I just returned from my orthopedic appointment, and I had a wonderful experience. Firstly, I was greeted by Joanna, who did my intake paperwork. I was on crutches, so she brought everything over to me, and she asked me to flag her down to pick everything up so I didn't have to struggle with my crutches. I have many medical appointments this last month, and she was the first one who made this very considerate and thoughtful offer. Abram and Alexis helped me with my X-rays. They were both very patient and kind. They made sure to help and support me. They were friendly throughout the process even when I stepped on a button that accidentally moved the bed. They were both very kind. Abigail checked me out. She was very patient in finding appointments that would work for me both as a follow up with Dr. Gipsman and for a first appointment for a second specialist in their office. She was smiling, friendly, professional, and kind. I met with Dr. Aaron M Gipsman to go over the results of the tests for my knee. He had excellent bedside manner. He answered all of mine and my husband's questions. He explained everything to our understanding and satisfaction. He explained everything he was doing during the exam and explained any findings afterward while consistently checking in with me to make sure I was fine. I was so pleased with this visit and team, that I came straight home to write this review. If you need an orthopedic surgeon for your knee, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Gipsman and his team. read more

Well, or wellness...how can I start to praise these group of doctors. As I pace my steps using my very functional knee, looking for the right words to type using my very fictional hand. I can't thank enough Dr. Billings and Dr. Movasaghi as well as their entire staff (specially Jennifer from PreOp) in helping my surgeries become the success they are and becoming! On late August I had the need to have trigger finger release surgery with Dr. Billings and on December 2nd I had total knee replacement surgery with Dr Movassaghi. And as I recover I would say that my surgeries were a success and becoming a success, all thanks to The attention at the Clinic, and the hospital, the time they took to answer my questions and to make sure that I understood everything that was being said and proposed, and their great efforts and professionalism. Pasadena Orthopedics 959 East Walnut Street Suite #150 is a premiere Orthopedics clinic. The doctors here have reputations for excellence. After finding a parking space in the large parking lot in front of the building, I entered Suite #150. There is a large lobby with a long counter with staff members taking care of business. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who handed us the expected paperwork. Counters available to fill out the paperwork. We returned the filled out forms to the staff member. We sat down in the lobby. The lobby had a large number of comfortable places to sit. After a short wait, we were called by a staff member, and led to the examination room. There is a large staff and all were friendly, helpful and attentive. Questions we had were all answered. The appointment with Dr Billings was very successful. I have no qualms about returning to this doctor and/or group. The parking area is monitored by a parking attendant, there is a fee for parking. Depending upon the time of day this lot can become very busy. This area is conveniently located a block off of Lake Avenue and a couple blocks north of Colorado Boulevard. read more

Came here to see Dr. Gipsman for pain in my hip after giving birth. I got there right at 7 am which is when my appointment was for. I saw the Dr. at 7:40 AM after paperwork and waiting. He was very friendly and explained the four things wrong with my hip and suggested a PT place which accepts my insurance. I just wish that an appointment time was when you see the doc. read more

Let me preface by saying Dr. Amari was great...however, the reception staff is lacking. They are unfriendly and fairly incompetent in my experience. They act like you being there is an inconvenience to them. No hello when you sign in. They don't even look up. After my appt I had to call FOUR times to try to get my prescription moved to a new pharmacy, and guess what...never happened. Will not return here. read more

