and I should "wait and see" if he calls me back! A week later and NO phone call, but I'm not really surprised..... read more

WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE WORKING WITH KIDS?!?!?!? I enrolled my little one so she could learn some basics, like cartwheels, simple rolls. She had an instructor named "Megan" who barley spoke and had NO enthusiasm. Maybe she's too young herself to be working with kids, or to be honest, I think she lacks a personality. She seemed totally uninterested the entire session, mindlessly walked them from one area to the next, and we stuck with it for 3 classes. After that, my usually upbeat child seemed bummed when talking about the place. One example that comes to mind - my child did a roll correctly, and was super excited, she ran to Megan saying "i did it, I did it" then got no "great" or "good job" or any positive reinforcement from Megan. I saw my child's shoulders & chin drop, it was sad. :( I hope I've saved one parent from wasting their money. read more

We came here for a birthday party earlier this year, and my four-year old son really fell for this place. We decided to check it out and here's what we discovered... 1) It's really a cool place to take your kiddo on weekends to get their wiggles out and meet new friends. 2) It's pretty dang expensive. 3) You can get a free trial, though. 4) It's in four week sessions, and you can opt out at any time. 5) There aren't any psycho gymnastics parents there (that I can tell, so far). 6) The facilities and equipment are really cool. 7) The teachers seem to know what they are doing gymnastics-wise; though, they are young and looked really baffled when one of the kids throws them off, behaviorally-speaking. We have been going for two months so far, and my kid comes running off the gym floor all sweaty, with a big grin on his face. read more

We have only been to Kidnastics on Tuesday nights so my daughter can use the open gym. She loves it and has a lot of fun. The gym is big and spacious and has nice instructors that watch the children on the floor and are very helpful if you need any assistance or have any questions. Soon we intend to enroll her in weekly classes as she wants to learn gymnastics, we think this would be the right to do it. read more

My niece has been taking classes at Kidnastics for over one year. She has greatly enjoyed learning tumbling and equipment skills taking two different classes a week. If you read through the Yelp reviews for Kidnastics you'll find the lower star reviews are written by people who had billing problems. I haven't experienced that. In fact, I've had a couple of changes in classes my niece has taken and figuring out the bill has always been quick and easy. Recently she quit her second class early in the month I had just paid for and Kidnastics credited my account and applied my pro-rated payment to my January balance. I'm not a gymnast and can't comment on the level of coaching and whether or not your child will become an olympian, but for our family Kidnastics has been a good experience. read more
