Went here to pick up a prescription for hydrocortisone. It wasn't ready 5 hours after the script was called in. Apparently they needed clarification from my medical provider. OK, fine. I go back the next evening - 27 hours after they received the script. They were JUST working on it. How long does it take to slap a sticker on a jar? To make matter worse, they were trying to give me used medication! The seal on the jar was broken, foil creased showing it had been opened, and the remnants of the previous patient sticker was on it. So they said they'd get another one from another store, come back tomorrow. When I get the the next evening, IT'S THE SAME JAR! (After I pointed this out, they went to get the other one to prove me wrong - except they couldn't find it, since you know, I was right.) I question the legality of selling USED MEDICATION. No two Rite Aids are the same. I happen to live stumbling distance to this one so I frequent this one quite a bit. The quality of service really depends on what you're coming in for. This is my break down: 5 Stars for the Pharmacy. The pharmacists, and pharmacy techs are on-it. I was here about a month ago following an Urgent Care Visit thinking I'd suck it up and pick up my prescriptions the next day after 3 terrible experiences at three drug stores nearby. CVS off Pine told me I'd have to wait at least an hour for them to fill my 2 prescriptions. There was not a single soul waiting for a prescription, nobody in line, and at least 5 people behind the pharmacy counter, mid-day on a Thursday or Friday. I asked if they had what I needed, and the pharmacy tech said yes but they were busy counting vitamins so it would be at least an hour. I shit you not, that's what I was told, so I took my prescription for muscle relaxants and Vicodin across the street (to RideAid) where were was a huge line and it was really going to take an hour to fill my prescription. I felt like death was creeping up on me so I went to the Walgreens down the street which didn't have one of my prescriptions available. I had given up at this point, drove home and stopped at this location (down the street from my house). This place is always packed and I thought the pharmacy would be too. Imagine my surprise when the pharmacist here offered her sympathies and told me she'd have my prescription ready within 10 minutes. I only saw two people behind the counter here and these two people were so much more helpful and caring. As for the rest of the store, they're always out the essentials, the employees are a melting pot of people who hate their lives, can't help you, and genuinely nice people. I don't mind any of them. The photo department is awful. I came to pick up some photos a couple of weeks ago (which I was told were ready via email) only to find that their machines had been broken for over a week! If you print photos from home to the store, you understand what a hassle it is to choose, upload, and edit 150 photos all over again. At the end of the day, it's convenient, there's ice cream, parking, and never a dull moment. read more

I wanted to do a review the Pharmacy at the Rite Aid on Cherry Ave. in Long Beach. I've been using this pharmacy for a long while now. All the employees are always very nice and helpful even though at times they are slammed busy. I recently was helped by a young man named "Carlos". He was working by himself and was very quick and efficient. Also very nice. He also asked me if I interested in a flu shot. I really was not but I thought he couldn't hurt to see if I was able to get one on my insurance. He ran the check and I can get one at no fee. He gave me a form to fill out and come back. (I didn't want to get one then and there) lol. I will return to get my flu shot. Shout out to Carlos. Very nice and helpful young man. read more

The staff here do a great job. They deserve more credit than people give them considering all the weird a@@ people that wander in here. I've lived a block away for a few years now and this place has saved me in many circumstances but caused some remorse in some not so healthy decisions if you know what I mean. Nonetheless it's a huge support for myself and many people. Like I said, the staff deserve a lot of credit for having to deal with some of the ignorant and straight up crazy/mentally sick people that cross paths with this location. Love coming in here for Ice cream!!! Though I think since this is a place where a lot of people shop out of convenience that everything is way overpriced then going to a regular grocer and or Target/Wal-Mart type place. Seriously I spent 9.99 on some mascara just because I didn't want to haul way over to Target, but they generally charge 6.99 for the same item. But the staff here is super friendly and they always greet you when you enter, and I can always appreciate that. read more

