Years ago this was my go-to restaurant for celebrations, holidays, birthdays, dates, and occassional casual dining. The food was always wonderful, the waiters were consistent and professional, and the noisy room was somehow relaxing and comfortable. However, within the past year I have noticed a massive difference in the priorities displayed by the business. The day I decided I would not return to the restaurant under my own choosing was in January for an anniversary date. My partner and I made our reservations one week in advance. When we arrived, we waited at the door for roughly 15 minutes before being greeted or seated. When we said the name our table was under, the hostess appeared surprised and quickly checked the books and followed with an unsure "ummm" before running off, leaving us waiting at the door for another 5 minutes. Instantly, this gave us bad vibes. On the return of the hostess, she took us to an obviously make-shift table that was crammed right next to a small table where water jugs, wine, and cleaned cutlery were kept (so close that I could have knocked over the jugs with my shoulder, had I leaned slightly) and on the other side being a table that seated a group of 10 making an impossibly tight space between the tables. Already disappointed and uncomfortable, we tolerated another exhaustively long wait to simply order our drinks. After ordering, the waiter returned with waters and promised to be back with the drinks we had ordered. By that time, we felt strongly disappointed, hungry, and essentially worthless to the employees, and certainly felt that staying would only be a waste of our time and money so we decided to leave before the arrival of our drinks. While I do consider myself to be patient and understanding especially in the food & service industry, I strongly believe that no business should make you feel like you are wasting their time, or your own time and money. In summary: the food is admittingly very good but the company as a whole appears to prioritize quantity (how many people they can stuff in the establishment at once), over quality (the experience that makes customers want to return). read more

Any restaurant located within the chic Bishop's Landing scene, automatically garners points because of location. I love this little area, ripe with upscale shops and restos, as well as a magnificent waterfront view. Ristorante a Mano offers a bright dining room, albeit quasi-subterranean. The colors are splashy and vibrant, and upon entry, you'll be greeted by a display case teeming with delectable sweet escapes. With gelato, tiramisu, and cognac laced bread pudding, not to mention lemon cheesecake, the dessert offerings are enticing enough that you may simply choose to skip the main course. I advise you however, to not skip dinner and instead, have it all! The crostini antipasti with pears and gorgonzola is swoon worthy, while the vegetarian pizza is plump and tasty - and of course, the rucola salad with papaya and avocado is fresh and delightful. The prices are fair for the high quality offerings, and the service is attentive and helpful. Their wine selection is always rotating, but they do a nice job at picking out specific varietals to go with your chosen dish. Ristorante a Mano is a great spot in a lovely part of town. A Mano somehow manages to be bustling yet romantic, family friendly yet sophisticated, delicious yet unpretentious. Out for a date night, we scored a window table for two looking out on beautiful Bishop's Landing. But, as parents, it's nice to see that families are welcome here too - several toddlers and babies were in attendance. And why not? What's for kids not to like about a menu featuring pizza and gelato? Our appetizers - stuffed cremini mushrooms and jumbo shrimp - both rocked. When the waitress came to clear the plates, I was still trying to sop up the shrimp glaze with a few remaining leaves of arugula garnish. The main courses - seafood stew and veal scallopini - continued to impress. As a huge fan of bouillabaisse and fish chowder, I am always looking for a new twist on this dish and found it here. The only disappointment was one of our desserts. We ordered the NAFTA sundae, which the menu calls "the no. 1 Italian ice cream sundae". It tasted like vanilla gelato with a vanilla cookie and a few cherries on top - a little boring and a little overpriced at $9. The warm bread pudding with gelato and caramel, on the other hand, was outstanding. With gift certificate in hand, we popped in for an evening meal. It turned out to be a fantastic couple of hours. We settled at a table for two on one side of the restaurant. It had a high level of noise as mentioned by other Yelpers. As with most 5 star ratings, this one is primarily based on the service. Our waitress provided a fantastically engaging education on their red's and white's. She gave us a little taste of two - just to clarify our decision - based on her recommendation. She was at our table a half a dozen times just to get our wine order! The food was great. They have two different dishes with Gorgonzola! This is the first place that I have ever seen that! Again our waitress helped us to chose a desert to share - a caramelly cheesecake - excellent! It was a most relaxed, informal evening for two. As for the previous Yelp review that mentioned the mouse, well we didn't see any. Although being frequenters of the Halifax waterfront we have no doubt that they are there and, no doubt that this will make Ristorante a Mano a non-starter for many. But, being fans of the ocean and its varied wildlife, we think that sometimes one has to just get over it and, as a result, in this case, we profited from a great experience on the waterfront. read more

