The pesto gnocchi were incredible, the pesto was light and perfect . The zuppa de Pesci was incredible, flavorful and insatiable. The best of the best . Highly recommend, can't do better .

Un pesto da non dimenticare. We came here while avoiding all the little tourist traps and seeing there were many local travelers we knew we were in the right spot. The owner for sure is a bit standoff-ish but it's totally ok. The food for sure spoke for itself. Being that we don't eat seafood and are vegetarian we couldn't enjoy all the other amazing dishes everyone was enjoying but they all looked pretty incredible. We ordered some local cheeses for antipasto then enjoyed the incredible gnocchi al pesto. Erano grossi, buonissimi e come una nuvola (like a cloud). These aren't the traditional gnocchi size but they were so incredible and unforgettable. They weren't with pesto, they were COVERED in pesto. I love that all the pesto dishes they toss right in front of you. Please don't expect the gross, garlic, pesto that is over oiled and over seasoned: this is the real pesto coming from Genova, the motherland of pesto. The flavors were delicious, fresh, traditional and absolutely incredible. We couldn't skip dessert and I happened to have one of the best tiramisù I've ever had. We ordered a local Monterosso white with our food and it for sure was amazing and completed our meal. Give some love to this family owned restaurant. Don't be a tourist. Be kind, be patient and adapt to the local culture. Perhaps you too will end up having a meal you won't forget if you just keep an open mind.

The area is known for their pesto, so that's what we had. We had it with both spaghetti and gnocchi. The pasta dishes were big. Each could've fed two, but we ate all of it. The pesto was fresh and so good. This restaurant had a line but the wait wasn't so bad. The tomato and mozzarella caprese was really good as well--fresh and tasty. We doused it with the table side olive oil, and it was delicious. So fresh.

If you are looking for authentic pasta, look no further. The pesto here is so delicious, lots of garlic, Genoa basil,... So yummy!!!. Great service great location. Also try the Clams linguine, unbelievable!!!

    Swordfish fillet

Unfortunately this was one of the worst restaurants we visited during our recent stay in Cinque Terre. We ordered the pesto gnocchi and fish of the day (swordfish fillet). The gnocchi was the size of dumplings and had a mushy texture. The pesto was also under-salted. It was hard to eat. The swordfish fillet was overcooked, the chewy texture was so disappointing. The saving grace of that dish was the abundance of grilled veggies to mask the chewiness of the fish. In an area with an abundance of great seafood, do yourself a favor and skip this spot.

My girlfriend was eating her squid ink pasta, then suddenly she bit into something hard and felt like glass! She spit it out immediately, only to her aghast, it was a big piece of glass. The manager Mario did a horrible job managing the situation, denying their responsibility.

    Metal wire

I ordered spaghetti and meat sauce and there was a metal wire in my food!!! My family and I mentioned it to a waiter there and he was very rude. He said "so what we clean our plates with metal sponges." He acted like it was no deal that I could've swallowed a metal wire. Food was okay but waiter was rude. Not to mention we waited an hour to even get seated and they forgot about us after we sat down for over thirty minutes.

    The owner and amazing host.

Excellent atmosphere and amazing food. The owner was involved in our ordering and the presentation. It was THE best overall meal in our 10 days in Italy. Highly recommended!

The Altkirch Chardonnay accompanied our meal very well

I ate here over five years ago and I still think about the pesto gnocchi. It might have been the best Italian meal I've ever eaten.

As we walked by, we noticed some of their employees inside so we asked if we could make a reservation for dinner for 6pm or 6;30pm. They recommended 6pm and took my name. We arrived promptly at 6pm and were the 2nd table seated. I'm so glad we came early. Over the next few nights we noticed so many people waiting outside all night long. I will tell you that my branzino was amazing. Fresh and cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed my healthy meal and I don't mind deboning a whole fish myself. My daughter had the linguine with clams which was also very delicious. My son had the pesto lasagna which was so-so. We were expecting red sauce bolognese so it could just be that we just had different expectations. He also ordered the steak and enjoyed it. My husband had the fruitti de mare and thought it was just okay. Something to know is that because they are so busy with so many people waiting, they like you to order everything together. We noticed a server who got frustrated with another table who tried to order apps, and then tried to order the main meals after they finished them, then dessert. These employees are hustling and trying to turn tables, as you see the queue outside waiting. It's a tiny cozy restaurant with a lot of demand. I would recommend this place for certain dishes, especially the fresh fish.

Excellent Choice For Dinner…read more.. My wife and I arrived in Monterosso al Mare for the first week of our vacation around Cinque Terre. Where to eat? Our hotel - Villa Steno.....a wonderful place - plotted several recommendations on a map. The first place we tried was Oscar. Our impressions were as follows: Pros: - Most of the seating was on the patio out front which was delightful - We shared the Seafood Salad and Pasta with Seafood. Both were great! The second dish was among the best I've ever tried. - Dark bread accompanying dinner was amazing - A bottle of local Sauvignon Blanc went perfectly with the meal - It seemed the owner or one of the owners served all the customers. She was friendly, efficient and how she did it I'll never know. - Prices were very reasonable for everything we ordered Cons: - Only one: Oscar, like most restaurants in town, opened at 7 PM which was a bit late for us Americans. Both my wife and I heartily suggest trying Oscar.

I was concerned that this place would be a horrible tourist trap but the waiters were friendly, the food was delicious and the place was packed due to its location. I had the seafood pot and it was more seafood than I expected. The clams were smaller but there were lots of them. There were a lot of mussels and also a meaty octupus tentacle. They were all prepared in a great tomato based sauce and came with a toast loaf of bread. It was excellent!!! My wife had the seabass and also enjoyed the meal. The waiters were friendly and not pushy. We really enjoyed the views. Definitely, this was a good dinner location in Monterosso! Enjoy!

The restaurant felt cozy on the rainy May night, but I can see in Summer it would also be a perfect spot for a long dinner with the windows open and the fresh sea breeze. They have an extensive wine list with a lot of great options available from the surrounding Cinque Terre wineries, we chose a Vermentino (to sip on once we'd finished our delicious Negroni's to start). Before the meal arrived we were served complimentary snacks, the fried fish ball was INCREDIBLE. To start we shared the local anchovies that came six ways - 3 cold followed by 3 warm - the stuffed anchovies and lemon marinated ones were the tables favorite, we also shared the scallops which were cooked to perfection. For mains, I went with the local catch of the day which was a delicious white fish, my brother had the tuna and I was extremely jealous after trying, it was full of flavor and melted in your mouth. For dessert, I highly recommend the lemon dessert with meringue, our whole table fell in love with this. The service throughout the evening was excellent and attentive and we all enjoyed our night here. I highly recommend a visit to Miky if you're in Cinque Terre