I will never go back to this practice. I went for a second opinion after I fell and injured my wrist. MRI showed two small fractures. My first visit with Dr. Billings was actually good; she seemed compassionate and listened to me. But when I went back for my follow up, it was like she was a completely different person. No physical exam, she just asked how I was and when I told her it still hurt to put weight on my wrist, she told me that might be as good as it gets. Didn't bother to check range of motion or evaluate my pain in any way. She was in & out in less than 5 minutes. No recommendations, no follow up, nothing. I was stunned and confused. I emailed follow up questions to her, as instructed by front desk staff via phone call & got no response. I called 2 weeks later to follow up on my email & was told she would need to see me so I took time off work & went back. Again, no physical exam & no real answers. Dr. Billings was condescending and dismissive. She called me sweetie several times (I'm almost 50 for chrissakes) & told me to move on. I was in tears. She seemed annoyed when I asked about physical therapy & practically ran out of the room after begrudgingly agreeing to give me a PT referral. (I've since seen the PT who assured me that this was not something I should just "get over" and that there were, in fact, things I could do to improve my outcome. I now have full range of motion back and am 100% weight bearing again thanks to PT.) What's worse is that this office is now trying to charge me a $75 co-pay for the third office visit that I was forced to schedule because Dr. Billings refused to answer questions via phone or email. (She finally responded to my email days after I saw with seemingly no memory of the visit.) I called my insurance company and they agreed that the visit had been coded wrong but Pasadena Orthopedics refuses to correct it and also never called me back when I called to address the issue with their billing department. The office is a disorganized mess and I received no compassion or care from anyone in it. read more

Dr. Billings is a straight forward honest doctor and I really appreciate her so much. I figured I should share my experience with her to hopefully save someone else from getting a surgery they potentially don't need and give insight on what you can expect with PRP. I came here out of a need for a second opinion after a few years of a problem getting worse with a thumb joint. (My hands are my source of income and joy) I had previously seen a top hand specialist at Cedars in mid city for an issue with a damaged joint that developed a big calcified lump on it and he had said surgery was the only way to fix it and it would potentially cause issues with the nerve if I get the surgery... which sounded ridiculous and not like a solution at all. Dr. Billings looked at the imaging, went over all my options and offered to try a steroid injection of sorts first and if it didn't help tone down the pain, she shared other options. I inquired about prp, she had said it's not usually recommended because the result always vary and insurance doesn't cover it but it would be worth trying in my circumstance and my age gave me a better chance of it providing some degree of relief. I ended up getting PRP in that joint. The procedure itself was extremely uncomfortable, she loaded my thumb joint with multiple jabs at different angles with a big vial or PRP and it left me uncomfortable and swollen for a couple days but it TOTALLY CLEARED MY PROBLEM. Like nothing was ever wrong with it in the first place! It took a couple or a few months but the lump slowly dissolved and the joint rebuilt and stabilized itself. Eventually I stopped paying attention and just realized one day that the huge bump was completely gone and that it hadn't hurt in forever. And this was over 3 or 4 years ago or more ... It was somewhere around $700 for the procedure out of pocket then it may have gone up since then. And that was 1 session. For older folks it may take a few and may not sort it completely but I will tell you if you're relatively young it is absolutely worth it. Just note you cannot take anti inflammatories for at least a month or 2 after so plan accordingly. And insurance will not cover prp. Also don't trust your insurance to have correct info on their website on whether or not she's in net and call to make sure before scheduling. Mine has incorrectly stated she's in net for 2 yrs now since she stopped excepting my plan. She's a really good doctor and if you can afford to pay out of pocket do it. The cost of time off from surgery and recovery would've surpassed the cost of what the procedure was and it is so hard to find a doctor well versed in how to administer PRP! I spent a lot of time making phone calls and reading reviews before going to her and I feel pretty lucky she's who I went with. read more

