We tried a few special today and it was so good that we wish it can be on the menu permanently! Crab cakes: it's full of crab meat. Not greasy and just fresh crab meat without unnecessary breadcrumbs and other fillings. Salmon carpaccio: fresh salmon with crunchy fried capers! I definitely have to have it everytime I'm here! Brick chicken: it tastes good! But I wish they can add Chicken Marsala on the menu. Kinda miss the taste of the mushrooms on the plate! Cod: it's a special that I hope it will stay on the menu. It's moist and flavorful. Pistachio cream bruelee: a very nice and delicate dessert. The pistachio is a nice touch. The crust is a bit thick but still tastes good!

Made a reservation here while visiting Petaluma. We were promptly seated along the wall on a cozy corner spot of the restaurant and immediately served water. We really enjoyed our dinner here. Ambiance was lovely and quaint. Reminded me of a restaurant somewhere in Italy. Loved the focaccia diavola. It was delicious and a great start along with the roasted beet salad. We shared the wild boar gnocchi which was also well prepared and satisfying. Of course we finished with their house tiramisu that was a great ending to a well rounded meal while staying in Petaluma.

We went here on a Monday night which is usually a quiet night in the dining world, but it was busy here. We had a group of 6. My overall dining experience was 5 stars. We went here for my daughter's 21st birthday. The staff was friendly and patient and attentive. Arthur was our server and he was excellent. In general, the food hovered somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. My filet was cooked perfectly and the spinach was hot, but the potatoes were barely warm. My daughter's pesto dish fresh and unique. I also ordered the Batch One Old-Fashioned which was perfectly made. For dessert, we ordered the mini donuts. After we had finished our donuts, the bartender gave us each a short espresso martini on the house. Tasty and the perfect way to end the evening. I was very happy with my overall experience here. I will be back.

If yelp had a way to add more than 5 star I'd do that everything was on point Dan was my server and i could've recommended this place better than alot of its competitors. I'm big foodie and picky and there Pumpkin Ravioli is so much chief inspired of flavor!!! Good for a date or just for some good food

Very cute and tiny Italian restaurant. Our server was super helpful in answering questions and letting us know the specials. Risotto of the Day (5/5 stars) - one of the best risotto I've ever had, they were able to remove the meat for me, I usually hate mushrooms but this was good Mixed Organic Greens Salad (5/5) - had the perfect amount of dressing, tasted so fresh, the egg was well seasoned Tomato Bruschetta (3/5) - very expensive for how little you get, the bread got soft in the middle making it crumble when you bit into it, the tomatoes were very fresh Overall, pricey but yummy.

I've been going to risibisi since before Covid. I wanted to visit them again since it's been awhile since i've been to Petaluma. I remember back then it was one of the owners who used to serve us. We visited yesterday on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't busy and the restaurant was pretty open. The gentleman behind the bar was first to assist us and then a female server came after. Honestly, I removed 1 star because of her. Her face just showed she didn't want to be there. She just had an attitude where you didn't even want to call her for anything. Honestly, this waitress didn't even smile not once while we were there. Idk if she was having a bad day but she needs to either stay home if that's the case. Bartender, he was amazing. Very friendly and I love the special drink he made. I have no idea what the name of the drink was but it was refreshing and he even made us a little taster first. What we ordered: Calamari: highly recommend 5 out of 5. Spaghetti carbonara (5 out of 5)- another amazing dish. This has been my go to everytime I come here. Spaghetti bolognese (5 out of 5)- another good dish. Pasta was made perfect and sauce tasted amazing as well. Dessert- creme brulee (5 out of 5)- great dessert as well. Loved the toastyness of the top. Im glad I chose to come back here. It's honestly been years since I've been back here. You can definitely see the restaurant aging with some normal wear and tear. The restaurant vibe has always been cozy. I would recommend maybe an update to the decor make it a little more vibrant and refreshing cause when you enter there is this old, musty smell which eventually disappears. I love risibisi and will definitely return.

