a person holding a cup of ice cream

Love this rite aid location bc of the ice cream It's 1.99 for a single scoop but you can't put a price on a quality scoop of happiness

Store front...

This Rite Aid is conveniently located in my neighborhood. I only go occasionally due to the homeless and sketchy people that hang out there. So the other day, I walked over to get a few items. The store was fairly quiet, only a few people at the register. So I waited in line, next to be helped. There were two cashiers, a lady and "Nick". Nick was the next available cashier. As always, I waited to be called up, but that never happened. No... next.. I can help you.. or even a wave. So, I walked up and put my 3 items on the counter. Nick rang me up with no greeting of any kind, barely any eye contact, and didn't ask me if I wanted a bag, or did I have a phone number for my discount? So Nick tells me the total, which seemed a little high knowing the price of each item I had purchased. After getting my change and receipt, I stopped to double-check but forgot my glasses. I asked Nick if he could tell me the price of the bread? Nick, in return, rudely replied it's on your receipt! Now, I'm annoyed by his rude and sarcastic service. I take a moment, then reply, I wouldn't be asking if I could see it. He said, "Oh! then reached for the receipt. I told him not to bother and asked for his name. He pointed at his name tag and said, "Nick with attitude I didn't appreciate. I asked for the Managers name, which happened to be standing near him, he said David. Yes! complaint time, but David was assisting a customer, and I had already wasted my time on someone who clearly doesn't need to be working with the public. Rite Aid, if these are the type of people you're employing, please notify me so that I never go back...

This is our neighborhood Rite-Aid, and we can always pass by here when walking back from downtown…read moreLong Beach. We discovered last year (yeah...took us a while) that they have an ice cream parlour inside of it, serving hand-scooped Thrifty-brand ice cream for a really, really value price. Well...due to a plumbing issue, it's been closed for months now...but we stopped by yesterday, and it's baaack. The counter is located right in front, left of the registers. Since there is usually nobody there and it's no different at Rite-Aid to find someone to help you, the right move is to stand-in line at the register and pay first. They will then call somebody over to help. It's $1.99 for one scoop in a cake or sugar cone, and they have a great selection of interesting flavors. I get the mocha almond fudge or rocky road, while other interesting flavors are coconut pinapple, medieval madness. It's scooped using a unique cylinder ice cream scoop, and they are very generous with the portion (one scoop is plenty...some staff will choose to give 2 smaller scoops to make the one 'scoop'). The ice cream is probably a bit below average in terms of taste and creaminess for a gourmet ice cream (reminded me of the ice cream you can serve yourself in a chinese buffet), but it's $1.99, folks. One can't beat the experience of walking back to your home on a hot, sunny SoCal afternoon, trying to lick the ice cream in the right places at the right times so it doesn't melt all over your hands. Ice cream trucks/carts don't seem to serve hand-dipped ice cream anymore, so this experience really reminds me of an earlier time. Now only if I could find a walkable Rite-Aid near one of our favorite beaches...