Thank God for this Rite Aid. I only live one block from it and it is very convenient for all of my needs. The alcohol prices are the cheapest anywhere. It is in a prime location next to Bixby Park. The employees are friendly and the place is clean. The ice cream is awesome! Lines move fast. The only con is the mass amount of homeless people that hang out outside. It's like an obstacle course trying to keep away from them. Plenty of parking. read more

4 stars for the ambiguousnesd of it. I like that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in this residential area or look out of place. It's extremely big with plenty of inventory, from jewelery to snacks to clothes and everything in between and alot alot of liquor. The place is clean and the aisles wide. Only issue is the checkout line, usually only running 2 registers, but it's not unbearable. read more

I live in the neighborhood and only really go when I have forgotten something at Target or the grocery store. The staff is friendly once you get to know them and of course there is always a line but it is the only store of it's kind in the 'hood and they have a parking lot! This place gets 1 star just for its proximity to my place alone. It's a short rock throw away and, for that, I'm appreciative. The other star comes from their decent prices on beer and occasionally liquor. Saving a couple of dollars on alcohol is always a plus. Third star comes from the combination of friendly employees and Thrifty's ice cream on hand. The only two bummers about this place are their prices on everything else and the fact that they're not open past 11 PM...which is prime time to go pick up some more alcohol. read more

I have been going to this Rite Aid for many, many years. I live in this neighborhood and find it highly convenient, the employees totally rock and the location is clean with an oldschool vibe. I'd have to say the best part about this Rite Aid is the ice cream stand! Treat yourself to a colossal and you will not be disappointed! I do agree with other posters, there are long lines and it can get crowded considering it's proximity to Bixby Park and the beach. However, this place has saved me on numerous occasions when I need some quick first aid items, a can of corn while cooking, a last minute birthday card or have a prescription filled. The pharmacy staff here takes the cake!!! They are warm, friendly and caring!!!! I don't shop at too many Rite Aids or stores of that nature but when I do, I usually look for snacks and drinks. Occasionally, for miscellaneous items here and there. This particular Rite Aid looks deceivingly out of place but when you walk inside the store, you'd be surprise at how big it was and all the items it has in stock especially liquor. It had just about everything you could think of other than fresh produce. Don't expect for your typical grocery prices i.e. Food4Less. I come here for the convenience because I live close by but if I was to do some heavy grocery shopping or even hygiene stocking, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Got sick on vacay in long beach California and needed Rx asap. Used plushcare urgent care (awesome). Doc phoned Rx to this rite aid at 815 and my rx was filled within a half hour. Outstanding service and friendly too! read more

I live close by this rite aid so I go there sometimes. If not I would simply avoid this place. The pharmacy is run pretty well, help is prompt. If you need something small its okay and that's where the good things stop. More so often you have people in front of the store begging for change,or for donations which should be the governments job since I cant afford steak and lobster every day. Sorry back to rite aid. More so often you have only 1 cashier or 2 working, long and slow lines are normal here. The receives are long unnecessary sheets of paper. Their restrooms are dirty and smell bad. I once had to break up a fight when they could have broken the whole store, but I still had to pay for my ice coffee. The coconut pineapple ice cream is good at least. If you have time or you like slow service,or you live close by its your rite aid.... read more

