I stumbled upon this restaurant thanks to Google. I was looking for a nice restaurant for my birthday with a good friend. We had a reservation for 8 pm and the restaurant was full. It did take them 40 minutes to take our orders. There was only 1 server and the owners working so it was understandable. I had great company and a delicious Aperol spritz to keep us company. The food was delicious. We got the arugula salad, grilled calamari, and seafood linguine. I got a tiramisu for my birthday dessert and it was delicious. We came here with a big party of 8, including two kids, and they handled it flawlessly. The staff were so patient and accommodating, which isn't always easy with a larger group. The menu has something for everyone - from picky eaters to more adventurous diners. The portions are generous, so we ended up sharing a few things. The kids' menu was actually decent quality, not just nuggets and fries (though they had those too!). There's plenty of space, the noise level is manageable, and they didn't rush us out even though we lingered for ages. A great choice if you're organising a get-together. read more

Wife and I went on a Saturday early evening. Bread and oil was very good, calamari also very good. Both had pasta which was OK, not great. Ravioli was too watery, flavour so so. Biggest issue was the service. Waited close to 10 minutes after being seated before anyone came. Every course was slow to be served and waiting for the bill took excessive time. Been there before and all was great, this time not so much due to terrible service. May or may not go back. read more

Went here tonight driving through new market looking for a place to eat. Wow, this place is delicious. Firstly, the host and owner are amazing. We had a quick chat with Dominic (hope it's spelled right), amazing people, super friendly, helpful and you can see they have an amazing way with their customers. We asked for recommendations and were told it was all good. Pastas are made in house , sauces are all made, no fillers or short cuts. It showed in the quality of the food and at very fair prices. Start off with our appetizers. Was gonna just get the grilled calamari, but our waitress also said the bruschetta was good so gave that a whirl. It was very good. Nice warm Crispy bread and fresh tomatoes beautifully seasoned. The grilled squid had a bit of char which was nice and cooked to perfection. It was served with arugula and tomatoes. Very tasty dish For the mains we shared a funghi pizza (with truffle oil) and a pasta. Pasta was so soft and fresh another thing that is made in house, with a beautiful sauce. Had to use the complimentary bread to make sure I soaked up the sauce. The pizza i felt was the star, wow the dough is so light and fluffy. I'm usually not a big fan of truffle oil but it was a delicious pizza. Had to try the home made tiramisu for dessert, it didn't disappoint and paired nicely with a coffee. This place is really great. It's a mom and pop type place and the owner said they are only open for dinner Tues to Sat. So don't go on the off days or you will be disappointed. Nice, clean, quiet setting. At first I was a bit nervous because we had an infant, but they had a high hair, and it being an Italian family restaurant OF COURSE they were accommodating and happy to have my daughter there. The food, don't even get me started...we had the PEI muscles in white wine app-amazing. The 3 pasta dishes we had-amazing, the pasta and ingredients were FRESH and you can taste it. The cappuccinos-perfect. Will be back, highly recommend even if you have a picky eater in your group!!! read more

This place is operated by the father of the owner of Il Postino of Markham. The quality of food exceeds. We had bruschetta as first course, the grilled calamari as appetizer, the seafood risotto and the duck breast as main course. The dinner is ended with a beautiful Bailey crème brûlée. My husband order something not Italian famous dish, chicken breast, turns out it is tender and juicy, so incredible ! We got there for our anniversary dinner and we booked the table at last minute but they are willing to take us in. The decor is comfortable and the tables are not too close together and the service are quite friendly and feels like I am treated as if I am one of their family member.. warm vibe :) Now , let's talk about The food... In general, it's above average and the quality is there. The only down side is we ordered Mussels but the Mussels turns out to be quite small unfortunately for us. The cooking of the dish is great but the "meat" inside the Mussels shell is very small or it would have been a great dish. We got the grilled calamari and veal Marsala. The calamari are perfectly cooked with no complaints and the veal Marsala are quite soft with yummy Marsala sauce that goes very well with the veal and also the marsh potatoes. It's not cheap but I would say it's a good choice for special occasions! As dessert, I recommend get the pistachio cheese cake. It's made with Mascarpone cheese with pistachio extract from Italy according to the restaurant. It's the same extract ppl would use to make Gelato. It's not the kind of flavor I get to try often personally... so give this baby a try if u have a chance! I will definitely come again!! read more

