Our oldest daughter took a one-time class here with her Girl Scout troop. It was just one class, but I was profoundly impressed. Strong Dance is located in a strip mall on Walker Street in Cypress. There's plenty of free lot parking nearby. When you walk in, you'll most likely be greeted by a friendly person at the desk just to the left. The studio itself is deceivingly large. There are a few dance rooms and TONS of sitting room for parents and siblings. It's clean. And tastefully decorated with large framed black and white photos of their students with their dance biographies. Our daughter brought her own jazz shoes, but the studio also had some available for the girls to borrow. Ms. Esther was our troop's patient and enthusiastic instructor. All the girls seemed to enjoy her style of teaching. If we didn't live quite so far away, this would be a spectacular place for our daughters to learn and grow! read more

Two years ago I wrote a review about how true this studio was to its motto - Building Confident Kids. Now, I think the owner Rachel should consider changing it to "Building Confident Kids, and then Breaking them Down." Last season, after being at the studio for four years, my 12-year-old daughter was frustrated in class because she felt like she wasn't improving like she wanted to. She thought it was because there were too many girls being promoted before they were ready. I heard this same complaint from other parents. The teachers were great, but the over-promotion lowered the quality of the classes. I grew to believe that the focus at the studio was on the younger dancers, and that the promotion helped them feel motivated to stick with dance. While I wasn't happy about how this younger-child focus served my older child, I respected that it was the owner's choice to make with her business. I sat down with the owner Rachel, who I considered a friend, to discuss my daughter's frustration. She said she could relate, and that when she hit that point at her own studio as a kid, she started taking a few classes at other studios. She said my daughter might consider that soon. It was an unusual suggestion, although I told her I appreciated her giving her blessing. I appreciated that she was willing to acknowledge the limitations of her studio, and willing to suggest a solution that would allow my daughter to transition to the next level with dignity. At the beginning of this season, my daughter said she did want to try one class at another studio. Since I already had Rachel's blessing to try a class at another studio (which I didn't technically need since there was no policy against it), I let her know via email that we were doing this, but that we were still planning on staying at her studio. About two months later, I received a surprising and carefully worded email from Rachel. She was "disenrolling" my daughter, effective that day, for trying a class elsewhere. After 4 1/2 years at the studio, without any problems leading up to that, she was kicked out without discussion. For 4 1/2 years, my daughter strived to be a role model at the studio, with Rachel often requesting her to apprentice the classes she taught. I paid by auto pay or prepay consistently, volunteered backstage, and was supportive of the environment she claimed she wanted to create. It was a shock to our family, and to many others at the studio. But, I'd been warned by multiple parents that Rachel held grudges against dancers who tried classes at other studios. On the one hand, I regretted not listening to the advice to keep it a secret. The silver lining, though, is that I am no longer lining the pockets of a woman who would treat a reliable client this way - let alone a child! I give one extra star because the teachers were very good. read more

The Bollywood style was too much this nutcracker performance. Just too much. Such a turn off. Feliz navidad the most synced performance, great job instructor for that one! Great job soloist singing beginning to look like Christmas. Costumes choices overall better than impacts and Linda Buelles . Beautiful performances! We love Strong Dance Studio! We were looking for a good dance studio in our area that not only offered lots of classes but was also classy. We didn't want to get into a "Dance Mom's" Studio ; ) We were immediately impressed with the opportunity to try out classes for free because we didn't know what my daughter would be interested in. We appreciated that from the first visit, the front desk team, parents and other dancers were so inviting. We felt comfortable, loved all their class offerings and quality of teachers. I wrote my first review about Strong Dance Studios back in 2013. Back then I had no idea how far this rabbit hole was going to go but we tought it out with many bumps on the road and everything that has happened to my daughter since has been because of this place and the amazing teachers they have. We enrolled back in 2012 because we wanted to try a new dance style. We've danced Mexican Folk for years and it was time to try something new, so we enrolled in Jazz. My daughter made friends right away and when the season was over she didn't want to leave. We decided to go back to Mexican Folk and keep going to Jazz as well . It was a lot of studio time between both places but she loved them both. We did that for a year. After a few bullying issues towards my daughter at the other studio we decided to leave permanently and stay at Strong. With more free time we ended up enrolled into more classes and trying out different dance styles and that's when my daughter feel in love with ballet. Her goal was to get her pointe shoes. After 2 intense years of training, time and money her teachers saw she had great potential to really take the next step. We brought her up to 8-10 hours of studio time per week and invested our hearts and soul to this place. Let me tell you, it has paid off. She is now in her 2nd year attending OCSA's Classical Dance conservatory and is on her 2nd year with a full scholarship to The American Ballet Theater in Costa Mesa. She is up to 20+ hours a week in studio time and has performed on stage with Marcelo Gomez, Diana Vishneva, Misty Copeland and many many more. If it wasn't for the amazing teachers they have here she would not have made it as far as she has. The training you get here is cream of the crop, first class and carefully dedicated to each dance style. The teachers are all highly educated in what they teach, one of them even has there Masters Degree. The time and effort they put into our kids is truly amazing. I know a lot of the bad reviews here are lashed towards the owner, Rachel but if it wasn't for the owner and her countless hours of dedication to keep the doors open to this place my daughter would not have benefitted and would not be where she is. The main focus is who is teaching your kids? What level of dance would you like to achieve? is your child getting an "injury free" type of training? But the #1 question a family must ask themselves before enrolling to any studio is "what is my overall goal?" Then you will know what type of Studio you are looking for. For my family are overall goal was to find a place where she would get great training and let me tell you we got more than what we paid for. We are grateful for what this studio has brought to our family. read more

