Been here many times and this is a hidden Italian gem in Newmarket! The food here is excellent and very authentic! I love the lasagna with the meatballs and also the veal. We're in Newmarket for a hockey tournament and wanted something above fast food. Was really a terrific surprise! Had a seafood pasta, lamb, and a specialty pasta. Service was old-school and dry, but if you are Italian you understand. Good job! read more

I'm surprised with all the 1-star reviews! But, you can't win over an experience when service is mediocre. Lucky for my party, our server was very attentive! We went on a Thursday, so maybe not the busiest day, but it was packed and there was a constant flow of diners for the hour and a half we were there, so they had at least 3 different servers to my knowledge which maybe sped things up a bit. We did have a tiny hiccup when we asked for our appetizer to come with our dinner, but it came out before. That with our variety of bread (yes it's cold like some previous poster mentioned.... which is pretty typical.. no?) we had a bit of munching before the main course. The calamari was cooked really well. Hot, but not soggy or too oily. The batter was light and not overwhelming! I was really happy with it. There were 3 of us and we shared the padella for 2. They were nice enough to bring out a separate bowl so we could divide things. You get two bowls of linguine with a marinara sauce and tiny shrimp. Then a giant bowl of seafood paella in a red soupy sauce. There was crab, shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams, and calamari. We finished it all, but the dish was plenty of food for 3 people!!! It was our first time at Orsini's last night, but it won't be our last. The food was excellent, as was the service. Everyone in our party had a different pasta and they were all wonderful. The portions were also huge and the prices were reasonable given the quality. In addition, the restaurant was also able to handle a peanut allergy, and have gluten free pasta to address celiac disease. I highly recommend Ristorante Orsini! read more

We took a stroll to Orsini as we were gifted gift certificate by a friend. We don't normally go to Italian restaurants really. We started off with a couple of martini's I'm pretty specific about them if you've read my other posts. Grey Goose, very dry (vermouth just needs to be washed over the ice and drained off) olives and not one of those rounded edge glasses. We both took a drink and immediately we both said what's in this? I went up to waiter and told them there was something sweet and he told us he made it with cheery flavored GG. Weird. Anyway queue the new martini's but all I ask is what possessed him to do that. For dinner I had the veal and my wife had a seafood pasta. Both were good, not memorable, but still good. The tiramisu seems to be a signature desert so we split it and it was really nice (I've never met a tiramisu I didn't like mind you). So I can't rate everything 4 and 5 stars so I'd say for the money it was good but in the old "would you go there again test" I'd say meh maybe but I'm not that into Italian restaurants unless they're over the top. Compared the the Italian restaurant I visited in Tokyo, no comparison (just a very very long drive and swim unfortunately) Other than the weird martini ordeal our server a was pleasant older Italian guy just like you'd expect to be served by. read more

Very rude . Didn't get any drinks even before taking our order or after! I was with 3 other people and we had a reservation and when they asked for a name, a specific employee (short old lady with short hair) immediately shook her head no without checking anything for any reservations and yelled no! They made us feel very unwelcomed! People came in after us and they catered to them so quickly with water and bread while we were still waiting so we all got up and left. read more

On vacation visiting family we visited twice in 10 days. Our experience was very good. They seem to have a goon number of regulars, always a good indicator. Service was efficient, food got and well presented with everyone happy with the quality & quantity. Friendly and responsive to younger diners who are a little fussy - rapid "no problem " to each request. Love the minimalist but effective decor. Spotless washrooms. Only had one other table for dinner on a week night the whole time. We got bread at the beginning after ordering but it was cold and not toasted. Ordered the calamari for appetizer and the gnocchi for the main. I thought both was mediocre and the main was way too salty. I couldn't finish the whole dish in one sitting. HORRIBLE SERVICE: We went in for a birthday dinner on recommendation of many friends & family. Unfortunately their service did not live up to the expectation. Our entire meal took 2 hours and 45 minutes. It took 30 minutes after our appetizers were completed before we were even asked for our main course orders. Not only this, but after our meal we needed to wait an additional 30 minutes to receive the bill. (Keep in mind there were only 3 other tables filled in the entire restaurant). MEDIOCRE FOOD: Only one dish of the six ordered was enjoyable. For an Italian restaurant known for pasta the pasta/risotto was incredibly dry. A family member ordered a steak cooked medium rare/rare and the steak came out extremely tough & over done. When we gave our feed back to the owner we were told "hey, it happens sometimes" and were given a bowl of unsalted peanuts after our meal to make up for the inconvenience... After eating here I would recommend to stay away, but hey... The peanuts were good. read more

