I have mixed feelings about Risser. Office staff, scheduling is horrid and it takes hours to get someone to answer the phone. I received good care for my knee arthritis, but was dismayed that they did not use ultra-sound for PRP injections. So I went elsewhere. My back is where it went bad. I was diagnosed with scoliosis, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc and halitosis :) I received cortisone epidurals, the second one was 9 months after the first. When I requested the second injection the doctor said I was getting too many shots and I needed surgery. Fact, you can get 3-4 injections per year. The fact the doctor lied to me was the last straw. Went to Pasadena Ortho, they answer the phone and scheduling is easy. They supplied me with exercises for my back and knee as well as a medical knee brace which I no longer need. Imagine my shock when the back doctor after a very thorough exam said my back pain was actually from lumbar facet joint syndrome. He referred me to an anesthesiologist/ pain specialist in their office. He did a very thorough exam and confirmed the diagnosis. Surgery was not required and all I needed was facet joint ablation (radio frequency kill the nerves being squeezed) which last 9-12+ months. I am astounded that Risser misdiagnosed me, lied and I could have had an unnecessary surgery. read more

The Practitioners are good, however the office staff are nor helpful. There is a disconnect between how the MD's/ PA think things happen and what really does. This is the only medical Practice I have been to where I was told the practitioner would not call me back regarding a side effect from a med they ordered. I could make an appointment and could possible het in in 2 weeks. This is malpractice. read more

He scheduled me for an epidural two months ago and he knew or didn't care that we have determined that doesn't help me. Worse doctor I've ever seen at Risser Ortho; worse ever of any kind to me. I had to leave this practice after thirty years because of Dr Northrop. He told me to stop doing my activity because I'm too old (55), based on a meniscus injury. He did not offer any support or guidance about the activity or healing. When I told him I was sleepless because of the discomfort, he offered no help. I ended up back in a depressive episode because of this doctor. He failed me. I had to phone consult with my GP doc to follow up and get help with sleeping through the pain that I was trying to address in the first place, because Northrop was unable to care for me. I am in extremely good athletic shape and should be able to perform my sport for a long time. Why didn't he notice this? Also, I was beating depression with my physical activity, this was disclosed to Northrop, he didn't care; no consideration whatsoever. He set me back and hurt me with his lack of treatment and negative attitude - opposite of his oath. I since have found a knee sports doctor at USC Keck. It was a night and day difference! He was caring, understood my issues before I had to tell him, saw I was in shape and treated my getting back to activity with the most importance. It made me feel seen immediately. He made me feel cared for by acknowledging the hard work I've put in physically, and being right on my side with the desire to get back to full activity. He treats the best athletes in the world as a team doctor, yet he treated me with the same respect I'm sure he gives all his athletes. It felt good. Northrop is obviously burned out, extremely frustrated with his new corporate owners (he verbally told me at the appt - so unprofessional), and unable to provide real care that sees you and your needs. I had more issues at this appt, it all boils down to complete lack of care. After thirty years there as a family at Risser, with some major injuries treated in that time, I could not run fast enough away from that total catastophe. You can feel the awfulness come from the behind the reception window when you first walk in now, the pervasive attitude there is "what do you want!?". I'm glad I stood up for myself by leaving that practice and switching doctors. I've never had to do so, never had such a terrible experience, and found there is so much better out there than the pompous, narcissistic sell out docs at Risser; Dr Northrop was a prime example of these qualities and he wasn't able to care for me whatsoever. Doctors are good, but scheduling is terrible. They tell you to arrive 15 minutes early only to wait for one hour plus for 10-20 minutes with doctor. If doctor is out unexpectedly, you are not prioritized when rescheduling. My doctor took an unexpected 2 weeks off, and I was rescheduled for 5 weeks past my original appointment! Meantime, the pain got worse. read more

I really like Dr. Myers. He's nuts in a wonderful way and I recommend the Arcadia office location over Pasadena but you'll have no choice based on availability. Advice: Even if you're in severe pain, be nice. He's there to help. Also, prepare to wait several months to get an appt. read more

