You need to ask an employee first before purchasing toothpaste at this CVS location
    Derek W.

Soooooo slow! I had some extra time to kill before catching a movie at a nearby theater, but if I didn't have that extra time, I would not have stopped by this CVS, located on the southeast corner of 6th and Long Beach Blvd. It's in the same plaza as El Super, but it's on the opposite end of the ginormous parking lot, a rarity in any downtown. However, the lot is specifically for customers patronizing at least one business in that plaza; otherwise, City Lot A is one block west of CVS and allows for up to two hours of free parking. I wanted to get some toothpaste since they had a deal for $4 extra bucks if you purchase two. However, the toothpaste was locked behind glass doors! I understand the need for such a deterrent to retail theft, but this is legitimately the only CVS store I've seen that keeps toothpaste locked up like that! If you do need assistance with retrieving a product in one of these locked cases, there's a button you can press to call customer service. I don't know if they heard me the first time because I had to press that button a second time to get an employee to unlock the cabinet for me. I guess they were too busy assisting the customers who were at the checkout line that they completely forgot about this customer right in front of them waiting at the dental care aisle! One of the employees did come over to unlock the cabinet for me, allowing me to peruse the toothpastes on sale. I chose the two I wanted and stepped in line to check out with a cashier, Adriana. At first, I was asked if I wanted a bag, but I initially declined, thinking it would have cost an extra 10 cents, but when Adriana mentioned I wouldn't have gotten charged for it, I reversed course and answered affirmatively to the bag. The actual checkout process otherwise didn't take too long with Adriana confirming if I'd like to use all of my extra bucks savings on this purchase. After paying, the receipt started to print out, but stopped right when the printer was printing my $4 extra bucks! It took a minute or two for Adriana to finish printing my receipt. By the time I was done with my transaction, more and more customers had stepped in the checkout line that at the rate the cashiers were going, I probably would have spent an additional 10 minutes in line if I had to hit the customer service button a third time. There were at least a couple other cashiers tending to the line as well, but one of them was speaking on the phone. I'm glad this CVS had more than enough of the toothpaste I was looking for, but that's probably because other customers were deterred from purchasing them, either by the locked cabinet or the extended wait. Even if this were the closest CVS to me, I would probably patronize a different location if this location is habitually slow at servicing the customer. They also have a drive thru pharmacy, but with how slow they were at servicing the customer inside the store, it's hard to fathom how slow they would be at servicing the customer remaining in their vehicle for their pharmaceutical needs.

    Lines at the pharmacy.

We the people in this neighborhood are trash. This CVS takes the brunt of all the sketchy and crazy visitors our neighborhood has to offer. The people who work here, especially in the pharmacy are saints. All the crazy drug addicts crazy people in need of their pills have their meltdowns here all the time. These people have nerves of steel. The store is not as clean as it could be and based on everything locked up I'm sure theft and shoplifting is big here. Bravo to employees and big finger to all of our neighborhood A-holes who ruin our stores.

    They have a clinic inside!

Anyone know what their new store hours are since they were sadly looted? I was there this morning on a Sunday and they didnt open until 10am

They are trying to get back to normal and removing some of the boards. Not sure about the hour changes but they've been open any time I've been by there. I'll post any new hours I find next time I'm out that way.

I stopped at this location as it is closer to my house but I will go back to the Los Altos or Seal Beach CVS. This incident will be reported to the manager. The prescription items I need, such as stimulants and azaleaic acid, are often out of stock. I know that can happen at any pharmacy, so I don't hold that against them. My biggest issue is the service. The pharmacists and pharmacy staff often present as though they dislike their job and the customers. Today I was told by a staff member that an item I needed was not available to order and I had to call other Walgreens to see if it was available. She also stated that she could not transfer my prescription to the other Walgreens pharmacy locations. Imagine my surprise when I finally located my medicine and the staff member at that other location was easily able to retrieve my prescription from this location. I don't know if that staff member was misinformed or simply lazy. Either way, it left a bad taste in my mouth. This is a very frustrating pharmacy location.

