Soooooo slow! I had some extra time to kill before catching a movie at a nearby theater, but if I didn't have that extra time, I would not have stopped by this CVS, located on the southeast corner of 6th and Long Beach Blvd. It's in the same plaza as El Super, but it's on the opposite end of the ginormous parking lot, a rarity in any downtown. However, the lot is specifically for customers patronizing at least one business in that plaza; otherwise, City Lot A is one block west of CVS and allows for up to two hours of free parking. I wanted to get some toothpaste since they had a deal for $4 extra bucks if you purchase two. However, the toothpaste was locked behind glass doors! I understand the need for such a deterrent to retail theft, but this is legitimately the only CVS store I've seen that keeps toothpaste locked up like that! If you do need assistance with retrieving a product in one of these locked cases, there's a button you can press to call customer service. I don't know if they heard me the first time because I had to press that button a second time to get an employee to unlock the cabinet for me. I guess they were too busy assisting the customers who were at the checkout line that they completely forgot about this customer right in front of them waiting at the dental care aisle! One of the employees did come over to unlock the cabinet for me, allowing me to peruse the toothpastes on sale. I chose the two I wanted and stepped in line to check out with a cashier, Adriana. At first, I was asked if I wanted a bag, but I initially declined, thinking it would have cost an extra 10 cents, but when Adriana mentioned I wouldn't have gotten charged for it, I reversed course and answered affirmatively to the bag. The actual checkout process otherwise didn't take too long with Adriana confirming if I'd like to use all of my extra bucks savings on this purchase. After paying, the receipt started to print out, but stopped right when the printer was printing my $4 extra bucks! It took a minute or two for Adriana to finish printing my receipt. By the time I was done with my transaction, more and more customers had stepped in the checkout line that at the rate the cashiers were going, I probably would have spent an additional 10 minutes in line if I had to hit the customer service button a third time. There were at least a couple other cashiers tending to the line as well, but one of them was speaking on the phone. I'm glad this CVS had more than enough of the toothpaste I was looking for, but that's probably because other customers were deterred from purchasing them, either by the locked cabinet or the extended wait. Even if this were the closest CVS to me, I would probably patronize a different location if this location is habitually slow at servicing the customer. They also have a drive thru pharmacy, but with how slow they were at servicing the customer inside the store, it's hard to fathom how slow they would be at servicing the customer remaining in their vehicle for their pharmaceutical needs. read more

We the people in this neighborhood are trash. This CVS takes the brunt of all the sketchy and crazy visitors our neighborhood has to offer. The people who work here, especially in the pharmacy are saints. All the crazy drug addicts crazy people in need of their pills have their meltdowns here all the time. These people have nerves of steel. The store is not as clean as it could be and based on everything locked up I'm sure theft and shoplifting is big here. Bravo to employees and big finger to all of our neighborhood A-holes who ruin our stores. read more

I went to this CVS for the first time yesterday. My experience was excellent. I brought them a prescription to be transferred and filled. Two hours later I was texted that my prescription was ready. Now that's good service! I will be transferring all my prescriptions to this CVS. One other great benefit of this CVS is they have so many convenient things inside the store. I'll be going there today to get some Valentines cards. Their location is very convenient also, It is on the corner of Sunrise and University, which makes it very easy to access. The employees who helped me were very kind and patient. Their prices are reasonable and their hours are good. They open at 7 o'clock in the morning. I'm so glad I tried this store. This CVS pharmacy sucks to put it bluntly :( I've already had 2 bad experiences here since making my move to Long Beach. Here they are: 1. My doctor called in 3 prescriptions for me. I called to make sure they were going to be ready when I came. They had not been prepared yet, so I told them to get them ready and make sure my information was transferred properly from the CVS in Mar Vista. When I came the next day they said they only had 2 of my 3 prescriptions ready and that my other prescription was ready in Mar Vista. I obviously wasn't about to make a 2+ hour round trip, so I had to come back the next day to get my third prescription. 2. I severely sprained my ankle and had gone to Urgent Care. The doctor at urgent care said he was going to call in my anti inflammatory medication soon as I left. I hobbled into CVS the next morning and they said they never received my prescription, so I called the urgent care and they said the order had been placed the night before, but they would call it in again immediately. I asked the guy working how long it would take once they received the order and he said about 15-20 minutes so I decided to go across the street to the McDonald's to get some grub while I waited. Then I drove back to CVS and hobbled back inside only for them to say "oh sorry your order won't be ready until after lunch which will be like another 45 minutes." Mind you I'm in extreme pain and very over it at this point so I just drove home and took a bunch of ibuprofen. I had to have my boyfriend drive me back later when he got done with work, when he already had a busy night planned so this was a major inconvenience for both myself and my boyfriend. This CVS really needs to get it together or I will be looking into transferring my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