Had a recent bad experience at the Rite Aid pharmacy there Had an eye infection and needed tobradex and doxycycline on New Years Eve this past Tuesday. When I went to the pharmacy counter, Tammy mentioned they were out of doxycycline and did not have tobradex either. I had to have both so I told her to check other stores - you would have thought she would have done this on her own by checking the computer at other store locations I told her I thought maybe the Palo verde Ave & Spring Rite Aid may have it. She called there and she mentioned that they did so I drove over the 5 miles to get there. When I did, I found they had the tobradex but only 6 tablets of doxycycline and I should come back on Thursday. Today being Thursday, I decided to stop at he Rite Aid on Cherry to see if they could fulfill the other tablets but said they could not. The clerk at the counter mentioned that the original issuing pharmacy has to complete the order for accountabiliy. Long story short is that I now have to drive another 5 miles each way to complete the order. Seems to me if Rite Aid is attempting to compete with the other chains, they should have at least some of the drugs stocked at locations so they can complete the order. Unless there was a massive bacterial infection which I did not hear of that caused a shortage of doxycycline at the Rite Aid locations, I think they could have covered the missing doses at the Cherry location today. But the clerk at the counter mentioned those are the rules. I would also think that Tammy should have called other locations to see who had the complete order so I would not have to drive 10 miles to complete the order on two different days The head pharmacist Michael could have also been more lenient about crossfilling the order since he overheard the conversatioin at the counter. Rite Aid needs to have better ways in determining for their customers which locations can completely fill orders so I don't have to run around town in completing mine. . read more

I've never waited less than 20 minutes to purchase items. always long lines and no one working. and don't even get me started on the pharmacy. constant lines with multiple people working not looking up to offer help...just going about their jobs. I will be taking my pharmaceutical business to CVS. so ridiculous. read more

UPDATE: It cost $291 to get my truck back. Filed a complaint with Rite-Aid. Received a quick response from the Rite-Aid area manager, Brian. Very professional. He did some checking & verified what I suspected which was that the driver of my truck lied about the period of time that he had parked. The truck was legitimately towed. So, apologies to Rite Aid and many thanks to Brian, the area manager. BTW, the tow company also is quite professional in the way they deal with "customers". So no complaints there. read more

Here if my only bitch, if you can sell drugs at the pharmacy counter but you cannot sell alcohol - really is there some law against this or is this some overstuffed manager just wanting to use his power. Lastly, I am 74 years old and getting a bit grumpy, asking for my ID to purchase some beer - maybe I should feel good about this, being way past 21, but use some common sense Rite Aid, if the purchaser looks young then go ahead and card him/her, if not, let it go. Frustrating service!!! I asked for a consult with the pharmacist about which over the counter cough medicines I could take given that I have high blood pressure and am currently taking prescriptions for it. The lady, who had a thick accent and difficult to communicate with told me I could take any cough medicines and that I should be fine. I questioned her about it and again she assured me I could take any over the counter cough or allergy meds. Going by her advice I bought some cough syrup and allergy meds that gave me a racing heart and anxiety through the roof. When I spoke to my doctor, she told me no I shouldn't be taking any of the meds I bought. After stopping the meds that I bought my heart went back to normal and the anxiety stopped. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Aside from that, the lady behind the pharmacy counter that wears pretty hair pieces was sweet as always. She is always a joy. read more

Having gotten really sick and where I was this was the only location within "crawling distance". I found the Pharmacist prompt and helpful and found everything I needed including a heating pad and various medicines that would bring me back from the dead. I know the area is not one to "jump-for-joy" and yes panhandlers abound, folks always loitering around the front. The cashier lines are long BUT you ARE going to find everything you need here: food, medicine, lots of makeup - good sales on it too !! To make me look "human" or at least not scare children and small pets once I was feeling better.....Prices are pretty good and I found when I went there again I found some other things at GREAT prices - footcare stuff, slippers, milk, sugar, pizza, cereal etc; They do have a good selection of almost everything you need. Being as sick as I was I appreciated what they stocked. I also found everyone - except the one young sandy blonde cashier (who seemed to REALLY "over-chat" with the all the guys who came through and was "curt" with ALL the women who she rang through - I watched) I find this type of behavior absolutely hilarious because I have never been a so-called "jealous" type of other women - not the way I was raised but THIS girl had it bad - it was VERY obvious!!! The guys and the older ladies who were cashing were ALWAYS very nice. Its not only a great "medicine" store but a great "everything else" store as well !! read more

I will say that this store was surprisingly clean and looks recently renovated. However, the cashier was rude, condescending, and was texting while I was waiting for her. Given how expensive this store is, you should be able to find plenty of more affordable options around long beach. read more