Honestly. I was skeptical about come here to Risser Orthopedic after reading a few of the reviews that it had on here. I know people have good days and bad days. I know is hard to go to any facility and be in and out and understand that the staff and doctors do there best to accommodate us.. with that being said. I got lost and went to the wrong building, I was 20 min late for my appointment. I was able to get there and the lady in the office was still able to squeeze me in. Even tho she said it might be a bit longer since I showed up late. Gave me the note pad to write down my information and just sat there waiting patiently but I honestly didn't wait that long. The assistant for Dr Criswell was so helpful. I got my X-ray done right away by a nice guy. Idk if his name was Alfonso but he was also very polite. Dr. Myers is a physician with a God-complex. While I do not dispute his skills as a medical professional, behind the cheerful demeanor is a dark and brooding man. All he cares about is money. I overheard him in his office saying to his physician-in-training, if he doesn't pay for his visit, we drop him, in a cocky tone. I met Dr. Myers in May of 2020 and instantly I befriended him based on his level of understanding for my case and sympathy for others. Also, his reaction to Covid was that of a true medical professional, which was it didn't exist. I didn't expect much from my initial visit except it taking longer than I expected. My thoughts, however were unfounded, and we proceeded to do a prp procedure. After the procedure, however, he became a grumpy man, perhaps due to certain events, including citing his difficulties with his car and I gave him several solutions to permanently avoid the problem, and Covid taking a toll as well, making him a less rational and less tolerant person. I have a prescription from Johns Hopkins, the best medical institution in the world, and he refuses to see me because there was a misunderstanding with billing on one or more occasions. Also, Dr. Myers did not give proper notice in his wrongful termination. Medical abandonment is the basis of a medical malpractice case. As far as the office staff goes, they were responsible for the termination, if they notified me in advance of a credit card dispute this would not have happened, you have the laziest, careless, and most indolent individuals working in the office, including the office manager. Kacey Garcia, the procedure scheduler for Dr. Myers, has an authoritarian attitude adjustment. She said several things that were untrue about myself to Dr. Myers that resulted in the termination because I fought for my rights as a patient. After I went to Hopkins in Maryland and explained my reason for the visit, they told me that the behavior at Risser was unacceptable. If it were not for the dispute, I would have paid Dr. Myers the full amount for the visit, but Kacey had an attitude, and I wanted to kill her. She was wasting my time for the appointment and was talking back to a patient whose only wish was to see a doctor. I'll never forget that, Kacey. read more

Doctors Northrop, Mabasa, and Meyers are great! Criswell needs some bed side manner training... This review is about their office staff! This bs has been going on for almost two years. You can't get a return phone call, prescription refills, or a message to your doctor. For example: currently had an appointment with Meyers who said he was sending my prescription to the pharmacy "right now ". Next day, pharmacy hasn't received anything so I call his assistant. Of course, she doesn't have her voicemail set up and I leave a message as a reminder of the prescription and to call me back. No response.... Call Tuesday after holiday weekend, leave message with operator, still nada. I call again today, leave word with operator who says that Meyers assistant said she will start working on it. Still no response.... This isn't a one time thing, happened a few months ago and all of earlier this year and last year with Mambasa's assistant, who was fired. I tried to get her to fill the prescription but wants me to make an appointment to come in even though I just saw the doctor a few days prior and Mambasa told me to just call if I need a refill or ask Dr Meyers. When this started happening at first, I complained because of the money and time it was costing me to go back and forth when they say just call. Nothing came of that... They like to send billing statements as Final Billing Statement, even though it is the first one. More fun is when you call to set up a payment plan and they tell you they don't do that but I'll note your account with what you'd like to do. Then you show up to your appointment and told you have a balance that needs to be paid. I let the woman know that I set up a payment arrangement. She said I need to set up a payment plan?!?!? Wtf, I told her what I was told and she started demanding dates, names, etc. I tell her the info, she doesn't believe me and states they record the calls.... Then listen to the recording! Since they merged withCedars Sinai, their service is a disaster. After my surgery, it was IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone at the offices in less than three hours of hold time. Immediately following my knee replacement, my PT company cancelled on me and I had no pain medication. It took 36 hours for them to finally get me a pain medication prescription and TEN days for them to finally get me an order for PT. Since the first two weeks post surgery are the most critical in recovery - and I received no assistance or guidance from the doctor and his staff, I continue to suffer in great pain 6 months later. Even after six months, they continue to be rude and extremely unhelpful for my follow up visits - and they are always very late to see you and very quick to kick you out the door without having to help you or answer any questions. If I ever need a second knee replacement, I would chew off my own leg and wear a wooden peg leg before would let anyone at Risser Orthopedic talk to me. read more