Aside from the store being filthy and short staffed on the floor. The wait time for a previously called in prescription is ridiculously long! The pharmacy clerk claimed the prescription wasn't ready twice while I waited over 40 minutes (in her presence). The medicine was prepared and stored on the shelf. Not once did the clerk inform the pharmacist that I was waiting for it nor did she check the alpha cubby for it. Instead I had to call another clerks attention and she found it. Everything is locked down. Lines everywhere. Pharmacy only has one person working long lines. Takes forever to get your prescriptions even if I ise the app. I always preorder and pay and always wait in the line for pick up. The best way is to order via mail to be delivered to you. Dealing with slow and dont care employees is terrible. But this is only CVS in California, not in other States. Wow! I have never had anyone as kind and patient as these girls tonight. I needed my medication before I went to the ER. I have severe asthma and the meds helped within minutes. They were about to close and able to pull my prescription from my regular pharmacy (who was out of my meds) and get them within minutes. I can't even say how greatful I am for these ladies I'd be in the hospital without them and really appreciate them!! read more

Torn on this review given the circumstances this CVS has to deal with, as they are located in the heart of downtown - right off the metro line stop. If you know downtown well, you know it means that there are lots of unpleasant sights you'll face, and unfortunately the premises of this CVS seems to be the epicenter. With that said, I think they do their best to keep the actual store running as safely and efficiently as possible. The pharmacy line is never too long, however it's hit or miss sometimes on how long it takes to get prescriptions filled. If you have to go to this CVS location, you'll be fine, however if you can go to another one, or perhaps Vons instead, then you're probably better off doing so. read more

Nice staff:) It's the local CVS for downtown folks. Due to the area they have locked some products up due to the homeless issues. The staff are friendly though and have good customer service when they get your item for you:) Waiting the little time for a staff member to open the cabinet is nothing compared to having to drive find parking or take public transportation to the other CVS nearby. This one is a convenient location for folks whom live in the downtown area to shop at. Also for tourists whom need some lotion, sunscreen for the summers or regular groceries for traveling:) Keep in mind they stopped selling ice cream a staff member told me it was an item homeless people stole a lot so they discontinued it. Which makes sense. Candy, chips, and some frozen meals they still sell here. read more

This pharmacy is the rock bottom of CVS pharmacies. I've come in and there has been vomit and poop where vaccines are supposed to take place. I also just went in for my prescription and was in line and served before the lunch break. The only pharmacist on staff clocked out for lunch before the very short line was served. So they had my two prescriptions sitting directly in front of me and they couldn't give them to me. Be better at your job, pharmacists. You influence what others can do within their job classifications. Serve those in line and then clock out. read more