Top: soup of the day - minestrone; bottom: papardelle

We had a reservation for 6:15pm and we were greeted upon entering then seated. We were seated against a brick wall which gives the restaurant a rustic vibe but I didn't like it because it makes your belongings and arm prone to being scratched. Refresco mocktail had a subtle guava flavor and stronger jalapeño flavor giving it a nice kick, but I wish I could taste more guava to balance it out. The soup of the day was minestrone and it came in a decent sized bowl and was packed with flavor. Papardelle was just ok and could've been better. The pasta was too al dente for my personal taste and to the point where it was borderline undercooked. The bolognese sauce was good though. Service was fine and our server checked in on us a couple times. With so many other restaurant options in the area, I'm not sure if I'd come back unless I tried something else besides pasta like focaccia or I ask for my pasta to be cooked a bit more.

Mushroom Bruschetta | 2 pcs Trumpet royale & oyster mushrooms, house ricotta cheese

Looking from sidewalk in, the bar area caught my eye I've been wanting to try this place out and finally got my opportunity the other night. The place isn't all that big though apparently there is seating in the back and outside seating along the river. My choice was the bar area, which I like because it had a modern style, mixed with the brick walls and quaint size. The menu was typical of most Italian places. I had plans on going with a pasta dish but somehow I ended up going with the filet. I think the lure that caught me was the price for a filet was so good compared to what I see in SF. I started with the Mushroom Bruschetta, 2 pcs, that was composed of Trumpet royale & oyster mushrooms, & house ricotta cheese. Normally I'm not a big fan of buschetta's but I thought it was better than alright. I'd say 3.5 stars. My main entree which was a Filet Mignon 8oz, Brandy peppercorn sauce, scalloped potatoes, & sautéed spinach. I ordered it medium rare and came as requested. The meal tasted way better than the presentation, and what I really like outside of the filet was the scalloped potatoes. They must have had them soaking in butter for a week, because boy did they taste so good! I thought for sure a 5 star dish. Service at the bar was great, ambience was also great. I like the quaintness of the place and look forward to coming back again. The next time i'll go with a pasta dish.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with my dining experience last night. The service was friendly and we were seated almost immediately on a Saturday evening with a packed house; however, that was the best part of the evening. My husband and I waited for a while for anyone to come to our table to bring water, then waited a while longer for a server to come to tell us the specials and ask if we wanted drinks. We ordered two glasses of wine, the minestrone soup, salmon carpaccio, and bolognese pappardelle. It took approximately 40 minutes to receive the soup and carpaccio, which were both delicious. We then waited another 40 minutes before receiving the pasta. We debated canceling the pasta and calling it a night because it was taking so long. I understand they were very busy but a restaurant of this caliber should be much more on top of getting dishes out in a reasonable amount of time. Although the food was delicious, because of the extremely long wait times I'll try another Italian restaurant next time I'm in town.

We were fortunate enough that two adjacent tables were free so they were able to push the tables together and seat our party after a quick wait. Service here was attentive, and I appreciate the table-side cheese and fresh cracked pepper offering after you entree arrives. The top-up on the table bread throughout the evening was nice as well. The food was my biggest issue at Trattoria Roma. While the meatball appetizer was delicious -- super tender, seasoned well, and sauce was tomato forward with just the right amount of tartness, the pasta dishes missed the mark. The texture of the house-made gnocchi was not what I'm used to. When the gnocchi arrived, the gnocchi held its form just fine. However, no more than a few minutes into eating the dish, the gnocchi lost its shape and turned into mush, and the whole dish took on the texture of cheesy mashed potatoes. The pesto sauce I opted for with the gnocchi was heavily diluted and the whole dish needed more salt. My wife's clam linguini dish had overcooked noodles. It's a shame because the clam flavor was quite good in the dish. For a family of four, our dinner came out to about $150 for four pastas and two orders of meatballs. I wouldn't say this was my favorite meal in Downtown Petaluma.