I have seen this place before while walking by and got the chance to try it last year for my sister-in law's engagement party. I don't remember the name of what I order but I can tell you that it was the right amount of spice & flavor that I couldn't stop eating it. The best part though was there gelato it was so good I kept going in for more, the 3 different flavors & everything just couldn't stop digging in. Will be back for sure. read more

It's just.. so.. delicious. I absolutely love this restaurant. It might be my favorite in the city. No it definitely is. I've never had a bad meal here! Consistency is important to me and they do not disappoint. I would recommend everything on the menu.. and don't forget the hazelnut gelato for dessert! Greeted in an efficient manner. The atmosphere was loud, lively but also romantic. Perfect for couples, groups, and families with children. Update!! Went back to a Mano. It was much busier this second time although the service was actually much faster, although unfortunately that didn't allow for as much one-on-one with the server so it didn't feel as warm but it was busy period. I, once again, got the lasagna. Not quite as soupy this time but still otherwise the same. Pleasant, but not the best I've ever had. And, as promised before, I asked for the flourless chocolate torte this time. Much to my disappointment, it has been permanently removed from their menu because it wasn't very popular. I was so let down... but I had the chocolate pound cake again and it was still good. Comes covered in the same raspberry drizzle with a dollope of whipped cream that the torte likely would have had. This place is class. The Pork Tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto is phenomenal. I believe i had it wrapped in pear 2 years ago. Both were amazing. The Spaghettini Con Polpette, spicy spaghetti with meat balls, is great. The pollo pizza is quality. I am yet to be disappointed by one of their salads. They Grande option is great for sharing. I really enjoyed the Italian Seafood soup. Good calamari. I think anything you order here is going to be tasty. Make reservations, it's usually very busy. Wine and drinks are pretty expensive. This is expected. However imagine if they had some cheaper wine... This place would be the best. read more

I was really really disappointed with my evening here. I heard so many great things on yelp. So we arrived around 7 I was expecting a wait as most yelpers said There would be one. So we asked me to be seated at the bar and wait for our table. We sat in the nice air conditioning and had a glass of wine. The bartender was very nice and made conversation. We waited about 25 minutes at the bar to be seated Not so bad. So we then get seated at a table set for 6 right at the front door And also beside the kitchen and boiling pizza oven. there were only 2 of us so we thought it quite a waste of a table. WE WERE ON FIRE! people kept pushing our table while standing to be seated. My friend literally had sweat pouring from her, So we asked the waitress if we could change tables To a 2 seated and they said no. We then asked if we could have a pitcher of water as we were So unbelievably hot, AND THEY SAID NO! I couldn't believe it! The waitress refilled our small water glasses around 8 times during our evening there. So we placed our order, and waited almost an hour to receive it. The manager came over and appoligized. However people seated after us were Happily eating, so clearly they forgot our order. So an hour later, sweat drenched and thirsty. I ordered the stuffed chicken, Was nothing to write home about My potato's were extreamly undercooked My veggies were also hard and undercooked. The chicken was tasty but nothing again to Write home about. My friends ordered a pene pasta dish, it was So oily, again nothing I couldn't have easily made At home. My bill came to $75 with a glass of wine and an appitizer I COULD NOT BELIEVE WE DIDN'T RECIEVE SOME SORT OF DISCOUNT FOR OUR HORRIBLE EVENING! I will absolutely not go back. read more