Staff-not very friendly or welcoming Doctor-performed the bare minimum for checkups and recommendations. Fees-their online check-in co-pay amount is different from the actual copay. In order to check in online, I needed to pay a higher fee, then get a refund when I check in in-person, and then re-pay the correct amount!! No option to make a different co-pay online!! Very inconvenient! They also charge $25 for any type of paperwork needed for school, work, etc. The first and only place to charge a fee to print out a piece of paper!! The doctor also took weeks just to sign off on a form my daughter needed for her school! Entire staff is extremely rude & unprofessional. As medical workers in a clinic, they show no sense of sympathy for anyone, even if there is an individual walking into their establishment unable to walk. As professionals, I think it is very important to take your front staff into consideration as this is the face of your business, and overall brand. Please reconsider coaching or re-evaluating your choice of Medical Assistants. All are unwelcoming, and make you feel as if you cannot even ask them a question without them having an instant problem with you. I totally do not understand some if these reviews! I have had knee surgery with Dr. Criswall, back surgery with Dr. Pradham, & have been with Dr. Jared Myers for pain management for many years. Yes the wait is long but, gor me, it is worth it. Nobody has been lazy or weird! Dr. Myers is the best pain management doctor I could ask for. He used to take care of me for mainly my leg and my back however I acquired cancer in September of 2019 and he has continued to treat me for also my cancer pain. I feel so comfortable with him. He never makes me feel like a "drug seeker". He never questions me about my level of pain. He completely trust me and takes care of me 100%. I have an entire cancer team but I refused to go to anyone else except doctor Meyers for pain management. No doctor's office is perfect and a facility with this many doctors is not going to make everybody happy. This is a very popular facility because they have very good doctors. I encourage everybody to make their own opinion. If you want to get taken care of good then go to Risser. And if you have pain issues then see dr. Myers. He is extremely smart, extremely compassionate, and he will take care of you. I was referred to Risser OG by my primary physician. After speaking with one of Risser's office coordinators over the phone it was recommended I schedule my appointment with Dr. Gregory Northrop (Arcadia location) as he is "the shoulder specialist". Simply put, this was one of the most impersonal, uninspired experiences I've ever had with a physician. I brought in my digital MRI results (as requested) along with some x-ray film to my appointment, the latter of which I do not think the doctor even bothered looking at, let alone take the time to address with me. My verbal intake with Dr. Northrop felt as if he was simply going through the motions. I felt zero connection, as if he wasn't even listening- bizarre. For the sake of this review, it's not worth expanding on. I did not schedule this appointment hoping that a chronic, involved shoulder issue would be resolved in one visit. I came because I wanted the opinion of a highly regarded specialist on the matter. I wanted someone that truly knew their sh*t to spend some time with me and take an interest in helping me, his patient, take on this puzzle. Instead I was in and out of the treatment room in literally 5 minutes with a referral to a PT. Yay. Don't get me wrong, maybe PT was indeed the correct next step for me to take (although I did mention to the doc that I've already seen PT, chiro, acu, massage for the injury). i had back surgery last april (2022) dr pradhan was my surgeon.....there was problem from the start i was told i was given a package & was not.......the doctor should have given me a verbal.......the anesthesiologist stuck me in my left hand.......he gave me a enough cocktail to put me out after two hour wait..........i was not told that it would take a year to recover from back surgery.........well........it's my year & my back is worse now....than before the surgery.......when i woke up in the recovery room.......my drip was put in my right hand........that too was not in my vien & abscessed.........the hospital finally gave me a mid line in my chest......stayed two days & was released.......8 months later ......i had seen dr pradhan for a visit & told i need pain management.........back to dr myers..........had an upedural in four locations & lasted a week to ten days.......no mas risser group.........i made th wrong decision.......i regret having the surgery.........i should have walked out of the surgery room........when the anestesiologist could not find a vien & the machine did not work until they fixed it.......a two hour repair job...........think twice before having back surgery read more

