Pharmacist and pharm technician were super friendly and prompt. There were several people already lined up at 9am, and they got through the customers quickly. I saw the pharmacist ringing up customers himself, which I've never seen before. Maybe they should get another technician. Parking is always easy peasy unless there's a event in the parking lot itself. As for the store, I did notice that some shelves were pretty empty. I forgot my altitude sickness medicine at home (6 hours away) so when we arrived in Mammoth, I immediately went to the RiteAid Pharmacy. After a little back and forth with my health insurance to get the meds refilled, it was refilled. Without the help of Eric, the pharmacist from Truckee, I would not have been able to get this much needed medication in a few hours. I would have had to return home the following morning as I could already feel the onset of altitude sickness symptoms. I've had trouble with this pharmacy in the past, but the other day I needed something in particular, and decided to give Rite-Aid one last chance. I'm so glad I did, from the minute I met Paul, I knew I was in good hands. He was courteous, kind and way beyond helpful in getting what I needed and explaining how my new meds will interact with the other meds I take. I thought I knew everything about my diabetes, but Paul explained things much clearer and with more compassion than my doctor had. The shelves are virtually empty and when asked the cashier said the truck is showing up today! They were out of most EVERYTHING so I doubt the truck was going to fill the store! It is a resort town which we frequent several times per year and it would be nice to have a fully stocked store to assist with our needs. Not to mention the poor citizens of the town!! The cashier talks on the phone to her friend while processing your transaction, barely acknowledges you and then just hands you the receipt when she's done. Today the town of mammoth is swamped with visitors celebrating the 4th of July. We needed to go to the pharmacy and the parking lot was packed. The inside of the store was also packed. We needed to purchase a couple of pain relief items which are near the pharmacy As we were looking, a nice man in the pharmacy offered to help us find what we were looking for. This never happens bc there are normally so busy. Eric, was also busy, but not too busy to help us. Found out he was helping out over this busy weekend and that he is from truckee. It is sad to know that in this day in age employers mistreat their employees in front of the customers. Not once but twice in the same week, we saw two different managers putting down their employees out loud when we were around. Wednesday afternoon a Caucasian mature manager was yelling at another Caucasian employee in front of us. Today, a Hispanic manager lady yelling at a Hispanic employee, this is while the poor kid was handling two registers at the same time. My doctor faxed in RX for an inhaler, for my child. I went to pick up and was there before opening. Manager Gabriella opened the pharmacy, with 5 people already in line. When it was my turn, I asked her if she had my insurance info. She said no, and said that my doctor didn't provide that, it would be at least an hour or two to re-run with my insurance. I showed her my card, and told her i had never paid more than $10. She again blamed my doctor and said they hadn't sent in the RX properly. Gabriela assured me that I could always call my insurance after, give them the receipt, and they would fix. Paid $62 as my child needed his inhaler ASAP. The following Monday, I called my insurance and was told it should have been $5, and we would need to contact the pharmacy for a refund. The insurance agent contacted them while I was on the phone, and it took the pharmacy a couple of minutes to run this same prescription, with my insurance info. I was told that a refund would only be issued if I came into the location. I live 4.5 hours away, so that isn't possible. I was told the pharmacy manger would call me back, but she never did. I opened a claimed with corporate, and the district manager was suppose to contact me within 48 hours. Never happened. For being a pharmacy manger, Gabriela should have known better. My insurance reaffirmed that she should have never let me walk away without running my insurance first, knowing I had all necessary info in my possession. read more

Very unprofessional. I refilled tamiflu for my daughter at this location while out of town. The tamiflu is twice day for 5 days, but they gave me only for 2.5 days and didn't even tell me! This is very unprofessional or really they don't know math and they can't calculate dosage. Had to pay cash and now put claim with my insurance to get refund, but have to explain that they didn't give me total dose as prescribed. read more