This is about my husband's experience, but I was there for every visit and procedure. My husband was hospitalized for cellulitis in late September/early October 2024. Thankfully, through my nagging, he already had a podiatry appointment with Dr. Shirazi. Dr. Shirazi looked at his X-rays, his foot history (is that a thing?), and said she was almost 100% positive that his cellulitis was related to a foot bone problem. The bone was contacting the skin, causing infection and calluses. She scheduled the procedure in December 2024 and a bone removal procedure (forgot the name). It was easy peasy outpatient with minimal pain (only Tylenol needed). The only issue was the awkward and uncomfortable boot! That was the worst part of the procedure!! The first procedure went so well that he had the other foot done in March 2025. It went exactly the same as the first procedure with minimal pain, but with the same complaints about the boot!! The entire staff is incredible and caring!! We appreciated everyone from Melissa (who has the patience of a saint) to Jennifer (who had to deal with a barrage of questions from my husband) to Dr. Shirazi (who was awesome personally, experienced, and with her surgical skill relieved all of his foot pain)!!! The warnings about Dr Billings are all true. I can only surmise she is a sadist and is incurious about learning about people's injuries. She bent my wrist viciously without warning and then proceeded to push harder in all directions despite my yells. This was before xray. The xray showed no fracture, but there's no way it would show a sprain. I asked what she thought happened and she said "you did something that made your wrist angry." To top it off she had a student observing and this student was visibly disturbed by the Dr's clear mishandling. Avoid at all costs. read more

Dr. Movassaghi always was my mother's surgeon for her recent knee replacement surgery. In preparing for her surgery Jennifer work diligently to make sure not only all of the authorizations and pre-material was ready and available for the doctor prior to surgery. She made sure my mother had all of her prerequisite labs and appointments, and insured my mother had all of the information she needed to feel calm and taken care of. Mom says she is always pleasant and always returns her calls, same for all of the other employees of the office. This review is to really highlight Jennifer and Dr. M's exemplary and compassionate service. As a leader in managed healthcare, I understand how nerve wrecking major surgeries are, especially for our senior community, and I am particularly aware to recognize the importance of the micro moments. Jennifer really made sure my mother was seen and taken care of and for that I will be eternally grateful!! One concern though, is the front desk staff in the office. Often rude and curt they leave a little bit more to be desired in the experience than dealing with the entire Pasadena orthopedics team. Went for initial shots in my shoulders for pain. They never got back to me with a date for my shoulder injections after calling back numerous times they never were able to give an appointment always promising to get back to me. Also it's $10.00 to park all valet service parking. Valet only takes cash. They charged me $10.00 to park in the designated handicap parking with my blue hanger card updated and visible. I was told to pay $10.00 Handicap or not pay $10.00 or leave their very large empty parking lot. It was a quiet professional office everyone acted professionally the first procedure went fine. Got the bill paid it. Never heard anything from them again ...as I was scheduled for a follow up, it never happened. I ended up at OSS Orthopedic Surgery Specialists in Burbank. Dr Billings, is a totally reserved, introverted oddball and she sucks, she kept referring to me as "Sweetie" the whole time I was there and I'm a grown middle aged adult. My doctor friend said that was considered unprofessional and it would have bothered her as well. She also thought a steroid injection would give me a new hand. The appropriate protocol was PHYSICAL THERAPY. Billings gives odd stares and makes long weird pauses. Not very helpful. Dr. Gipsman won't even write notes.. how lazy can a person be?? No real help here, so at the very LEAST you should be able to give time off to recover from exacerbation of injuries!! Ugh!!! Useless!!! The worst part is their company logo is some bizarre sexual brand image reminiscent of an upskirt photo. You understand, the popular image of photographing women from the ground up, under their skirts. Ugh I have to see that every time I'm there. WHAT WERE YOU PEOPLE THINKING?! Dr. Billings is vicious, uncaring and really rough. I would avoid her and will never go back to her again! While describing my symptoms, she grabs my thumb and squeezed it really hard to the point that I nearly jumped off the table. Obviously, she knew exactly what was wrong but interrupted me to say that a shot would fix it. I told her that I really, really didn't handle shots well but she didn't care. She never even discussed any alternatives. She kept pushing for the shot and I said that she hadn't even told me what was wrong with my thumb yet. Then I asked her what caused it and her reply was "just life." I reluctantly agreed to the shot and as I was trying to prepare myself I asked her what exactly she was going to do and how long it would take. She looked irritated and said that it would take 5 seconds, which we both knew was a lie. The injection was absolutely excruciating and it took everything to stay still so that she could finish. When it was over she just says "all done" and I'm just sobbing because even though she was done, I was still in a huge amount of pain. She just looked at me put a box tissue on me and said she'd come check on me in a few minutes. I was absolutely traumatized and knew I couldn't drive home and stayed there until about 45 minutes later I asked her staff where she was. She came back in and was a bit nicer and asked if I felt better then told me not to cook that night because my thumb would be numb. I asked how long the injection's effectiveness would last and she only said most people only need one shot. My entire hand hurt more and more as the night went on - something I wasn't prepared for. I'm nearly a week out from the shot and I'm not that that shot helped me at all. read more

