The loaded fries. It was a tasty treat for sure. All the good groups here!

Crazy crowded and they don't reserve tables for larger groups. I know why.... They don't have to! This place was rockin' but the hostess and wait staff did their very best to set our group and they did fabulous given the insanity of the crowd! The service was superb and would been anyway, but as busy as they were, we were well tended too and even had time to chat our servers. The food was well above top shelf and whine folks described the menu as 'pub fare' they must get to some super pubs because the food was amazing and delish! As you can see from the photos we ate well. The dishes were amazing portions and every dish was enjoyed and consumed With a smile! Tess was our main server, she was awesome, and she took excellent care of us. It was a pleasure to be there and we had a great time while drinking and dining there! Check it out but come early or prepare for a wait. That said, you will be richly rewarded for your wait time with great service and food! Tess thanks a bunch. Your colleagues as well. It was a superb team effort! We had a great time.

Nice friendly gastropub. Dropped in for a quick lunch. I had the Jalapeño Mac n Cheese and Carolyn opted for the poutine. The mac was well done and rich. Next time I will share the mac and maybe a sandwich. Carolyn love the poutine, great flavors combined with skill. It's a must do again. Service was excellent and friendly. Our server, Claudia, was a delight. And an asset to the pub. Facility is lots of windows and wood with lots curiosities and photos on the walls. Inside or enclosed patio dining. Highly recommend.

Second stop on our afternoon amble, I thought I should try their new space, opened last year after the fire closed the original. What a lovely spot! Probably around half the size, the decor is a delight, with wood panelling, subtle lighting and generally a cozy feel. There's a covered, all season deck by the front door, with a seasonal uncovered patio on the street, which is where we sat. We only came for a drink and enjoyed a couple of excellent Chambry wheat beers. The beer menu was one of the original hooks at the Goat, but it's a lot shorter now. Still something for everyone, including the devilish Delirium Tremens, for those looking to take the Short Path. The place was very busy early afternoon and apparently trade runs a lot later now it's down on Argylle, rather than tucked away on Grafton. Staff are, as ever, delightful and efficient and it looks like, risen from the ashes, the Goat is ready to retake its place among the premier establishments in Halifax.

We popped into the quaint pub for drinks and apps, sat on the outdoor patio. We loved the pizza with avocado! I also had a local drink called Blue Lobster! Service was fine but we were also there mid afternoon on a drizzly day. It's pretty spacious inside!

Perfect mood and ambience for a few cocktails and incredible meal! I got the SG burger and the whiskey bacon Mac and both were great. Highly recommend.

Overall an ok dinner at a moderate price, and the food was hit and miss. Atmosphere is enjoyable, and decor is definitely a tempting to be upscale. There was a mixture of families and adults for our dinner. Service was awesome, and staff were extremely accommodating and nice (especially with my nieces and nephew). The downfall for me was the food. Fish and chips were massive portions, but batter was too thick and still tasted of uncooked batter (fish ok). Lobster BLT was missing the lobster punch, but Caesar salad was delicious (though $6 additional cost vs fries). An average dinner all around, but not meeting the higher food standards I'd expect from a gastropub.

Decent spot in downtown Halifax. Stopped in for a late lunch after visiting the Citadel. Service was extremely friendly and they were very accommodating for our infant. Ordered a bunch of different foods, including mac and cheese, chicken wings, the lobster club, and lobster poutine. I'm not a poutine purist, so this was fairly decent. I liked the poached egg on top, which eventually mixed with the cream sauce and gravy. The mac and cheese was decent, though needed a bit of salt. Not a ton of lobster this time around, but that doesn't appear to be the norm. The lobster club was great, though they only have rye bread, which wasn't our favorite, but not bad. The chicken wings were greasy, though the sauces were quite good. I got both on the side and dipped as I saw fit. My favorite combo was the Buffalo sauce with the truffle honey - sweet plus heat. Extensive beer menu as well, with lots of local choices. Overall, I like what they're going for, but I don't think they're quite there yet. Still, a decent spot for food and beer.

Risotto croquettes, great mushroom flavour and crisp shell. Get these!

Drift was once on the list of top 100 Canadian restaurant, and we've decided to have lunch here…read moreduring our trip to Halifax. Reservation is easy and there's still plenty of spots for Friday lunch with same day booking. The vibe here is relaxing and quiet with the restaurant entrance hidden inside a hotel. Service is good too. The chef has demonstrated quite solid cooking skil and my suggestion is to go with the fancier dish here where the chef clearly pays more attention to, compared to dishes like fish and chips. I tried a classic cocktail with gin as the base. It turned out to be very refreshing. For food, Caesar salad was delicious. Pan fried cod fillet was cooked perfectly, very tender and went well with the roots vegetables. It was my favorite dish here. Lobster pasta was also delicious. Fish and chips were average, definitely not comparable to some of the food truck places. Fries were dry and tasted bitter. Overall, this is a good restaurant with great food quality, good service and nice environment. I would consider revisiting if I'm in Halifax again.

What do you think of when you're heading out east ? Seafood of course ! Let me tell you... I've got…read morea new appreciation for it after my trip last week. We've had a trip planned to golf Cabot for the last few years. The texts and emails were flying delays, cancelled trips and in general , I never thought it would happen. Surprisingly, Halifax was a quick little flight from Toronto and am I ever glad we did it. First off, we talked about getting lobster on the side of the road at shacks etc, blah blah blah but as soon as we landed we headed to meet a friend who said we must try this lobster croissant sandwich at The Drift. OMG OMG OMG ! Could be one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted but you know what was even better, the Chablis, no, the lobster pasta, no... It was the lobster fritters. They were insane ! The fritters are a bit like a conch if you've ever had that in the BVIs but they are battered so perfectly with a zesty hint of like that is so perfect, it's too hard to describe. Over the top crispy timbit deliciousness with lobster. The drift is a MAJOR win, it's along the water in Halifaxs best hotel the Muir and it's just perfect. Our trip was filled with Oysters and I have to say, each place had slightly different variations but I will NEVER say I had a better Oyster than in Halifax. If you hear me say it, just call me out because we had at least 4 Oysters each at around 6 places and they were all better than anywhere I've ever eaten in the world, almost to the point where I didn't need the sides (almost). I am so glad I visited Halifax, oh and by the way, the golf at Cabot was insane ! INSANE ! Was it better than Cabot St Lucia ? Nope, but I give Cabot St Lucia a 9.8 and I give Cabot Cape Breton a 9.6. STOP right there ! I had the crab shack , I had the crab shack and oh my gosh was it good. Just outside Cabot is the best little shack with the freshest little sandwiches on fluffy buns. Check it out right here- get the mainlander sandwich and the crab bretoner. The mainlander is warm lobster spiced up on the bun, heaven ! And the crab bretoner is chilled crab, mix up perfectly with aioli, green on and a few other things. If you're near Inverness you better stop there. Ok ok ok , I'm writing all of this as I go but on the Sunday we end up at the 5 fishermen. Order the lobster, the carbonara lobster , the chowder and Oysters at every single place you go in Halifax and thank me later. I wasn't expecting to love the food this much, wow ! If you're there on a Sunday, hit Durty Nellys. In my Opinion it's the best pub in the world- yep ! See ya next week :)