Never have any medication in stock, they never utilize the automated alert system if your script is ready, you have to call and wait on hold for an hour until someone picks up and confirms. You also have to repeat yourself and why you're calling at least 3 times, and sometimes you get disconnected and then have to call back and reexplain everything. I used to love this pharmacy but it has gone extremely down hill and the personnel working at the pharmacy are also extremely rude with absolutely zero customer service. They will promise you a script will be ready, and then when you call back a few hours later, they will say they don't have the medication and it won't be ready for another few days. Unfortunately, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Wouldn't be surprised if this place goes out of business soon.

Dear CVS Senior Management,…read more I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience I had at CVS Pharmacy. The service I received was extremely poor, and some staff members behaved in an unprofessional manner I spoke with an employee named Imelda regarding my medication, but she walked away without explanation while I was in the middle of speaking to her. I was left waiting without any update, and she never followed up or checked on my prescription. I then asked for assistance from the manager, Jessie, but she did not take the time to properly review my situation. Even though I explained that my doctor had already sent the fax, she told me I could not receive my medication. Her tone felt impatient, and she raised her voice, which made me feel uncomfortable as a patient. Because of this, I had to contact my doctor again while waiting at the store. After they resent the information, the medication was eventually found in the system--but no one had taken the time to check thoroughly before. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes unnecessarily. I used to visit this CVS location often, and the staff was always helpful and professional. It was one of my favorite stores. However, after this experience, I feel nervous and uncomfortable returning, which is disappointing. I hope management addresses these issues, especially since this is a 24-hour location that many patients rely on. I would also like to recognize Liz, one of the pharmacists, who was very kind, patient, and helpful. She clearly explained everything and made sure I received my medication. I truly appreciate her excellent service.

Like legitimately the absolute worst CVS. Like all other CVS pharmacies, they suck, but this one is probably the worst pharmacy amongst all the them. And the one inside Target is pretty bad too. But not worse than this one!! I chose this pharmacy because they're 24 hrs and have a drive thru as well as being close to where I live. Had I known what a sh*tsh*w it was here I'd would have never switched pharmacies. They are SUPER JUDGMENTAL if you have pain meds. They automatically treat you like some junkie degenerate. Even though I've had multiple failed spinal surgeries (the last one being a spinal fusion) , a seriously painful autoimmune condition that affects all my joints and severe chronic pain to where some days I can't even get out of bed, walk or dress myself without help. And I've already exhausted all my surgical and non surgical options. Like what am I supposed to do? Do they need me to bring my medical history in order to justify why I need these medications. What do they need? Call with my surgeon? All my X-rays, MRIs, a copy of my medical and surgical history??? All of this hassle for freaking Tylenol with codeine!!! They used to give you that for tooth pain and I'm here trying to get by on taking it for pain that would send most people to the ER. You would think I'm asking for fentanyl with the way they treat me. I don't know what I can do to make these people stop treating me like lesser than a human being because I need these medications. I wish I didn't need them. Who wants to go through this hassle every month. Oh my Lord, don't even try to travel and need your medications early. I had to travel 1 time and got my script 4 days early and months later I'm still paying the price for it. They also arbitrarily choose when your prescription will be due. Their policy is every 28 days, you can pick up your prescription. However, they will choose your pick up date based on whatever they feel like that day. Or if the pharmacist doesn't want to fill it they'll just change the pickup date so it's the next pharmacist's responsibility. They'll either make you pick it up anywhere from day 28, 29, 30 or even day 31. They used to let me pick it up every 28 days but now all of a sudden they're making me pick it up day 31 for the month of July. They won't give me an explanation as to why the pick date constantly changes. When I do ask, they automatically make me feel like they've labelled me as a "drug seeker". Every pharmacist will give me a different answer to when I can pick it up. One pharmacist said I can pick it up day 28 and changed it to automatically fill on day 28. Then another pharmacist who I'm assuming was supposed to fill it that day, changed it again to day 30. It's like they're all passing the buck to the next pharmacist because they don't want to fill pain meds. Meanwhile patients are getting screwed. Do you think they care? Nope. In the month of May, I picked my script up day 28, then in June they made me pick it up day 30 and now in July, they're saying I can pick it up the earliest day 31. I don't care when I can pick it up if it's between day 28-30. Just choose a freaking time frame so I know when to expect to fill it. Except for Day 31. I don't want to be completely out of my medication before I can even get my new prescription. It's freaking ridiculous and so frustrating. If you ask why they constantly change pick up dates they don't give you a clear answer. They mumble some bs "well you picked up day 28, 2 months ago so it's cumulative days so now you've got to pick it up day 30" What??!!!? How does that even make sense. Then just don't give it to me day 28 one month and day 30 arbitrarily 2 months later. Just pick a goddamn date and stick to it. Then of course by even asking you've given them more reason to label you a "drug seeker". I AM seeking my medications! I freaking need them to survive day to day in order to manage my pain. Even though it doesn't control my pain entirely, I have no choice but to take these prescriptions. I'm severely limited on I can take due to GI issues. So this is the only thing I can take and they're making it so difficult every freaking month. Literally every freaking month I have anxiety going to the pharmacy wondering what kind of BS they're going to pull in order not to fill my Rx. This is flat out discrimination and should be illegal. Also their medications are trash quality. CVS will literally purchase the cheapest, least effective medications, and pass it off to the customer. All while making you feel like you should be so thankful you're even getting your medication this month.