She made me custom orthotics by doing a 3D scan of my feet and this completely eliminated my heel pain. She also got rid of my nail fungus with laser when none of the over the counter stuff worked. I have seen 3 doctors here. 2 of which are not responsible, Dr Mathewson for knee. During my appt he never once looked at me in the eyes and immediately suggested a cortisone shot. I sm happy i said no because i am on a couple meds which should not be mixed with this shot. He never asked me if i was taking any meds. The other was Dr Shirazi for foot. I ended up with a very expensive pair if show insoles. I gradually broke them in. After 3 months I walked 20 minutes like I was doing. I ended ip with a knee meniscus tear. Omg. I tried to get a refund for these very very priced i doles. With no communication from her. Find another orthopedic group. Not this one. read more

My husband and I both come here for our orthopedic issues, and we applaud the doctors we've seen and the staff who keep things in running order! The main draw for us is this: their treatment philosophy -- to try everything to avoid surgery, unless it's absolutely necessary, of course. Lucky for us, that's exactly what we hoped for! But if we do end up needing it, I trust these doctors. They spend time to make sure you understand your options and make an informed decision. The second, important issue is the doctor's bedside manner. You feel "seen and heard" and not just a body or a specimen! I recall one appointment when the doctor even said, "it's good to see you!" The third issue is the way they conduct their business--you don't ever feel like you're being rushed along, like an assembly line of appointments! Last but not least is the staff--very efficient and accommodating--we have been fortunate to have been able to get an appointment when we need to, make changes if necessary, and get information in a timely manner with proper follow-through! She performed Dupuytren's contracture surgery hand surgery on me at Huntington Hospital, conducted multiple follow up visits, and coordinated visits to physical therapy --- all of which has done wonders for my recovery. I visited this location twice for two separate health conditions. I will just state what happened and leave it up to you to decide whether this office is someone you would want to care for you. My first visit was concerning sciatic pain. I saw Dr. Ameri. He was cordial and seemed knowledgeable on the surface, but that was soon put into doubt. He asked me to have a ct performed to look further at my spine. I did so and when the results came in I was called by this office saying they ordered the wrong ct. The ct I need to have done must be done at Huntington Hospital instead and before going I need to have a blood test. I went and got the blood test and waited for the results. I got another call from this office saying they ordered the wrong blood test. That is all I needed to hear to know that Dr. Ameri or his staff are completely incompetent. I was not going to go further with him. I also found out the ct they wanted me to have would cost me $150 out of my pocket whereas the previous one was covered 100% by my insurance. Easy decision to fire this doctor whether it was his fault or his staff. Next Dr. Shirazi, a podiatrist in the same office that I saw for plantar fasciitis in my foot. I have had this before over 10 years ago and I knew that all I needed were two doses of cortisone. The first one does not take care of it. She was ok with the first dose and suggested a list of exercises to stretch out the fascia. After a month of doing these exercises the pain did not go away so I made another appointment to hopefully get the second injection of cortisone. In the meantime I did a little of my own research regarding different aspects of plantar fasciitis as to how you get it and also how to treat it. Of course online you will have one doctor saying one thing and another the exact opposite so when I did get to see her again I asked her about the differing opinions. She got a little defensive and wondered why I questioned her opinion. I told her concerning the exercises that one doctor said that if you have bone spurs on top of plantar fasciitis that the exercises would aggravate them further. She replied "I am your doctor not the internet". I also asked about the thought that walking barefoot causes this ailment and she was in agreement even though I told her I have walked barefoot my entire life. She also did not want to give me the 2nd injection even though I told her the first time I came down with this that it took two doses. In the end she seemed put off that I doubted her but she gave me the 2nd injection and as I predicted I am perfectly fine and can walk as much as I want to. I get that doctors are taught certain principles when they are in medical school, but to not have any flexibility in accepting other ideas, I have a problem trusting that physician. read more