I have a terrible experience with this restaurant only on my reservation. I have submitted the reservation to them on Friday night on line and expected their confirmation. On Saturday at 2:40, I called to find out my reservation, the lady answered the phone was yelled to me said their restaurant was fully booked that night and she was driving. First time trying out dinner at Luna, we are amazed at the food and the hospitality here! Melanie is a great hostess and she welcomed us into her Italian kitchen ! We had the grill calamari, bruschetta, and pear arugula salad as appetizers, then the Raghu, duck breast in blueberry reduction, fungi pizza and grill lamb chops for dinner! Loving the crowd and ambience and not to mention the two charming hosts and their staff who were so accommodating and made us feel the need to come back"!! This was one of (if not THE) best restaurant experience I've ever had. I ordered the calamari and shrimp as my appetizer and wow. I've never had calamari this good... the texture was perfectly crispy and the flavour was spectacular. Dinner was the veal marsala-- once again, spectacular!! I was on the verge of licking my plate. Dessert ended the night wonderfully with the Belgian dark chocolate gelato. I also got a taste of my mom's Tiramisu. Heavenly!! Service was absolutely wonderful. Melanie made our night with her jokes and the love she pours into her food and how she engages with her customers. To say I enjoyed my dinner here is an understatement. Absolutely fantastic experience. The owner, her husband, and the waitstaff were all delightful and incredibly attentive. The food itself was BEYOND WORDS and well worth every penny. It came out very quickly and was so fresh, i could hear the mussels yelling "eat me." If you ever get the chance to experience this restaurant, i highly recommend the fritta calamari and penne a la vodka. I don't write reviews often but I the feelings evoked by visiting Luna had compelled me to do so. I first visited Luna back in 2019 and I must say after three years, I remember going there and the food being impeccable. With Covid, I haven't gone out and in while but I was always curious to know what happened to this restaurant and if it was under the same owners. When I walked in I was happy to see the wonderful woman who served me last time. It was the owner Melanie. She had the same lasting impression on me once again. Melanie and her husband treat you like family! It doesn't feel like a regular restaurant. They genuinely care how satisfied the customer is. The food quality is better then anywhere else I've ever been. They MAKE everything with love and they also DO everything with love. If you want to go somewhere for amazing food and a wonderful experience this is the place to be! They take pride in what they do and you can tell they're not in for the money but the impact they have on their guest. You can see if from just their interactions with their customers. My husband and I enjoyed dinner one Saturday evening. The reviews were good on Open Table so we decided to give it a try. We really enjoyed our dinner at Luna. The appetizer and salad was lovely. The bruschetta was perfect and the calamari was not overdone. Our pasta mains were also delicious. I ordered the seafood pasta. I recently chose Luna after searching for a nice restaurant in the Newmarket-Aurora area to take my wife for her birthday. I wanted to try somewhere with good ratings, but also a place that we hadn't tried before. I was not disappointed. It might seem a little unassuming on the outside (although the patio is very nice), but it is quite the opposite on the inside. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, just like Melanie, who together with her husband owns and runs the restaurant. Melanie greeted us and served us with with her charming manner, and great conversation. The menu is not huge, compared to some places, but that should mean that what they do offer should be fresh and full of flavour, which it absolutely was.. The pace was perfect, never feeling rushed, and always given time to enjoy each dish at our leisure. The pasta dishes we had were cooked to perfection, full and rich with flavour. The in-house dessert were shared? Magnifico! Kudos to Melanie, the chef's, and everyone at Luna. I highly recommend it for a nice fancy meal,, or even for a wine or coffee and dessert.
