Upon entering, you'll notice it's not the biggest restaurant but they use their space efficiently to maximize tables. Their drinks were a good pour, came nice and stiff. Cesar salad was salad and homemade dressing. Dressing was fresh with a hint of mustard. I enjoyed that slight variation. Didn't come with Parmesan cheese or croutons - not sure I'm in for or against that as of yet. Pastas were good. Had a spaghetti carbonara and a farfalle carbone which had smaller sized tiger shrimp. Casa, means home in Italian. I was hoping this restaurant would hold true to its name. However, I can't tell you how unwelcome I felt the moment my family (me and my two kids) stepped foot in this restaurant. On a Wednesday evening just past 8:00pm, we arrived at the doors of the restaurant and was greeted by I presume the owner of the business who mumbled something along the lines of them getting ready to close shop. And if we are dining in we should make it a quick one. This is despite the fact, that they were scheduled to close at 9:30, both according to their sign and Google. Anyways, we were seated by the owner and eventually served by the server. To be objective the server was courteous and generally competent, however, he did fail to top up our waters throughout the duration of the meal. Food wise it was above average. The Caesar salad was quite different from most restaurants where there's no croutons, no bacon and no shaved cheese. But I thought it was enjoyable and I like the fact that the salad had traces of anchovy taste. The Margherita pizza was alright. The tomato sauce was refreshing and the cheese tasted right. The flour had a a pretty good floury taste, but the body of the pizza could be a bit more well done. My favourite part of the meal was the Bucatini All'Amatriciana pasta. It's an interesting pasta texture that I've never experience before; clearly homemade. The guanciale gave the pasta a nice umami taste. However, the above average food was not enough to overcome the unwelcoming feeling that hung over us. One thing I forgot to mention is before the meal, I had a couple pieces of garbages from my kids that I wanted to dispose of. The washroom had no garbage bin and on the way out they had a box that resembled garbage bins in a fast food restaurant. I mistakened it for a garbage bin and after I disposed of the garbage, I was told by the same owner that it was not a garbage can. Although I wouldn't say he was totally rude, the statement was blunt and the facial expression and body language pretty much gave it away. One thing that was positive about the experience was at least their transparency toward their non-participation in the tax break government initiative. So. My husband and I had a date night and with a baby it has been a while. We decided we wanted some Italian and chose here. Let me tell you... I have been here before and it has always been amazing and tonight was even better. I ordered the farfalle and my husband had the squid ink linguine. Both incredible. Seriously made with love. The shrimp in the farfalle was perfectly seasoning and even my husband's octopus was tender. I hate octopus and loved it. Claudio our server was soo fantastic and reccomended the best things. And then.. We had dessert. Holy batman. Listen. Seriously listen. The pistachio tart with orange is one of the best desserts I've had and it's seasonal so it's only there for a limited time. Amazing experience. We went as a group and tried a couple of their pastas and fire wood oven pizzas. So good. I really liked their beer salad. It was so fresh and different. Staff was very sweet and accommodating to allergy needs and seating us despite close to closing time. It was a truly family run business and they care for you. read more

Since the restaurant was on the verge of changing their menu, a lot of the items were not available like osso bucco and some other. There were a lot of special items like over 10+ which was verbally dictated by our server. He must have good memory to have memorized all these items. All that was good but he wasn't wearing a mask and so did all the other servers in the restaurant. I personally prefer our servers to wear mask because they are in close contact with so many guests. Anyways this is my personal preference as I am aware that mask mandate has been lifted. So for him to talk so much, I am sure some saliva may have spread on our table which was a turn off for me. Aside from that, Squid ink seafood pasta was a bit on the salty side and the portion was small. I don't think it was worth the $38 price tag. The pizza was soft and thin though but I wasn't aware that the sauce was spicy. Stopped by this restaurant when we visited a friend in Aurora. Sorry but I probably won't be back. read more

This place serves gourmet Italian Italian (not Italian American food). Calamari Grigliatti was decent but a rather small serving. Grilled calamari is quite unusual - most places fry theirs. Got the linguini with gorgonzola sauce & walnuts. It was a bit small but good, with a generous portion of gorgonzola & walnuts. Pizza capricciosa was good with a nice char on the crust, though my dining companion thought there was a bit too much char. If you have a big appetite you may end your meal still hungry, since they don't serve bread. read more