I kept getting texts saying my medication was ready, but everytime I called to double check, it was not. When I showed up she got me my medication within less than 30 minutes and was on top of it. (And she kept telling me to sit down and asking if I was ok) I'm extremely understanding that these places are overwhelmed. I've dealt with a really rude male pharmacist here, but Tracy has literally been a lifesaver Recently, I had called ahead of time to see what I needed for an early release (2 days early for a medication that is highly controlled due to me not being able to pick it up on the scheduled day) she told me exactly what to request from my doctor. (Which, I got ahold of my doctors office and told them) My doctor put in for my medication, but unfortunately, they did not put what Tracy needed them to put. It was night time and my doctors office was already closed. Tracy told me not to worry at all and that she would call them in the morning and get it taken care of for me. I honestly did not think much of it. I was fully prepared to call my doctors office / having to deal with it all on my own. Yet, I got a text saying my medication was ready in the morning. Tracy even called me personally (not just the automated generic voice message system they leave saying to come get your medication) Tracy called and told me that she had been calling my doctors office as soon as they opened and she had everything taken care of for me. It honestly made me cry. While dealing with so much such as a surgery and trying to get everything taken care of, it meant so much to me that she took care of everything for me and did not make a fuss about it. She literally went above and beyond and I'm extremely thankful that she not only does her job, but is extremely sympathetic and helpful. Tracy is a pro Every time Tracy is working, she goes over the medication with me and asks if I have any questions and etc If you have any issues I highly suggest asking for her (but only if you're nice to her, because she's amazing) This location has a drive thru and is also open 24/7

However, this "welcome" felt less like customer service and more like customer profiling. The guard appeared focused on monitoring, documenting, and tracking the time, date, and movement of customers entering and leaving the store. I found this approach excessive and uncomfortable. After entering, I went to browse for the items I needed. During that time, I noticed that multiple refrigerator units appeared to have significant wear and maintenance issues. Several shelves were sparsely stocked or completely empty, leaving very few product options available. The beverage section, as well as many other items throughout the store, seemed overpriced for the area. As I continued through the store, I found the overall shopping experience increasingly uncomfortable. The selection of non-fresh, expired snack options was limited, and the narrow layout made it difficult to move through the aisles. Combined with the growing number of customers in and around the pharmacy area, the store felt crowded and congested. I did encounter one employee in passing who appeared polite and professional. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with all staff. While attempting to exit an aisle, another employee entered with a cart. Rather than moving aside to allow a customer to pass, the employee continued forward, forcing both of us into an unnecessarily tight space. It was inconsiderate and avoidable. I ultimately purchased three drinks, which cost approximately $10. When I proceeded to checkout, I was met with an employee's open bottle of water sitting in the checkout area, requiring customers to navigate around it. The cashier who assisted me was neither welcoming nor particularly professional. At the conclusion of the transaction, she asked whether I wanted a bag. When I replied, "Yes, that would be great, thank you," she responded by emphasizing that it was "just a paper bag." The comment felt unnecessary and strange, as I had already answered the question and had not expressed any concern about the type of bag being provided. After leaving the store, the security guard said goodbye or something similar. Upon reaching the parking lot, I noticed a fire truck parked in a manner that was blocking portions of the entrance and exit. There were no visible signs of an emergency, and the firefighters remained seated inside the vehicle. Overall, the store felt dated, dingy in appearance, and overdue for modernization. Between the excessive security presence, limited product selection, crowded layout, inconsistent customer service, and aging aesthetics, the experience was less than satisfactory. I would like to see meaningful improvements made to both the store environment and the customer experience.