I went for lunch here on a Tuesday and was surprised with how busy it was! It wasn't full but was steady, yet the service was superb. My waiter was so friendly and made me feel right at home while I waited for my friend to arrive. We ordered the chicken pizza and spinach salad to share and it was more than enough food for both of us. Yet I didn't want either dishes to run out! The flavours were perfection and the crust on the pizza was thin but not to thin, was crunchy not brittle. I would definitely go back, I can't wait to share a pizza with my husband! read more

My spouse Tara and I visited a Mano for our second time as a dessert spot this week. We had excellent dessert experiences on both occasions. This time we were there in the late afternoon. There were a few other dining groups, but around 2:30pm was a relatively quiet time to enjoy dessert. We loved the atmosphere and serving staff on both occasions. The Operating Manager served us and remembered us from our first visit back in the fall. Our first visit we enjoyed gelato together. This time Tara tried the Nutella Crepe with vanilla gelato and I tried the double chocolate cake (gato). Both were amazing. Tara's crepe was warm and perfect and the combinations of yummy warm nuttella and the melting vanilla gelato was incredible. My chocolate cake was moist and delicious. The glacee on top was thick (not creamy) and an excellent compliment. If you like chocolate (not too rich) than I recommend it. It would be great with a side of gelato as well. We had our dessert with a latte each which was served in a tall glass wrapped with a napkin a bow to save your hands when the glass got hot. It was charming and a perfect latte. They have a full espresso bar to enjoy. Can't say enough about how wonderful both of our experiences at A Mano have been. We are looking forward to returning to try out their dining menu. read more

This is one of the most lively restaurants in the city. And if you've been to any family-run trattoria in Italy, you'll know that makes it pretty darned true to its namesake and offering. I love the energy here, but admittedly, it's not for everyone. If you're looking for a quiet place to bunker down and share a deep conversation, I'd pass. But, if you're looking for a great location to be boisterous and laugh with friends, this place is perfect. a Mano's wine list is always great and I find they tend to feature beautiful Italian wines that you can't always find at other locations - I've had Vernaccia, Montepulciano and Barbara D'Alba there, all of which tend not to make their way onto other wine lists in the city. I also find that the longer they're around, the better and more refined their menu gets. Since the first iteration of the menu when the restaurant opened to my visit today (and many, many others in between), I'm consistently more and more impressed and satisfied by what they offer. Their handmade pastas are always delicious (try the Arrabiata and the Gnocchi), the soups are belly-warming and satisfying and their daily fish special is always incredible. I tend not to get a pizza when I go here because I love everything else so much more, but they're always great, too. Oh, yes, and save room for dessert. The gelato is exceptional and the daily bread pudding has made its way back onto the menu. Eat one, both, or take it home, but don't leave without having something. Make sure you call ahead for reservations (even by 24 hours or more), as the place fills up fast and you'll be lucky to walk in on a Friday or Saturday night to find a seat. read more

Mangia! Mangia! 'A Mano' (as it is affectionately called by locals & tourists alike) is located at Bishop's Landing between the waterfront and Lower Water Street. It is rather unassuming at first glance as it is tucked away on the first floor, but the interior is charming and cozy. I came here with a date for lunch after hearing excellent things from pretty much everyone I know who has dined here. I was so excited to check this place out, I took a peek at the menu online before I went and I pretty much had my mind made up as soon as I walked in the door. We were quickly seated and greeted by our server. It turned out we were both in the mood for chicken and ordered half gallon of Pinot Grigio to share upon our server's astute recommendation. Our meals were served in less than 25 minutes and I could NOT wait to dig in and savor the fare for myself. Well.. Let me just say this place serves the best chicken parmigiana I have tasted in a very looong time. It was absolutely heavenly! My breaded chicken breast was perfectly cooked, tender & juicy. It was accompanied by veggies and yummy little nugget potatoes. Delicious! I can not wait to come back to 'a Mano' in the evening to enjoy a full course meal. Complimenti alla cuoco! read more

