A lot of rite aids' have been having trouble with keeping their inventory stocked this past year it seems like, something to do with corporate I'm sure. But whenever I'm in here all the employees are very friendly and willing to help me try and find what I'm looking for. If it's out of stock there are some other grocery stores near by but my favorite part about coming here is their delicious ice cream! read more

Pharmacy Review So the Nigerian Pharmacist, needs to be educated on customer service and probably also organizational skills. I went there with a prescription and he immediately tried pushing me away because he seemed really busy. Gave me a bunch of reasons why I should go elsewhere. He was the only pharmacist on duty, I get it, but have some patience and care for the customers. We're not there to buy Thrifty's Ice Cream, we're there because we are in pain or suffering from health issues. He had the nerve to call me rude, when HE was extremely rude. I told him, I'm not being rude, I'm in pain! I ended up leaving and went to CVS, what a night and day experience. No hassle, friendly and caring people. Another thing to add, my wife recently picked up her meds from the same guy, and he gave her the correct meds, but stapled the wrong receipt to her bag. We were already at home and he calls us telling us we "have" to go back and pick up the proper receipt and give him the receipt we had. LOL, we "have" to go back. We don't "have" to go back no where. Loser with a capital L. Bottomline, this pharmacist is terrible, go to CVS for your meds, but go to Rite-Aid for Ice Cream! read more

They have locked up products but not added any way to contact staff for assistance. If you want a locked up item only the cashier has a key. You need to get into the checkout line, ask for assistance, then get beck into the checkout line to pay. Why not put the items behind the counter to make things simpler. Better option is to shop elsewhere. read more

This is for the pharmacy. They're pretentious, rude and incompetent. I've repeatedly seen them turn people away saying they're too busy to help and come back later. If people are coming to a pharmacy they need help, do your job and help them. They should all be fired from what I've seen. They don't want to do anything but be lazy and rude to their customers. I wish I could give negative stars. Jack, the general manager, is the rudest man I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing interact with anyone-- in this case, it was my father. We had a minor confusion with the price of an item and we received from Jack dramatic eye rolls, aggressive mumbling to himself, and outright yelling at us when we asked for clarification. The clerk next to him even defended us at one point, telling him to stop yelling at us. He snapped at them and directed them to mind their own business with their customer. On top of that, he didn't refund us when the receipt says he owed us a cash refund, and we actually ended up paying MORE. I have never had a particularly pleasant experience with the staff at this Rite Aid location, but now having met the general manager, I can't blame his team for their distaste for the job. For the sake of your customers and the crew of employees at Rite Aid, something needs to be done about a manager who is so deeply disrespectful to the people around him and incompetent to boot. read more

I made a vaccine appointment. When I arrived on time for my appointment, I was told the pharmacist was on a lunch break and would be back later (probably 15 minutes). I asked why offer an appointment and was told the pharmacy doesn't "connect to the website," whatever that means. Really mediocre response, really disappointing experience. They can, and should, do better. read more

I've had one argue with me about a serious error made filling a prescription. Their manner on the phone is uncaring and unprofessional. I just got of the phone with SLI, he is rude and disrespectful to his customer. I needed to pick up my prescription and the first things he told me was your insurance is not covered. I told him that is not true, and he's starting to get angry at me for letting him know there is a difference between not covered and need pre-authorization. They never call me to let me know this is the case nor did they told me that they fax in the paper for pre-authorized it. They don't know how to communicate with customer. read more