This review is for the pharmacy. Particularly Chloe, the pharmacist there. Not for Tracy. Tracy is…read morea Gem. Chloe on the other hand is the probably one of the worst pharmacists I've ever encountered. I've gone to this pharmacy for years. My whole family has. I've usually had no issues. Tracy, another pharmacist there is the best. She truly is super helpful and non-judgmental. Chloe on the other hand is awful and has the worst attitude. I take pain medications because I have a serious autoimmune condition plus I've had spinal fusion surgeries. As well as other spinal surgeries. I'm in excruciating pain 24/7 and I need these medications to function somewhat normally. I'm not taking fentanyl or oxycodone or anything remotely close to that. But the way Chloe treats me and makes me feel, you would think I was asking her for black tar heroin. There's already a lot of stigma and judgement from pharmacists when you have to have these prescriptions, but I've never been treated so badly to the extent as I have with Chloe. I travel back and forth to northern CA quite a bit and have a hard time enough getting my travel to align to when I'm due to pick up my prescriptions. I try not to get them earlier but sometimes that's just unavoidable. I forgot a 5 days worth of medications at my moms in northern CA while I was traveling. Chloe acted like I was this drug seeking degenerate and I left my medications behind on purpose (or I was lying) so I could get more. This was all over a measly 20 pills!! She was super rude and condescending and wouldn't let me pick up next months Rx when it was due because i "should have 5 days worth still" when I told her I left it at my moms house 8 hrs away she totally didn't believe me. You could literally feel her eyes rolling back to the back of her head. I never been so humiliated or made to feel like a drug seeker who has to grovel for my Rx in all my life. Chloe told me to wait a week, but Tracy finally filled my Rx 2 days later. But still I was without any medications for 2 days which was miserable. I've been taking the same medications at the same dose for over 10 years. I do not get a "high" off them. I'm not selling them nor hoarding them. The medications I take are what they used to give patients for a toothache but now they treat these same medications like they're fentanyl. They literally just bring the volume down of my pain so it's not so debilitating. So I can walk, and move without feeling like my legs will give out. I have intense pain in every joint in my body. Not to mention hellish back pain where I've exhausted all surgical options. I wish I didn't have to take these prescriptions at all because honestly the hassle/judgement/humiliation is barely worth it. But I have to. I can't take ibuprofen because of GI issues so I am very limited in what I can take. I've stopped going to this pharmacy and moved all my family's prescriptions as well. I will NEVER go to this pharmacy again. Neither will my family or friends. Not unless Chloe is gone permanently. I suffer enough as it is. Some mornings I can't even get out of bed by myself or even dress myself. It's a life I don't wish on anyone. I shouldn't have to endure judgment and be treated like a drug seeking junkie on top of what I already go through. I don't wish Chloe or any other judgmental pharmacist on anyone. Especially if you're in pain and need your Rx filled. Heaven forbid you lose a few and get treated like you've committed some heinous crime. And Chloe, if you're reading this... do better. Learn empathy. You might find yourself in the same situation. I pray that you do.