Not your normal dance studio. They offer work out classes, Zumba, yoga, Ripped and much more. If you purchase punch cards classes are only $5. My review is on the Monday night Zumba class. Instructor Clarisa Eng is not your typical Latin Zumba instructor since her classes offers a variety of music. Shakira, Chris Brown, a little of country, hip hop and old school. You name it, you will be sweating your bootie off. Nothing like learning how to do the "body roll" and burning calories at the same time. 3 dance rooms. Clean. Staff very friendly. read more

My oldest daughter has been attending Strong Dance Studio's since she was 4 years old, which was since 2010. My youngest daughter joined the dance studio about 2 years ago. We love this studio. My family and I fell in love with the fact that they treat you like family, not just as a client. We were treated like family since the first time we step foot at Strong Dance. After their move to Cypress, there was no doubt in our minds that we were going to keep our girls enrolled in the dance studio. You do not find such incredible studio, staff, talent and wonderful community easily. The amazing instructors have helped their students grow in many ways. Not only have they been teaching these dancers to dance beautifully, but have also taught them to be confident, to set goals, to be determine and to never give up on their dreams. I love this place! Their vision or mission statement is so pure and accurate. "Building confidence in children through dance". My child has had a huge confidence boost because of this studio. The teachers here have real talent. As someone who thinks dance is one of the most boring things to watch ever, I have no problem being here, I may think dancing is lame but my kid loves it.. and that's all that matters, I even skip watching baseball and football because she loves it so much. I also want to take the time to address some of the idiots who commented before. A) I am here for my child and my child only, I don't like to talk to anyone, I just sit down and read a book. I am not "IN" as someone mentioned, but regardless my child and myself are treated with the utmost respect by every parent and staff member B) Business 101: OF COURSE someone is going to tell you what you want to hear in order to steal your business away from a competitor. I can not believe the stupidty in that person's comment, check your estrogen levels and sit down. First brought my oldest daughter 8 yrs ago and fell in love with dance thanks to owner, Ms Rachel. All four kids have been with this studio for a long time now and can't rave enough about it. Awesome people, very encouraging, works well with parents with busy schedules and most of all promotes confidence. We are a family here and we all look out for each other. I am a regular zumba goer at 24 hour fitness, however I still find the time in my busy schedule to go to this place. Why is that?? First, the location is awesome, very close to my house, reasonable price for a zumba class, spacious studios and very clean and most of all - absolutely fantabulous Instructors. Special mention - Karen Del Rosario, our instructor who has routines that makes you forget about workout but pretty much have you just enjoying what you're doing and sweating at the same time. Not only you are losing calories but also having the fun time of your life. She's very good and she knows her stuff. She's amazing and very patient if you are a new student. She's a great Zumba instructor. You can never be bored with her music because she has varieties of the Zumba music and of course new music with mixture of everything such as hip hop kinda, club music, and latin music. I recommend this studio and for sure my ever ever BEST instructor - Karen!!! read more