Gone here because a friend I was visiting had a friend who wanted to try this place... one of the only times I didn't plan out the meals on my trip out east... We arrive to meet her friends and they didn't make reservations...no problem. We put our name down for a 45 minute wait and almost 2 hours later get seated outside just because they were able to dry off the chairs and tables from the rain... it was never communicated to us at any point until we asked that the wait looks like it's going to be longer. I've heard of over-estimating a wait time but not under by that much. Food... got a pizza... wasn't great and wasn't bad but for the price definitely better in Toronto. Server asked the table is we would like some delicious bread for the table since we've been waiting for so long... some said yes. She put down the bread and most of us didn't even try any. It was on my bill... 2 orders for $5 a piece??? Why would that make sense to anyone...up selling but not informing and then randomly selecting who to drop an extra $10 tab on? After paying for my mediocre pizza and a pint of the wrong beer... this was just ridiculous. Sadly not living up to it's expectations and if it was up to me there's plenty of good places in the area, including their sister restaurant bicycle thief to try. read more

With a more welcoming, community feel than its popular sister restaurant Il Mercato, A Mano really does feel like a hint of Italy in our city. That does mean that the place can get quite loud and boisterous in the evenings (so intimate discussions should probably be taken elsewhere) but it adds to the charm. I find their pizzas to be a bit hit-or-miss. One favourite combined buffalo mozzarella, caramelized onions, mushrooms and truffle oil which I just about want to bathe in every time, while another (the bianco or blanco) sounded much better on the menu than what arrived at our table. Their gnocchi, on the other hand, was delightful and the best I've found since the loss of Piccolo Mondo. Their service is always quite lovely and their waiters are more than happy to help you out with anything that you need. Oh - and be sure to ask them if they have any Bread Pudding. I don't believe it's on the menu (I've heard rumours they keep it to special requests for regulars, but maybe they were just trying to make me feel important), but it's unbelievable. They tend to change it up from night to night, but whether it's their maple version or with chocolate chips, it's out of this world. read more

Italian food is my favourite. My last meal on earth would be a Margherita pizza- so it's not entirely shocking that I am a fan of a Mano. After a somewhat off-putting phone conversation to make a reservation (Me: "Hi, I'd like to make a reservation for 2 people at 7pm on Friday". Employee: "Ok, so Friday at 7:45 for how many people?" Me: ".....") I was impressed the reservation actually existed. The place was packed and we had to wait a few moments for our table- no big deal. Our sever was super- gave us what we needed, had a personality but wasn't all up in our business. And the food? Delicious. We split the Bruschetta Miste (3 different types of Bruschetta.) to start- it was tasty, but not huge and kind of awkward to share. My friend had a pasta of some sort- it looked tasty and I (of course) had the Margherita pizza. My only complaint would be they were a little scarce on the cheese. I get that it's not supposed to be smothered in cheese like the pizza you get at a typical pizza shop, but a few more dollops would have still been ok. For dessert we split some kind of awesomeness with gelato, chocolate and Baileys. I have no idea what it was called but it was pretty much the stuff dreams are made of. All in all, despite the restaurant being very busy and loud (in a good way.. I am a big fan of the hub bub) we didn't once feel rushed and the food didn't take too long. Hurray! read more