Our first and last visit! Hospitality was atrocious empty tables all around and several tables for 4 were only occupied by 2. Two large booths were occupied by 2, however we were placed at a table for 2 stuck up against the back of a booth. We ordered the gnocchi and chicken parmigiana. The gnocchi was like lumpy wallpaper paste while the chicken was soggy and served with limp penne and tasteless sauce. The bread was great. The waiter called my wife Sir throughout the entire experience. I can assure you she is a rather pretty woman! All this for the disgusting price of over $50.00. We had a nice quiet dinner at Ristorante Orsini on a Tuesday night. There were only 6 other people at 2 other tables but we didn't mind. We had a really nice dinner. We started with bruschetta and Caesar salad. We had the Linguine al Gambero and veal parmigiana for our mains. We finished with coffee and tiramisu which I really, really enjoyed. Four of us went for Lunch and we spent most of our time waiting for the waitress to acknowledge us! (They definitely needed more than one server)! During this time we experienced a very bad odour coming through the vents which made our eating experience not very enjoyable! The food was adequate, unfortunately one of the plates was returned as we found a hair in the middle of the salad. We did not complain but only mentioned it to waitress .., Sadly, the waitress only apologized, returned it, nobody bothered to compensate us. No brainer! I'm Italian, and in my opinion, this is the best Italian restaurant in Newmarket. In fact it is one of the best in the GTA. Mike the owner and chef used to run La Spiga in Newmarket many years ago. And lucky for us he's back. Excellent food, attentive knowledgeable servers, and a modern, yet warm ambience. I've eaten at some of Toronto's highest rated Italian establishments, and for my money Orsini holds its own, and then some. read more

Service: BAD Food: ok Price: OVERpriced My 2 friends and I arrived at 8pm on Sunday evening (January 6, 2019) for dinner. The restaurant looked nice and we were very impressed by the design and atmosphere. The server informed us that the kitchen will close at 9pm and confirmed that the restaurant closes at 10pm. At 9pm, she started walking impatiently, shut down the TV (the only source of music), shut down some lights inside the restaurant, and we suddenly found ourselves in an awkwardly quiet and dim restaurant. I asked her what's going on, she said she is preparing for closing the restaurant. We were surprised and asked: "you said that it closes at 10pm! when do you want us to leave the place??" she said: "at 9:30pm, since there are no customers". we said: "but we are customers!!! we're sitting here!" she said that there are no NEW customers, therefore the restaurant will close 30 mins earlier. ????? Dear owner, you lost THREE CUSTOMERS and their friends. I called you before posting this review and was very disappointed by your response. read more

Decor is nice inside and the restaurant was busy so I was hopeful for a great dinner. Unfortunately, there was only 2 waiters and 1 bus person so service was very slow. We waited over an hour for our appetizer and it only came after we enquired about it. The fried calamari was over fried, a little on the burnt side. Our seafood pasta came 20 mins later and was over cooked - tough and chewy. The mussels didn't taste very fresh and I ended up paying for it throughout the night. read more

Had an incredible meal for four - wanted to find an authentic Italian restaurant in Newmarket to take my Italian parents to and Orisini's exceeded all expectations. The food was excellent and our server was great. The meal was as good as any food we ate in Rome. Not sure what other reviewers are talking about. Orsini is perfect for us. The service was great, Attention to detail in the decor the booth seats were deep with high backs which gave us privacy from the table beside. The most important part of this: the food: the seafood pasta which was delicious with crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops, squid with a delicious red sauce. The veal margherita with boccacini was so good that i didn't want to share it with my husband. The selection of red wine is great and the prices are reasonable. First visit to Orsini and I have to say it was a disappointment. Bruschetta was decent, but at $4 per two small half slices (per person) , definitely not worth it. I ordered the gnocchi with basil gorgonzola sauce. The gnocchi was very overcooked and gummy. The sauce was pasty and tasted like flour, like they did not fully cook the flour out in the roux. Combine floury sauce and gummy gnocchi, and you paste stuck to the top of your mouth. If that wasn't enough, service is also very slow. Totally not worth the money they charge here. read more
