I ordered one pizza and one salad and was charged a $15 delivery fee, bringing my total to $77.08. When the delivery driver, Steven, arrived, he told me my total was $89 before gratuity--showing me this number on the calculator on his phone. I was shocked. I asked why his total didn't match my receipt, and he claimed the difference was an additional delivery fee. I told him I had already been charged a $15 delivery fee, as clearly shown on my receipt. Why was I being charged a second one? He couldn't explain it and called his "manager," Cathleen. He even tried to say that the higher price came from the restaurant, which was simply not true. At that point, I told him it felt like a big scam and that I wanted to refuse the order. He claimed it was the restaurant charging a 4% fee which was BS. I was not about to pay nearly $90 (plus tip!) for something that should have been $77. Suddenly, they claimed it was an "error" and removed some charges. This whole interaction was extremely shady and a terrible way to start my vacation. My order was so simple and they made it so complicated with whatever bogus charge they were trying to charge me. It was clearly a scam. Be very careful with this delivery service and the driver Steven. Double-check what they charge you before paying, or better yet--pick up your food yourself to avoid the hassle. Prices should be transparent, and customers should not be shown made-up totals on someone's phone calculator. I will NOT be using this service again and have already reported the issue to the front desk where I'm staying. They treat their customers like they are completely stupid or something. EXTREMELY SHADY business practices! Beware. **UPDATE - This is a response to the owner's comment.** I appreciate that the charges were corrected, but this was not a simple "mix-up." I was given a total $12 higher than my receipt (before tip), initially told the difference was a delivery fee despite already having been charged one, and then received shifting explanations from the delivery person until I refused the order. First he said it was a delivery fee, then a credit card fee, and finally claimed the restaurant charges a 4% fee. I was extremely frustrated and had to challenge the total multiple times before it was corrected. Being shown a made-up total on a phone calculator is not a simple misunderstanding -- it's a major red flag. My review is a warning to others and accurately reflects my experience. read more

What to do when you're visiting a snow mountain area and you need a whole cake at 7pm? You call these guys. They were not only able to find a whole decadent cake for us from a nice restaurant (we didn't want a Vons cake) but they delivered it within 20 minutes. We could not believe how fast they worked to get this order to us. They were super nice on the phone and the delivery person was so friendly. We will totally be using their service again and wish they had a pre-stocking service where they would fill your fridge with groceries you ordered prior to our arrival in our home. This is a true concierge service. We were up for my husband's birthday, which also happens to fall on Superbowl weekend every single year, so Doorstep Deliveries was busy. I called before we headed up and talked about what we would need, and was given several suggestoins of menus to checkout and places to call for a cake, and I was asked to just call a day ahead to make sure we got our order in. I called before the Super Bowl started, and it was a bit crazy, but later that evening, once the madness of the day had settled, I received a phone call back confirming all details, I provided payment method which was credit card over the phone, including the tip, and then the day of I received communication as our food and was getting near. It was RIGHT ON TIME. Our delivery person was there with a smile under her mask, distanced, to make sure we got everything ok. So it's snowing on Mammoth...no surprises there. My husband and I decided not to make the 5 minutes drive into town to get food and opted for delivery. We used the preferred delivery service as suggested by the resort we're staying at : Doorstep. What a complete rip off. With the food we ordered the Doorstep fee was 8$ brining and then ontop of that they reccomend you to tip the delivery guy. I gave the gentleman who delivered our food a very good tip for making the journey swiftly through the storm brining my total delivery cost to 18$!!!! Outrageous. Tips are discretionary, true but really charging 20% service fee for delivery shouldn't then push customers to tip the delivery guy. Anyways I'm an idiot. Learn from my mistake and don't fall into the trap. There are plenty of places in Mammoth that deliver without using this service aka scam. Oh final note: our order was screwed up. One trip in particular, we came in one afternoon for a hockey tournament during a blizzard, and our son started developing cold symptoms within an hour of arrival. Mammoth suffers from an extreme lack of convenience for deliveries. I searched yelp and it seemed that only pizza places delivered. Our group was so sick of pizza, so I was pleasantly surprised to speak to Greg and Doorstep Deliveries. We ordered food for our group (Chinese food) of 8 AND alcohol (liquor store) in one delivery for the night and everything was seamless. We actually found an error on our receipt (liquor store's fault) and Greg fixed it really quickly by calling the store and refunding us the error that the store made. He did this all after hours.