My girlfriend and I hit up aMano after a delicious lunch at the market. Our sweet teeth (whatever) were throbbing and she'd heard amazing things about their caramel cheesecake. While I initially visited with the intention of trying said cake, as soon I saw they offered nutella-filled crepes with vanilla gelato, my mind was changed. Girlfriend got the cake she wanted, and I was served up an enormous plate of richness. Each bite was a dream. The crepes were perfect - not soggy, not too chewy - and the gelato melting into everything was a nice touch. Tried girlfriends' cake and (shocker) it too was unreal. I enjoyed the caramel brittle best. The restaurant only had a few patrons while we were there, but it was about 2pm, so fair deal. No complaints about the waitress; she was lovely. Our seating was even better: the back patio with a sweet view of the harbour. All awesome. The only part of aMano that didn't rub me right was the ladies room. It was kind of hot and smelly in there. Perhaps some candles would help? Potpourri? I know, s*** happens, but it made for an icky end to an otherwise lovely dessert. I'll be back for certain, and next time for dinner. Superfast service with a reasonable price and a great location. Can't imagine there are too many better places--or better values--for dinner in Halifax. These Hali-famous restauranteurs are like culinary royalty, and I still get butterflies whenever I stroll into one of the Bertossi's fine eateries! Here's the scoop: My family is slightly argumentative (or "downright bonkers" as my boyfriend puts it), so getting SIX Allen girls to agree on ONE restaurant is a triumph in itself. I promised the family that a Mano was awesome, so it was on me if anything went wrong. Spoiler alert: Nothing went wrong. It was awesome! The food: With the holidays behind us and the Visa bills ahead, my family was understandably budget-consious. Although the prices were a bit higher than they'd hoped, they were thrilled with the generous portion sizes and recognized the value. My aunt is allergic to blue cheese, so we swapped the gorgonzola on the Pear Crustinis for goat cheese... heavenly! The drink: I had a classic gin martini and it hit the mark perfectly. It was "just a touch dirty" (as I always request but rarely get at many restaurants). The service: While our server wasn't really warm and fuzzy, we had no complaints. The atmosphere: It's always slightly embarrassing dining with my family because we spend most of the evening trying to yell over each other. Fortunately, this wasn't an issue at a Mano. When I want great Italian ambiance and fantastic food, A Mano is one of my favorite places in the city. Yes, I can't eat everything on the menu (lots of delicious dairy and gluten abound!), but I can find plenty of pleasing options that fill my belly. Everything is fantastic, I swear. I love the staff; they are warm, friendly and often have a great sense of humor. It'll feel somewhat familial, I bet. Now, getting back to the "ambiance". I love it, but some people dislike the fact that when it's busy, it's busy, and at A Mano, busy means noisy. The place is more clamor than quiet, but I like the bustle and celebration that seems to be present along with the sights and sounds. Not the place to go if you want a quiet dinner for two, though. Lunches are quieter than dinner, and it's a great pick if you want a nice lunch in a great setting at a relatively quick pace, if you are in the area. Mostly I pick a place to dine on the guarantee of something tasty and the knowledge that I'm going to have a good time with whomever I'm dining with. I have to confess, I don't think of this place often, but I always end up having a good meal here. Owned by the Bertossi group, you're in good hands. The restaurant is dark and always busy, and fairly noisy too. Service is usually fast and friendly. On my last visit, I ordered the handmade pumpkin filled pasta. It had a brown butter sage sauce and toasted almonds. It was awesome, so so good, and it was at a reasonable price of $15. The portion size wasn't huge, but it left me room for dessert. I had nutella filled crepes with vanilla gelato - yum! Really delicious. I need to think of this place more often! read more

A very nice place with excellent service. A friend and I each ordered a pizza and had a few drinks. The pizza was thin-crust and the ingredients & crust was fresh. I then had the desert the server recommended and it was excellent. (Tiramisu). We sat at the bar since we had no reservation and the place was packed and the two servers behind the bar showed excellent teamwork and those guys also were professional and friendly. It was an excellent experience and we will be back guaranteed. The price was actually surprisingly low compared to the quality of food and service. The bathroom was very clean. read more

Ristorante a Mano - Tirimisu - Italian Near Me - Halifax, Nova Scotia

I'm a fan of Ristorante a Mano, yet I don't visit it very often. Why? Well, I guess it just comes down to options. If I'm craving pasta, I tend to head to Il Mercato and if I'm craving pizza, I tend to stop at Morris East. But I've enjoyed my two visits to A Mano, so perhaps I'll have to try it a few more times and re-evaluate. I've ordered the same pizza both times I've gone to a Mano - the tartufata, which has bechamel sauce, mozzarella, wild mushrooms, caramelized onions and truffle oil. It was basically made to please me, and it's delicious. I also enjoyed my cocktail, but I was disappointed that we didn't get any bread while we waited for our meal like you do at many other restaurants. Next time I go I plan on trying the gnocchi, which I hear is great - maybe it'll convince me to go back more often. read more