I've been going to this office for several years and I have had nothing but fantastic experiences. The office is always emasculate and Jean, Allana, Crystal, Rose, Dr. Meyers, Dr Lasiter, and finally Dr, Pradham, are always going out of their way to make sure I am in and out quickly with minimal wait times. Crystal always works with me to make sure my appointments are scheduled and offers any help I need. She's great with my mom and goes out of her way to make us comfortable while waiting. She's goes a step further offering coffee or water to keep us comfortable. I drive all the way from FRESNO CA to visit this office mostly because of crystal and the service I receive at this office. Came into see Dr. Amir Mostofi for my right wrist, and he was awesome! Located in the Hale Medical Building across from Arcadia Methodist Hospital. It's on the other side facing the hospital ER section and along the Huntington Drive side with Santa Anita Park / Santa Anita Mall. It's right next to a big brown building. Before the exam, my wrist was xray in case Dr. Mostofi needed to view for further diagnosis. Instead, he pressed on my tendons and around my right wrist to gauge the pain and explained my diagnosis and various treatment options. Didn't end up seeing my xrays, whew! I'm glad he didn't mentioned surgery right off the bat as opposed to other orthopedics. My diagnosis was to "R.I.B". it - Rest, ice and brace my wrist for 4-6 weeks and if it's still bothersome afterwards then he'll administer the shots as the last treatment resort. Otherwise, I love that he was able to diagnosis and treat with the least amount of trouble. Afterwards, I left his office with a doctor's note for work and went off to CVS to get my tropical patch for my wrist. Dr. Mostofi is a sweet and approachable doctor. Doesn't hurt that he's a cutie too, lol! Nice and courtesy he is as his staff. Clean and spacious office with an in - house Xray area and tech. I love that he also works in the Arcadia office (he has one in Pasadena) - closer location for me. Ample parking space. Definitely recommend Dr. Mostofi for your hands and wrists in need of Orthopedic TLC :) read more

I saw Risser Orthopedic try to overbill an old woman who went for leg-surgery while the office staff tried to bill her for charges not mentioned and not mailed. What is the basis of the bill, there is no basis, they under-graded her insurance because she had Medi-Cal and tried to bill her $300 dollars, and I offered her a ride home and to pay for her expenses. Moments later, two police showed up and after I said, "Can I help you?" proceeded to try to twist my leg at a 90 degree angle even though I have scheduled leg surgery for that day, while hitting my head against the floor several times. One officer was short. I swear divine vengeance upon the staff and those who violate YHWH. read more

All these people do is keep prescribing more and more meds. Passively using useless treatments and band aids. Not to mention Dr. Myers' assistant is in a category of her own. It literally takes a week to get any response from her and if by chance you ask 2 questions then the second will have to wait another week for an answer. She's not knowledgeable on procedures and policies. Unable to process a medication refill with an adjustment from the doctor. Any changes would make me go for days without medication because of her lack of competency. Numerous work notes and other important documents were left unanswered at times. I escalated my concerns and the practice manager there is just as knowledgeable. She would rather not answer questions and much less reply to emails. I sent several requests for a meeting to discuss my treatment and still waiting on a response from anyone at risser. Save yourselves a headache. Try somewhere else where people are kind, professional and like their jobs. read more