1. Solved 50% of my issues hence the 2 stars. 2. Dr. Billings did not provide a care plan despite receiving a procedure and diagnosis which impacts my career. What provider does not offer a care plan? Dr. Billings wanted me to come back for my care plan after begging for it over the phone via front desk. One should never need to beg for care instructions and one should never have to pay for a care plan due to lack of due diligence. 3. I was diagnosed with 2 issues which have career and lifestyle implications, especially for someone in their early 30s. Prodding for more education on the diagnosis was shot down and chalked up to age LOL. I feel bad for senior folks coming here as they may be receiving insufficient care. 4. Front office needed to change my appt but I was never informed until I called the to beg for a care plan. 5. Telling me to get a new job to fix my issues is unprofessional and unwarranted. Doctors need to support my lifestyle and career by helping me take care of me and solving my health issues. Fast forward to a few weeks, I moved 7 hours away so I did the big drive and I took the day off from work for my follow up. My follow up appt ended up being 3-5 mins long and Dr. Billings did not look into other issues popping up due to being in a brace for 6 weeks. I'm waiting for my $500+ bill for nothing. I wouldn't drive more than 2-5 mins to come back as that's the level of effort provided. read more

I turned to this practice because of the need for a timely appointment. Looking for a hand specialist in Pasadena meant several weeks or even months of waiting lists. Dr. Billings at Pasadena Orthopedics was readily available. She was quick but very specific during my appointment and answered all my questions clearly. She identified my hand problems as actually two different issues (carpal tunnel plus significant arthritis in the thumb) and recommended specific treatment for each. I broke my ankle in a rock climbing accident 3 months ago and my insurance referred me to Pasadena Orthopedics. Dr. Gipsman performed ORIF surgery on my ankle two weeks after the accident and I've have an extremely smooth recovery following his instructions since. He even went the extra mile and was available by text/phone in the days after my surgery, which were rough as my system had to adjust to the pain medicine. Additionally, during the surgery, it ended up being a more involved operation than he thought, so he called my parents to let them know that everything was okay and it was just taking longer than expected, which I really appreciated. Dr. Gipsman was amazing and answered every question I have and I felt he really prioritized my goals in my recovery, which were to rock climb and be athletic again! He is very direct and open about what to expect at each stage of my recovery, and what to expect for the rest of my life since it was a bad break. I have nothing but optimism for me making nearly a full recovery thanks to him. Just three months out and I was able to start safely rock climbing and living my daily life again, just a little bit slower! My experience with the front office has also been completely stress free and I've had no issue scheduling appointments or dealing with re-schedules if needed. Their automated system also does a great job reminding you of appointments. They were also great at assisting with EDD paperwork or getting whatever forms my employer needed to approve my brief medical leave. I can't say enough good things about Pasadena Orthopedics. I've had chronic back, neck and feet pain for many years. I'm so glad my wife found these guys. It's so wonderful to see a team of young, bright and amazingly good doctors work together under one roof. I have met with Drs. Ameri, Shirazi and Rezvani. Very impressed with all of them. They are excellent doctors and very good at what they do. They listen intently and explain the situation and possible treatment options very clearly and not rushed.