Our waiter was super attentive and friendly, and I have to say service was great! Everything came out in a timely manner. We started out with a glass for Chianti Classico, which is a red wine. It was good, but it was warmer than room temperature. Ive been to Italy and had amazing Italian food, so the bar is set very high for us. We ordered the burrata, spaghetti carbonara, and penne salciccia. The burrata itself was very cold, the balsamic glaze that it came with was hardened, not really smooth where you can dip the burrata or prosciutto with. Having said that, the prosciutto itself was really good and the arugula made it that much better. When I order pasta, I expect the pasta to be al dente, and unfortunately both pasta dishes were too well done. The taste of the penne salciccia was actually very flavorful, and i enjoyed the sausage. The spaghetti carbonara was super heavy and buttery, maybe a little more than I'm used to. Overall, the dishes were tasty but I prefer my pasta to be al dente.

The pesto is super creamy and the gnocchi were very fluffy. I did find that the raviolis tasted a little undercooked. The chicken parmesan wasn't my favorite. My chicken was a little too close to burnt for my liking. The burnt taste on the breading really took away from the other flavors. It could've used some more seasoning as well. The menu is on the smaller side - a few options each of appetizers, salads, pastas and entrees - and a couple of specials. We went with the bruschetta trio (the winner of the entire meal) and chose the traditional, the prosciutto and the salmon of which the traditional was the favorite. The entrees were ok. I went with the chicken piccata which was not prepared in the traditional manner of pan-frying the chicken; I'm guessing by its white anemic color it was maybe poached separately first before being added to the piccata sauce. The sauce was missing the acidity of white wine and lemon (although I'm sure they were in there) and even the capers couldn't help punch up the flavor. Between the underwhelming seasoning/flavor and the chicken missing that crispy exterior the dish just didn't deliver. My partner's salmon pasta Alfredo was also just ok, again it could have used more seasoning and the sauce was so watery it was impossible to get it to coat the fish and the pasta. I can see why a lot people enjoy Sugo - the food is good enough relative to the very reasonable menu prices and the staff is great; just know that at least some of the dishes deviate from the traditional preparations. Next time I'd stick with the bruschetta and add a salad to round out the meal.

Then I added four more to the favorite. At 81 I don't do well on short term memory! I love that what was done so right was the lemon and the mignonette (sp?) sauce that was exactly balanced. The last restaurant in Ptown and two absolutely terrible with a red and a white. * Next I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail. They screamed fresh, perfectly boiled that let the shrimp flavor out, and again the red sauce was perfectly balanced between flavor and heat. Had to made in house. And they just nicely crisply cool, not in a cold place that overwhelms the flavor. I don't think I've every had one this good! * Next was a pair of fried oysters. I was prepared for some oily, bready things that would ruin all of the above. BUT NO, the perfect balance was incredible!! * Last was the clam chowder. I'm soooo fussy about this after growing up in the NorthEast (Connecticut) and 4 years of college in Maine blew this one away. It lacked the perfection and freshness of my East Coast standard. But I finished with the last of lemonade and all was well. My standard has never been "perfect." I don't meet that standard, so the chef shouldn't have to either. Hey, maybe he's never been in Maine! P.S. there's not section for this, because the above doesn't happen without OWNERS that create processes and hire people that and buy the best incredients. Kudos, gals!!

We stayed in Petaluma and our friends recommended The Shuckery. We got here right before Happy Hour…read moreended (3pm-6pm) and was able to get a dozen oysters and rose' at HH prices. We got an additional dozen because they were so tasty. Raw oysters - Well shucked. Very minimal shell pieces if at all. Fresh clean tasting. The varieties we had were called Sweet Jesus and Kuushi. Mignonette was delicious, light & tangy but not overpowering. Baked oysters - my sis ordered one Rockefeller and one Miso. The Rockefeller was "ok" but the Miso was "absolutely divine". Braised short ribs - absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes underneath was creamy and had a distinct cheesy taste. The meat was tender and flavorful. The greens brightened up an otherwise heavy dish. Linguine di Mare - very tasty. Pasta was well cooked and seafood was fresh and not overcooked. The accompanying toast (from local bakery/cafe Della Fattoria) was crispy and chewy and sopped up the cream sauce well. And that cream sauce. Absolutely amazing. Wish I had more of the toast to get all of that delicious sauce. Service - we did not have reservations but were seated quickly upon arrival. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Shout out to Wade and Scott. 10/10 would recommend, would come again. Delicious fresh food, great service.