Caramelle chocolate pasta (7 tiny pieces, very expensive) was the highlight of an otherwise average meal. Coal fired oven was overused on overwhelming radicchio salad and underused on flavourless pizza crust. Caesar salad was too sweet. Radicchio salad could benefit from being deconstructed so that the fennel and other ingredients are a bright clean taste contrast. 3.5 stars. New authentic Italian restaurant opened down the street from where I live! After reading up on reviews and drooling over the photos posted on Yelp, I have decided to pay a visit with my date one evening. The service was very welcoming and attentive. Our server was experienced and our meal went very smoothly. We started with a bottle of red wine with some assorted housemade bread. The breads were quite dense, so don't just fill up on bread because the best has yet to come: FRESHLY HOUSEMADE PASTA. I ordered the Venison Spaghetti, and my date ordered their daily special, Seafood Spaghetti in tomato wine sauce. The pasta itself was made to perfection - it was light, and cooked al dente (firm and chewy) just the way I like it. The Seafood pasta was definitely the highlight of my night - it tasted heavenly with the delicious sauce and lots of seafood - I literally ate half of my date's dinner lol. My Venison meat had a very gamey taste - certainly not something everyone can handle, but I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. We also shared the Coffee panna cotta and the Tiramisu. Both were delicious, and absolutely perfect for coffee lovers. The only thing was that the inside of the panna cotta felt a bit frozen; it had the crunchy ice crystals inside. Another thing that I was not exactly pleased was the dish presentation of a couple dishes. If you compare my photos to the ones our CM Kris U. took, you would be able to spot the difference for the Venison Spaghetti and the Octopus appetizer. Nonetheless, I would come back to try more items! I really enjoy Italian food, and I especially love pasta. As always, this is a diamond in the town. The experience is superb from the second we stepped in. We were warmly welcomed and when I found out one of my favorite dishes is no longer served as it's a summer dish, I got a recommendation on another appetizer. We had the smoke duck and bone marrow as the appetizer, plates licking good. The pasta, do I even need to say, is perfectly done. We finished off the dinner with a beautiful crème brûlée. An extra note was, I ordered a coffee martini, it was reasonably fine but the bar tender came up to the table and said he was not satisfied so he just offered to make a new one for me when I didn't request at all. Squid in the pizzq was partially undercooked, and there was too much sauce on the pizzas making i soggy fast. The pizzas are thin so I understand if they were thicker that might not have been the problem. Lamb ragu was okay felt the pasta was over cooked not al dente. This is a really good Italian restaurant. It's got a real trendy vibe to it with a varied and unique menu. The service is good and the food is delicious. For appetizers I had some fried calamari that were prepared exceptionally well, with some olives and a nice dipping sauce. There were many options on the menu but I decided to just have a simple bowl of cavatelli in a perfectly seasoned tomato sauce. The cavatelli were done al dente and hit the mark. Highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere was great - from the decor to the service to the open kitchen concept. Service was above and beyond, with our server recommending a great wine (bonus as he didn't recommend the most expensive!) and made sure we were well taken care of. Food was top notch, with homemade pasta. Only disappointment may have been the pizza as it didn't have that slight char and could have been left in a bit longer. This is our second time at the restaurant. The first time was a month ago and we sat at the chef table, facing the open kitchen. It was amazing to see how clean the kitchen was and how efficient the kitchen crew worked (including frequent hand washing that would make any health inspector proud)! Today, the minute we walked in, the servers and chef recognized us and said hi. Service was amazing and food was amazing. The entire restaurant atmosphere was warm and festive. Caesar salad- cold and crisp 10/10. $30 pizza - no crust -all toppings! the best was the lemon meringue pie that the waitress recommended-it looked like it was dropped on the floor and picked up and put into a plate. a blob or smear of lemon cream on the bottom with broken pieces of I think meringue? I was there for a private function. The beef and chicken were out of this world. The chicken was moist and the beef was tender. Delicious. The food came out and the plates were cleared with expert efficiency. It is mid-sized space, but intelligently laid out. A sophisticated, but unpretentious decor. The staff are friendly and funny! Only thing I'd recommend is that they get a website because it took me a while to figure out how to locate the menu. My wife and I have been discussing to come for the longest time but we never had a chance to. So on a random night I was like, let's go check this place out. As we strolled into the restaurant, I felt a sense of ease. The interior was very homey and made me feel like I was home. Soft wooden accents on painted red walls and chairs. Everything was tastefully put together and complimented each other. As a first time goer, I didn't know what to expect so we decided to just order a few dishes. Honestly I can say the food was awesome and it tasted just right. The pizza was perfectly cooked, though slightly blacked on the crust (I assume it was the oven as I could rub off the black parts). The octopus was also a blast - there was so much flavour to it my tongue was having a party. It was cooked to perfection in my opinion as it was perfectly tender and chewy at the same time. We also ordered a pasta that was... Bomb. I don't remember the name of it now, but it was really delicious and I can taste it as I'm writing this now zomg. Before I finish this off, I just wanted to tell you.. The owner said, "don't hesitate to use your hands." There I sat thinking wtf was just preached to me? I can use my hands eating here?! His response was, "whenever we have bread, we always use our hands.. It's an Italian tradition, so don't hesitate to use your hands." I acknowledged and smile and devoured.. Lol Before I really finish this off, I have to say that you may require a snack after you finish as portions weren't very large. I'm totally ok with this bc I was here for the experience.. Great waitress. As far as the food itself - the menu in restaurant does not match what was online which means no Octopus or Caprese Salad The food took forever. We had the Osso Bocco which was good and the calamari which had good flavour (but small serving). It was quite cold in the restaurant due to the wind tunnel at the front and open concept space. We had dinner there tonight. Portion sizes are small for prices they charge and the mediocre quality of food. The food is very salty. My husband had a ribeye steak. At $55, it should have been steakhouse quality, but instead it was over salted and nothing special. For my main, I had the squid ink linguine with lobster, but there were no lobster pieces to be found unless they were serving flaked canned lobster. I don't see what all the other rave reviews are about, this is not the best that italian cuisine can offer. read more

