I was interested in learning MMA, and signed up for adult Muay Thai and no gi BJJ. I have no prior martial arts experience. I was only able to attend for a few months due to moving out of the area for a bit, but I can't wait to return when I have the chance. While I attended, the classes were structured as warm-up, then the day's lesson is given, and then you drill down the technique that was taught. The coaches will walk around and give you critiques and advice on how to improve as you practice with your partner. Some times this routine is switched up to focus on other areas, which keeps things fresh. Coming to this gym really helped build up my self confidence. I can't say enough good things about the staff (Coaches Aaron, Jay, Dianna) and people who attend here. Coach Aaron is a fantastic teacher and person, and knows his stuff. When I got to class early, he would be teaching the kids class, and he's really good at dealing with and teaching kids as well. The classmates I had were all friendly and supportive too. This review is way overdue. Started bringing our 2 boys in 2021 when sports were still not back in full effect and we wanted our boys to be active and work on their personal physical health. My 7 year old son tried the kickboxing class and he is hooked! I appreciated meeting and talking to the owner, Jerry, and the "vibe" of the gym. The teacher for my sons class was awesome!! After walking my dog past this gym for over a year, I decided to stick my head in and ask some questions. Maybe it was the banner offering a sweet deal for monthly classes. After finding out how long the promotion lasted, I set up a time for my fiance and I to return and find out more. During our consultation, Owner/Coach Jerry gave my fiance a 30 minute personal training session. After this workout which was prob the toughest thing my lady had ever done, we sat down to go over what the gym offers. After seeing how well my fiance responded to punching and kicking heavy bags, we decided to join up for 6 months. To work at our own paces, my fiance and I decided to train separately for awhile, her on Mon/Wed, me on Tue/Thur. After our first classes, we decided that we should focus 100% on this and cancel our memberships at Fitness 19. It was a great decision in that what we get at Centerline is not what we were getting from a traditional gym where you have to push yourself. First off, the Instructors at Centerline are top notch. Not just in their expertise, but in their personalities and attitude. Coach Jerry and Coach David design a different workout every class. Since I have been going I have yet to do the same workout twice. Although some exercises are rotated in different classes, my body feels as if it hasn't done before what they are asking of me. At 35, I've lost 60lbs down from an all-time high of 320. I got as much done as I could on my own, now I;m getting the expert help from Centerline and the great Coaches that share their wealth of knowledge there. I run 5k's now and have competed in the Tough Mudder and Spartan race events. The training provided by Centerline is helping me improve my overall core strength and agility, so that I may lose the remaining weight I want, and to improve my capabilities for more mudruns/obstacle course events. Setting up an appointment with Coach Jerry to find out what Centerline could do for my fiance and I was a huge difference maker in our lives. I started kickboxing here about a month ago and I'm loving it. I'm learning a lot and meeting cool new people. I thought I knew how to fight/defend myself before taking these classes but wow I was far from it. I feel more and more confident in my ability to defend myself after each class. Coach Jerry definitely knows his stuff and he doesn't just teach by the book boxing stuff. He also helps us learn how to deal with real life-or-death situations and that's what I appreciate. I've been doing martial arts for over 10 years now. One thing I have learned is that even more important than the style, is your trainer. Couldn't ask for a better trainer than Jerry at Centerline. I live about 4 hours away and try to make the trip down to train with him as much as possible...usually about once a month. Definitely worth the trip. I went there for a private lesson with Jerry and it was a complete waste of time and money. Jerry acted like a tough guy as though I intimadated him and he was going to show me who was boss. He showed me nothing and lied about being an affliate of Tony Blauer. And he didn't work on the things I wanted to work on that I previewed to him in a phone conversation. I didn't even break a sweat after after forty-five minutes of just talk from him so I just walked out. I walked out knowing less than I when I walked in. I should have just thrown the money on the floor in disgust as I walked out but didn't. I don't know who is giving this guy five stars but it's B.S. Don't waste your time. You can learn faster and better someplace else. Put him in a cage against some real competent instructors and see who wins. It certainly wouldn't be Jerry. read more