I'm really disappointed with how unorganized this place is. I've taken my kids here for only 3 weeks but I decided to take my kids elsewhere. I ordered my kids ballet clothes and tap shoes through them because i believe in supporting small businesses even though i know i couldve bought them elsewhere for cheaper. What bothered me was that even though I came in an entire week later, only a few of the things I ordered were in.. but the sizes were all wrong. The tap shoes were too big for my 2 year old daughter. The leotard and leggings for my 6 year old were too small. The person in front was scrambling everywhere looking for my order. Luckily I got the last piece of my order on our last day, wrong size but my youngest will grow into it right? The teacher here are really sweet and awesome at what they do but the whole unorganized front desk was just too much of a turn off for me. read more

This place is really great and friendly! The staff here are very kind to the kids. My 2year old niece attended here and the instructor is very patient and fun with the kids! My 5yr old niece did the higher level one and it was a smaller class but more attentive for the kids to learn. Then my little sister kept going there for years so i assumed she really liked it. She does dance for a few years now. The parking is very easy to find because it's shared with a pretty dead complex. Good area though. read more

My 5 year old daughter tried out a combo class today with Miss Rachel and absolutely loved it. The Class was not even over and my daughter told me she wanted to come back next week! Miss Rachel is so nice and is great with the kids. She engages with ALL of them, teaches them all the correct terms, and is encouraging to those who are a bit shy. This isn't your average dance studio. Strong Dance Studios in Cypress was home to my summer college dance master class. It is truly great to learn Afro Caribbean and Latin Social for the past two weeks and my dance instructor Erin Landry; professor at Cypress College told everyone to meet here and practice. Unfortunately, I have no pictures to show but it truly was a great place to be at. Viewing the kids' photos made it really interesting to see they have good talent. Even though these masterclasses were held during the summer, we learned a whole bunch of new things from different teachers. I found out it was near my sister's school Oxford Academy. Despite the weather reaching triple digit heat, we managed to turn the fan on once we entered. Onto the final result... Strong Dance Studios, is a strong and vital work out place and the classes are truly amazing. Compelling with the scores, my scores ranged from 4-4.5 stars or (7-8). I thought this place was GREAT. The strong points of this studio are the enthusiastic dance instructors and the studio's convenient location. The lack of clear communication and constant changes in schedules, offerings, and staffing made it difficult to keep informed. Showing up to an intensive workshop where my young daughter had been left (unannounced to me or other parents) with a brand-new male instructor who only worked that week and had not been introduced to children/parents beforehand was a huge oversight. read more

Unorganized, poor parent communication. I moved my daughter to another studio last year and she is treated with more respect and professionalism at her new studio. I was going for the "Zumba" offered with the classes, and then the teachers gradually left the studio without warning, I believe some were fired. If I would have asked, she would say that her hiring and firing is not my concern, but I think it might be if I am the student, or if my kid is the student. There are more organized and professionally ran studios for less money and without the drama. read more

We just moved to Cypress from the Bay area and we were looking for dance classes for my daughter since she was starting classes there. We found Strong Dance Studio through Google and we couldn't be happier. My daughter just finished with the trial classes and we are impressed with the professionalism of the studio and all the teachers, she is 4 years old and they are so good with little kids to keep them motivated, excited but also very focus on the classes. Best dance school ever! We've been going here for about three years now and our five year old has a blast. She has danced several different styles and been involved in some shows. As a Zumba-er.....This studio has the best walk-in price compared to other studios I've been to. Its only $5 per class. There is no monthly fee or contract and you come and attend the class as you please. The class hours are very convenient for those who may have a crazy work schedule. Most places I have been to are either over crowded like 24hrs fitness, and the AC is on so you don't feel like you're dancing in the sauna either. I definitely recommend checking this place out for those who wants some fitness fun. P.s. You HAVE to check out Karen. D zumba classes shes so much fun with a variety of songs and her silly faces is entertaining as well. She teaches Mondays at 8pm and Thursdays at 6pm-7pm and 7pm-8pm its a back to back class. read more

Great experience here! My now 5 year old grand daughter has taken ballet, tap, jazz and tried hip hop. She's been in a few different recitals and they have all been so much fun and well put together! It's nice to find a place that has zumba classes every evening. The studio though promotes more the dance classes which cater to younger kids. I wish they offered a greater variety of dance styles and levels so my daughter could take classes here. The decor is nice and new since they are a new studio. The staff is friendly, too. read more