This review is for Dr. Mostofi. This is late but better late than never. I had 8 trigger fingers going on in my sadly deformed arthritic fingers. While he injected the lidocaine, I was screaming internally but he talked throughout the procedure which took most of the focus off my pain so I was less nervous. Within a few minutes, my fingers felt so much better and I was ready to run out the door but he had informed me that the steroids still had to be injected. It was completely pain free to have the steroids placed in each finger. Fastforward a few years later and I am still trigger less In all fingers. I often wonder if I had gone elsewhere would they have immediately done surgery? read more

Horrible office staff. My mother 85 trip and fell and broke her ankle was taken to emergency by ambulance. I made an appointment for her with her regular orthopedist. Everything was fine. Dr Risser office called, said the office had consulted on her case in the emergency room and the Doctor wanted to see her today at 1:30, for a pre op visit. I cancelled her regular Orthopaedic Doctor appointment to go to this Doctor.. we get to Dr Risser's office and staff has no idea who she is, she doesn't have an appointment. Fortunately Congress Orthopedic is in the same building and is her regular orthopedic. They graciously accepted her and fit her in for the appointment, This is during the height of the Corona virus lock down. Absolutely incompetent office!!!!!! UPDATE: Mom's break was very bad. Even though LA is on a serious stay at home status, surgery is recommenced. She had to have clearance from her cardiologist (after a OET test) before the surgery. Her skin integrity was impaired. If you are having something important done take your money, time, and trust somewhere else. This business will do nothing but disappoint you and have you wishing you went somewhere else. Expect to have a problem with them if not multiple. Staff is extremely unprofessional and will not call you or reach out in any form when they decide to cancel your appointment without notice. I simply cannot complain with the service and professionalism I received.The surgery center, was a great experience.The pre/post nurse inserted my IV beautifully. I do phlebotomy as an RN, and she taught me a thing or two. A lovely demeanor and so professional in her approach. Inside the OR, the young surgical nurse was so friendly, chatty and polite. I have been waiting for 5 months for treatment but because of lack of administration to process my claims in a timely manner I am still waiting. I like Dr.Jerad but Am frustrated with thier administration practice. I have been to the emergency centers for help in the meantime while I wait. My mom was scheduled for an appointment today and when we filled out her questioner online it said one visitors per patient allowed. When we got to the appointment the girl on the front didnt let me in even after showing them the screen shot of where it said it was allowed. My mother is 65 years old (not an english speaker) and will need surgery so I want to hear exactly whats going from the doctor. I explained that to them and the girls that work there just said "well she can take pictures." I asked if the doctor could call me to explain to me what is going on and what will be needed to be done to fix her problem and they said no. I understand if it was a younger person but when you are talking about a person my mothers age and older that should be an exception. How are we supposed to feel comfortable on having her go get surgery? Plus a person her age or older most times don't understand exactly what is going to have to be done. *UPTADE I CHANGED THIS POST FROM ONE STAR TO THREE BECAUSE: The doctor did end up calling me and talking to me. I would highly urge anyone considering Dr Heinen and his team to go anywhere else. This team DOES NOT care about any of their patients. Especially the doctor himself. I was a first time patient and visited end of July for a possible torn miniscus. Came in for a brief visit where he wasn't able to view my MRI records due to an issue with the other company and was told to drop it off for his thorough review. I was prescribed a very strong pain medication which caused severe stomach cramps. I advised the staff and requested a substitute. The doctor never prescribed anything else nor did he follow-up. I dropped off physical MRI records for his review and a week later still no call. Had to continuously followup with his staff in which they told me I'd have to come in to get my results. I'd have to pay $150 again for what should be part of my incomplete first exam. Secondly, I no longer have insurance so this visit would cost nearly several hundreds of dollars which is unnecessary. Could be covid times but they are extremely busy and the doctor i saw barely showed any compassion or my work situation. I saw him about a fracture and doesn't seem too concerned with me taking time off of work. Advocate for yourself!! Don't let any doctor bulldoze over your concerns. read more