After a friend told me about this restaurant I decided to go check it out and I have to say it is not my favourite...I'm actually very disappointed! The owner was very polite and made sure to say his welcome to each table, very nice touch! The service was ok but not the best. What really disappointed me was the food. Not very impressed with the flavour and the 'linguine al nero di seppia' made me sick all night. Also, overpriced: when asking for a glass of wine ($10 and $13 my husband) you shouldn't get just a taste of the wine! $4 for a cappuccino that was dark water with foam on top?!? One of my favourites in the area. Grown up in Switzerland/Italy, I barely eat italian in North America. But Casa Carbone is my exception. Pasta is on point, pizza absolutely fantastic and the tiramisù is to die for. Good wines on the menu as well, great service. Can't get much better. read more

Casa Carbone is nestled in the heart of Aurora. The restaurant has a warm and inviting feel. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The menu has a good variety to choose from. We were in the mood for a plate of authentic pasta. My husband loves gnocchi. It's a given when we go Italian. This time was no different, he was drawn to the gnocchi here as they were made with cornmeal, which gave an added twist. Cornmeal in Italian cuisine is used to make Polenta. I ordered The tagliatelle in a lamb sauce, which I really enjoyed. The portion was smaller then I'm use to for a main course. When the gnocchi came my husband was so disappointed. They did not look like gnocchi but two pieces of polenta with a little tomato sauce. He asked for extra sauce, but when it arrived he found it to be acidic and not cooked long enough. He was not impressed. Again portion was small. We ordered muscles in a white wine sauce to start but they were bland. We didn't want to complain as the staff were so nice. Our waiter offered us a sample taste of a pink Proseccoo which was very nice. I would give the restaurant a second chance as there were other items on the menu I would like to try. read more

An amazing, authentic Italian restaurant. Never disappoints. Their dishes are always creative, delicious and appealing. Their charcoal pizza and steaks are the best and worth a try! This fairly new restaurant is in Aurora and is authentic Italian, none of the Americanized favourites may be found here. Their pizzas look divine and their fresh pasta is quite good! I opted for a simple dish of spaghetti with their homemade tomato sauce which I enjoyed. I also tried their ricotta and olive bread which was very good! They bring some fresh and hot homemade bread to the table with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A nice start for sure. I have to admit, my tastes are pretty simple so this restaurant may be a bit too gourmet for me but I enjoyed trying it. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. We capped off the evening with cappuccinos and I tried the tiramisu which is one of my favourites. The prices are reasonable given their homemade touches and gourmet selections. A note: when I booked my reservation for 8 people, I was not told that they add an 18% gratuity to the bill, nor was I told that they charge an extra 2% for separate bills. I spoke with the server and they agreed to cap it at 18% for us. I appreciate that it is not always possible to receive separate bills for a party of 8 or more, but it might have influenced (i.e. changed) my choice of venue for our group. It is certainly not my mandate to make it difficult for a restaurant in this way but it's not always easy to split the bill amongst ourselves where some people order alcohol and others order something more expensive. read more