I went back to my old mom and pop pharmacy 13 miles away rather than deal with the CVS nightmare. It's all computerized. They don't accept if the computer makes an error. They let me run out of a very important medication and when I complained, they just shrugged their shoulders. No customer service, no human interaction or intelligence. Located in DTLB, this is our local pharmacy (though we go to the one on Willow if we need vaccinations or minor health check at their MinuteClinic, since this CVS doesn't have a Clinic). It's a medium/large CVS, with a complete OTC drug/personal product sections, and an OK food/beverage area. They don't have a self-check out area anymore, so it does take a bit of time to checkout (so patience required) since there is a max of 3 registers and not all of them are used..but at least it is busy enough so there is always someone manning the registers (which I've found to be a problem at other drug stores that are less busy). Finally, if one chooses to use CVS as their main drugstore, strongly recommend that one signs up for their rewards program. They constantly have various sales sent to your email address, and regularly give out 40% off of one non-sale item....this can be a great cost saver if used for products that don't go on sale normally. read more

pharmacists refused to call my health insurance to see why i was coming up as not covered even though when i called my insurance the agents said i was covered; when pressured, he asked me to make a three way call with an agent for him instead of calling the number i had provided the night before to the other shift pharmacists; when i refused again he finally agreed to call. five minutes later, he calls back because, of course, i am covered. when my friend went to pick up my prescription for me, both pharmacists made passive aggressive comments to him. entirely unprofessional and stressed me out so much my covid symptoms got worse. i will never be using this pharmacy again. staff more pharmacists and train them to do their damn jobs. read more

I have been calling back every single day and each time, I was told they will call the source pharmacy. 3. 4th day I spoke with the supervisor. Thur January 9 2020 at 11am. He said he doesn't have any record of any of my calls. Then I was told if it's a controlled substance it can't be transferred. 4. I asked said supervisor what's the procedure. Horrible experience. I had the longest most painful day at the emergency room and needed to pick up my medicated eye drops for a eye injury. They literally handed it to me with zero instructions or things to look for. The drops are very painful (obviously expected but at least warn me) also the placement is important and when I asked for information the pharmacist acted like I was annoying her and actually said "they are eye drops, you put them in your eye" very rude and disrespectful. He's new" made the uncomfortable and inconvenient lack of baskets an afterthought as his sweet demeanor and seemingly sincere desire to be helpful, professional and clearly proud to be working for the brand made me almost forget the painful experience of shuffling items and consistently bending to pick up fallen merchandise as I tried to cram it all in a torturous red basket made to limit the amount of hard earned money spent... hmm that doesn't seem right. This review is more specifically for the cashier Adrian, but anyway, he greeted every person who walked through the door while he was ringing customers up. He engaged with customers waiting in line letting us know he would be with us shortly. He provided pleasant small talk while ringing up our selections, but still maintained a sense of urgency. It was really a great experience as it is rare nowadays to have such a friendly associate-definitely above and beyond. Way to go! Keep it up! CVS treat him well. my doctor sent in a prescription for a controlled substance (adderall) on a Tuesday and I confirmed with the staff that they received it, were out of stock, but would reorder. checked online the next day and it said it had been filled, but when I called they said it was still out of stock. called back on a Friday and my prescription is magically "disappeared" and they want me to call my doctor to write a new one??!! absolutely not. shady stuff going on here. someone needs to investigate. read more

Was trying to purchase (a pretty expensive) cleanser and as I'm searching for it a young female approaches me and says very rudely "you can't be in this section that's why there's a cart blocking it" Uhh ok there's a cart in the middle of the aisle, no sign, no cones, no nothing indicating I can't be in that part of the aisle. This is the sketchy CVS next to the Blue line train station, in the same shopping center as the Starbucks I reviewed yesterday. Always people outside asking for money. I've become numb to their peddling and just give them a wave and a smile and 'I already gave you money yesterday.'... My face was feeling gross from the humidity so I searched the aisles for some skin toner but all I came up with was these wipes that has a coconut scent. Not sure if it's a CVS beauty brand or something else but it was cheaper than the other organic wipes. Everything is 'organic' these days, eh? I'm not picky but word placement on packaging sometimes makes me not want to pay extra. Just gimme some thing plain and easy! Didn't break my wallet and will definitely buy these again.
