Our Airbnb was just around the corner from Da Eraldo and I had discovered them based on their high reviews. As we walked by, we noticed some of their employees inside so we asked if we could make a reservation for dinner for 6pm or 6;30pm. They recommended 6pm and took my name. We arrived promptly at 6pm and were the 2nd table seated. I'm so glad we came early. Over the next few nights we noticed so many people waiting outside all night long. I will tell you that my branzino was amazing. Fresh and cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed my healthy meal and I don't mind deboning a whole fish myself. My daughter had the linguine with clams which was also very delicious. My son had the pesto lasagna which was so-so. We were expecting red sauce bolognese so it could just be that we just had different expectations. He also ordered the steak and enjoyed it. My husband had the fruitti de mare and thought it was just okay. Something to know is that because they are so busy with so many people waiting, they like you to order everything together. We noticed a server who got frustrated with another table who tried to order apps, and then tried to order the main meals after they finished them, then dessert. These employees are hustling and trying to turn tables, as you see the queue outside waiting. It's a tiny cozy restaurant with a lot of demand. I would recommend this place for certain dishes, especially the fresh fish. read more

Good reviews so we decided to try it. Bread was weird more like a biscuit than bread. I had gnocchi with meat sauce and my husband had the spaghetti with clams, white wine and chilis. Gnocchi was okay. Huge portions - I couldn't eat a third of it. My husband's pasta was okay but pretty bland and didn't have much sauce or spice to it. I did notice people did have reservations, however my daughter and I were able to squeeze in without one. Sitting outside, this was exactly what I was looking for: excellent Italian seafood, al fresco dining experience in a coastal town. I ordered the fish of the day that came served with the local bread. Finished this with a glass of the local wine and it was delicioso! Another Excellent Dinner Choice - And It Opens Early! Monterosso al Mare is the biggest town in Cinque Terre and has a ton of restaurant choices for dinner. For our 3rd of 7 nights, we chose Da because it had great reviews and opened at 6 PM which is very unusual for the area. Maybe that's why people were lining up at 545 PM? Here are some of the pros and cons: Pros: - Most of the food was heavenly, including a shared Vegetable Platter and desserts. Why can't they offer such a platter in the US? - Service was friendly and helpful...especially for 2 people with very limited Italian. Fortunately, the server spoke English and smiled a lot. - Bread tasted great which is an important factor for gluttons like us - Value was excellent - Seating is both inside and outside, but we made sure to go out given the warm weather. Cons: - The main one...really the only thing worth mentioning...was my wife's Ravioli with Pesto was drowning in sauce. She loves pesto, but it tested her endurance. - Outside tables and chairs were on uneven pavement which made our meal "fun" or challenging...depending on how you view things We'd go back to Da Eraldo, but ask them to tread lightly on the pesto. read more

Another couple ended up wanting to eat inside instead, so we switched. Not off to a great start. Complimentary bread was warm and tasted a bit like pizza dough. Ordered the pesto lasagna for my main. Dish was one-note and needed more salt. Bit on something extremely hard too. Looked like a tiny piece of bone, but unsure. My husband had their prawn ravioli, which was too fishy for me. Food was good. However, we waited in a very long line because we saw that it was one of the top rated restaurants in Monterosso. It was actually our least favorite meal out of the 6 days we were dining in Monterosso. This may say more about the other restaurants however as this food was still good. We ordered the Frutti de Mare - over half of the mussels never opened which usually means they are old. The pesto lasagna was good but lacked salt. The walnut ravioli was good but had no real flavor. The service was okay, really kind and I appreciate how sweet the ladies were but all the other tables got bread except for us. Good food, with a few hiccups. We had a reservation, arrived on time, and were told our table was paying their check and would be ready in a few minutes. 15 minutes later, we were summoned in and given a choice of three tables. It was confusing. I ordered the tortelloni with mozzarella and walnut sauce. It was indeed mozzarella and walnut sauce, but I was served ravioli, not tortelloni. I didn't know if the tortelloni was unavailable or what (the waiter didn't mention it), but I didn't want my partner to wait while a new dish was made for me, so I ate the ravioli I didn't know I wanted. (Also, I'm starting to learn that this is common in Italy, but a scallop shell of Parmesan cheese was on my plate with the food. I don't eat meat and wish they'd reserve the sea creature carcasses for people who order seafood. What's next, serving bread in the skull of whatever animal was killed for the ragù?)