A Mano has been on my list to visit for a while now, so I was almost (almost) thrilled to hear that the Goggle was being renovated and was closed last Thursday -- gave us a perfect reason to change things up and head down the hill to have some Italian. First impression -- lovely setting, very cozy and warm on a brisk January evening. I walked in and the smell of garlic butter practically had me swooning. It was on the busy side, even for a Thursday, but we were seated promptly and I had my glass of red in hand in a jiffy. Our server was enthusiastic and helpful -- and I can't judge her for interrupting our conversation really... Boyfriend's sister and I are the chattiest two people ever, so I can't imagine there was ever an appropriately silent moment to come to our table. She did what she could. I had a starter of flat bread with truffle oil and (my substitution) goat cheese. While the provolone probably would've been yummier, this was really good and just what I wanted (lots o' bread and cheese). Also tried some of the crostini with pear and Gorgonzola and that is truly amazing. Even if you're not a fan of blue cheese, the balance of sweet pear and tangy blue cheese is PERFECT. Definitely a must-try. I had the Italian seafood soup as a main, and it was equally perfect. Though I should probably preface that by saying I'm addicted to this kind of soup, so I may be a bit biased. Lots of mussels, one clam (I think for presentation), and I wasn't sure what the fish was that was included. Some kind of whitefish certainly, but didn't seem like haddock, so I was at a loss. My only mini complaint is that it only had one scallop and one shrimp (boo) -- but this isn't surprising, since it is an appetizer dish. If it was listed as a main, I would've been angry. Not as unreasonable for an appy. I'll definitely be returning to A Mano, if only to try an actual main next time. read more

This resto is divine. Upscale foods and a beautiful space with delicious ingredients, make this one of my stops for special occasions. Although at times you feel like the space is too crowded, you quickly get over it because most people understand that and do not get angry with encroaching patrons. Although we did have an extremely large group, they some how managed to fit a large table the entire length of the restaurant and took all of our orders in a timely fashion and had them all prepared at the same time. Which was so nice, everyone getting their meals together. Fantastic! The pasta is delicious, but depending on what you order, the portion may be small. But their concoction of ingredients is divine. Pizzas are large. Alcohol selection is great, with local beers being only $5. Wine selection is a tad pricey. Overall it is a great place with a great feel for special occasion celebration read more

I've been here 4 times now and have loved it each time! The service is always friendly, and prompt; food and drink are amazing and the atmosphere is fun. I haven't tried any food there I didn't like. The Calamari and stuffed mushroom caps are the best in the city. The only thing that is a bit of a downfall (pending on your mood) is that it is quite a noisy restaurant so I wouldn't go there for a romantic date. However if you go, it's a must that you try their homemade Gelato! read more

That's it. I have found the best pizza in Halifax. It's here. No question. I've been lucky enough to go to Italy 3 times and there is no question that eating pizza in Italy is an experience. Anywhere you go, you will get a stunningly good slice. A Mano is almost as good. Really. When we walked in, the place was packed and LOUD (which is really my only criticism, but a mild one at that). Instead of waiting for a table, we decided to sit at the bar. Having already had a beer before getting here, and since I was driving, I chose water but my girlfriend had a very nice glass of Vernaccia of San Gimignano, which was one of the towns we visited last year. We decided to order 2 pizzas and share. If you want to know if a place makes good pizza, order the Margherita. When the only toppings are tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella and basil, there's nowhere to hide. If the ingredients aren't of the utmost freshness and quality, you WILL know. A Mano, my friends, gets it right. Fresh, bright, exuberant flavours, all from 3 ingredients. Our other pick was the Prosciutto e Rucola. The saltiness of the prosciutto marries so well with the peppery taste of the arugula. I wish they put more arugula on it as I've really enjoyed this style of pizza in Italy with a thick layer of fresh arugula. Again, I'm being picky. This was awesome. I'm now looking forward to trying other things on their excellent looking menu! read more