The pharmacy at this location is atrocious! I called and faxed my insurance at the beginning of the month (Lee their instruction). I had my doctor send my pills in. I came today to pick them up and they tried charging me $1000 for the meds! Dude! I sent my insurance to you WEEKS ago! They had no record of it (that's ok, I do). So i had to hm to Vons up the road and they even knew that I was going to be screwed getting the meds transferred over. Here it is ... FIVE HOURS LATER!!! We only went here because we were told by two other businesses to check there and see if they sell snow chains. They don't. I kind of figured that, but walked in there to see if they had anything else we might need & maybe if they have souvenirs (not a big priority, just that most Rite Aids in Southern California have t-shirts, hoodies, and/or that typical souvenir crap allover. Well didn't see anything other than the bare necessities, and some supplies that you might need. I'm not knocking it at all, I only give it 3 stars because I asked the cashier - as clear as day if she knew if there were other places besides the Shell across the street, that sold chains and she misunderstood me and said "Oh no no, we no sell chains, try the Shell across the street"....that wasn't what I asked, but Ok, maybe she was nervous and was trying to get us to go (when we were the only customers she had at the time, so maybe she was just anxious, who knows? Who cares? But it did bother me that she answered me quickly, without letting me finish telling her the details. Yeah, the Rite Aid in the town way before you get there was much better. read more

Rite Aid in Mammoth is basically the local Wal-Mart. Just without the low prices. Once you get to Mammoth there is not many different places to get supplies and food. Say you need snow boots or a couple extra pairs of socks. You could either buy them at one of the places at the actual resort and use your life savings or you could take a trip down a mile to Rite Aid and only spend half of that amount. This Rite Aid is different from most Rite Aid locations in a couple ways. They stock WAY more stuff than most. They really do have just about everything. That is what brings up my other point...the stuff they do stock is EVERYWHERE. Stuff is in the isles, top of shelves, end of isles...kind of like how Wal-Mart was before they started remodeling their stores. I was helped by an older gentleman who worked there...his name may have been Dougie but I could be wrong. Whatever his name was he was an amazing help to me. I had to come back to him 3 or 4 times looking for random items and not only was he willing to help me but he knew exactly where everything was and led me to each and every thing I needed. They also carry the ever so amazing Thrifty Ice Cream...it's in the back freezer. Make sure you stop by and get some before you leave. :0) read more

On a recent family trip to Mammoth, we stopped here after dinner at Roberto's to pick up some beer, snacks, and sundries for the cabin. My brother and sister in law--who is pregnant with twins-- were eying the ice cream selection. To his credit, an employee walked half way from the front end and asked them if they needed help. "We're still deciding, thank you," was my brother's reply. Seriously, my youngest brother is like the nicest guy you've ever met, and his wife is a sweetheart. They're both much nicer than me and my wife! The employee walked back to another employee at the register, rolled his eyes at his coworker, and said "Who needs THAT much time to figure out which ice cream to get?" Both employees deftly represented the paradoxical highlander attitude that somehow we flat lander folk should not bother them in their mountain city... Yet they rely so much on "idiot tourists" like us to come here for trout fishing and hiking and skiing... To spend our dollars in their stores, so nice guys like them can have a job and wear that uniform shirt. Unfortunately for Mr. Bigmouth, my wife and I were standing in line for the whole exchange between employees. I'm more the patient quiet type, but my bride of ten years? ... Not so much. She said something to the effect of "She's your paying customer and pregnant on top of that, so she can take as much time as she needs." He tried to recover, realizing too late that talking disparagingly about customers in front of other customers wasn't his best idea. He was not successful, but to his credit, he did go wait on them after they decided. I'm sure that was pleasant for everyone, considering we shared his comments with my family before he leaned in to scoop ice cream. Management might want to provide training to evening staff regarding standing at the front end having personal conversations... And while you're at it, maybe a few minutes on refraining from making sarcastic and disparaging remarks about paying customers, particularly in front of other customers, would be a good idea. read more

Yesterday, on 3/12/24, I contacted the pharmacy to transfer a prescription that requires timely usage due to its short effectiveness and risk of withdrawal symptoms. They confirmed the medication was in stock and would be prepared within an hour, specifically instructing me to wait for a text message before coming in. After waiting three hours without any communication, I arrived at the pharmacy only to find it closed. The following day Despite multiple attempts to reach them by phone, I'd been unsuccessful. I then went in, upon my visit, they disclosed that they had attempted to call Walgreens to arrange the transfer but decided against navigating the automated system and consequently abandoned the effort without informing me. Now, I am suffering because I cannot access the medication they assured me would ready. Someone here is lying to get out of work. That is evident from this experience and all reviews. Ugh. I've called 14 times today. I am now currently on hold, going on 18 min. This is after I called in a refill, drove 30 min to pick it up, then waited in line 14 min, and then was told they are out of it. The reason I have been trying to call is to figure out if I drive 30 min again, that it will actually be there. I asked if they do anything like a courtesy call to say, 'hey we are out of that' or even 'hey it's ready'. They looked at me like I was an alien...