An Italian kids menu which leaves your stomach full of acid. A good atmosphere should be expected but it doesn't change the fact that their spaghetti and meatballs tastes like a firecracker. Don't waste your money, you can find many other great restaurants right around the corner. read more

Casual, but not too casual, great food....where to go? where to go?...Amano! I'd been there several times before and knew this would fit the bill. It was busy, but not packed. It can be a loud restaurant. I like hustle and bustle and a little bit of volume so I don't mind, but something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet night out. Service was very professional. Okay, so the food. I'll start with the highlight: baked caramel cheesecake with caramel toasted almond topping, caramel sauce and almond brittle. If that sounds good, I can assure you that it tastes even better. I even managed to eat it after eating a pasta dish and appie - yikes! Stick with me while I continue to describe my meal in reverse chronological order: for a main I had cheese tortellinni with prosciutto, cream and parm(salty, rich and yummy) and for an appetizer I had stuffed clams. All-in-all a decadent and delicious meal. I think swapping the clams for a salad would be the perfect trifecta. Others items tried at the table: tiramisu, pizza, crepes, calamari. I have eaten here for lunch several times and never have been disappointed. From the greeting at the door, through to the table service and incredible food, they get it! The salads are delicious. This was my first time as well as my husband's to the Restaurant a mano. We arrive at 9pm on Friday night and it was packed but we were seated within a few minutes of arriving with was great. It seems to be the place where a lot of young single women eat because there were tables of 5-7 women chatting over pasta and wine. It had a very warm and cozy ambiance to it so I was hopeful the food would be great. We ordered the flash fried calimari which was cooked perfectly but very salty. I had a hard time eating the calimari but my husband loved it. I ordered the Beet and goat cheese salad with hazelnut dressing and it sounds tasty but not at all. I wasn't impressed it seemed to be missing something. My husband had the chicken pasta which was very tasty. Wine list very pricey even for a single glass at $10 for the cheapest. Overall the atmosphere was great, food was Ok, but service was amazing. The manager even came over when he noticed we were waiting on the waitress which wasn't long to ask us if we were looked after. That impressed me but the food could use a little something more. read more

I like the food at this place a lot, but even more than that, I like the atmosphere. A little crowded, a little busy - but not so noisy that you can't hear your table-mates- a little dark. Fast, friendly servers, and gourmet pizza like you crave in your dreams. My favourite dish is the Pizza Tartufata - wild mushrooms, truffle oil and roasted onions. The first time I had this, the flavours struck me as unexpectedly rich and delicious. I've had it a few times since, with slightly less flavour impact - maybe they're skimping on the truffle oil? - but it's still an enjoyable and original dish. Lots of other tasty and unique pies to choose from, and some excellent desserts, including several fresh gelatos ,round out a good meal here. read more

I want what he had. I ordered the veal and it was dry. It didn't have any sauce with it and it was two little cutlets. I made it through one and the veal itself wasn't overly dry but with the breading it was too much for me. I enjoyed the wine and my dining companion thoroughly enjoyed his chicken and pasta dish. I forgot what he had but I wish I had it too. If you ignore my review and eat here then please don't get the veal. Try something else, and if you want to be safe the chicken and penne dish was toothsomme (or so I heard). They have plenty of interesting wine to try but I wouldn't rely on the waitstaff to help you. Friendly staff but not very knowledgeable and when they are busy the staff has trouble managing the workload and you will feel abandoned. read more

Tartufata-- tough to say but, oh so good to eat. One of this place's signature pizzas, this has a winning combo of quality ingredients: speck, cheese, lots and lots of caramelized onions, and a drizzle of truffle oil, on a thin but chewy crust. Gorgeous! Our server was charming and very efficient. We were the first to sit down, but within a very short time the place was packed. Clearly Ristorante a Mano is doing something right! read more