This is a great example of a store that is a valued and solid member of the community. The staff seldom changes and because of that, they seem to know just about every customer. Parking is so easy too, you'll always find a space. Rite Aid carries a little bit of everything, from soil and plants to dairy and of course, a first class pharmacy. Today while shopping, Heidi, their lovely health care ambassador approached me to remind me that it's flu season and that I could get my shot at their pharmacy- no waiting. Great reminder to those of us who have forgotten or just put it off. Thanks for the encouragement! Checking out up front is easy and the clerks always have a kind word or a shared event to briefly discuss. I like shopping here. I just had the WORST experience at this pharmacy. Please read other reviews to see that this is just ONE of many terrible reviews. The employee at the Orinda Rite Aid pharmacy that I was dealing with is named either Salvatore or Sylvester. I had trouble with my local Oakland Rite Aid (they did not have my insulin in stock) and they were trying to transfer my insulin prescription to the Orinda store (who did have it in stock). At this point I had been without insulin for 2 days (because my local Rite Aid didn't figure out that they didn't have it in stock until this afternoon) which is an extremely dangerous situation. Granted I was already very frustrated with Rite Aid however when i called the Orinda store i was unfortunately dealing with the single rudest, unhelpful, arrogant employee that I have had the displeasure of knowing. When I first called and he answered, the call was dropped. I thought he had hung up on me bc the connection was so bad. I called back and asked him why he did that and he denied it. Fine. He told me, aggressively, that the Oakland Rite Aid had NOT transferred my insulin prescription. I told him that I had JUST hung up with them and they told me that they had. At this point he started arguing with me that it's not HIS fault if they don't know what they are doing. etc. I began driving from Oakland to Orinda because all I cared about was getting insulin so that I didn't end up in the hospital tonight with Diabetic Ketoacidosis. I had the Oakland pharmacy on the phone as I walked into the Orinda pharmacy. I was literally prepared to hand my phone to the Orinda guy and watch over them as they straightened out their problem (This was not my problem! And the Oakland pharmacy tech also told me that the Orinda Pharmacy tech she had spoken to had a terrible attitude and was a problem). I approached the Orinda pharmacy and started to explain my problem and this man interrupted me and started lecturing me on how i had accused him of hanging up and that I needed to be grateful that he was helping me. I explained that I needed my insulin and that I was sent to this specific pharmacy because they had it in stock. He again interrupted me to lecture me about "my behavior" (please note that i was trying to discuss my prescription (not his behavior), and he REFUSED to answer any of my medication-related questions (which I think might be his JOB) and continued arguing). I told him that I didn't need a lecture - what I needed was my insulin and he walked away. I followed him to the other counter - asking 3 times "Do you have my prescription and are you filing it?" and he ignored me every time. He was refusing to discuss my medication with me - medication that at this point has become critical. I found (after 30 minutes) the store manager who listened, with no real care about what I, a Rite Aid customer, was telling him. His response was "You offended the pharmacy manager and he fills prescriptions AT HIS DISCRETION." So I asked "Are you telling me that he is refusing to fill my insulin? Are you telling me that I need to go somewhere else to get my insulin?" (i had been dealing with Rite Aid for 4 hours at this point). He said no that Sylvester is prepared to fill it and this it would be ready in 1 hour. This complaint will be filed with the Rite Aid Fraud, Ethics and Compliance Hotline with copies sent to both store managers. read more

Really terrible pharmacy. So slow. It's not like there's a long line and it takes awhile to get through everybody. Slow as in I've now twice been the only person to be in line and they do nothing to attend to the window for at least 5 minutes. Then they have no apparent protocol for giving vaccines. They acted inconvenienced when I said I was there for the covid vaccine, as though it were unusual to have vaccinations scheduled for that day. I've had an appointment both times and been on time. Hands-down the best drugstore in Orinda. I always come here first. With the loyalty program my family usually gets 20 or 30% off of every non pharmacy item in the store, except alcohol. I've come in to this location several times over the past few years -- one significant thing that I've noticed is the nice customer service in 2015 -- and the helpful customer service this first month of 2016 : ) When I've needed a Thrifty ice cream (who remembers that Rite Aid was Thrifty back in the day? Holla!), they stepped it up with some rainbow sherbert (is that gluten-free?) When I needed a plush toy -- stat! -- the gal behind the register thought it was kind of ironic to pay a premium price -- until I punched in my Gold Level Wellness+ status and got the 20% discount. Sup. Gold Status rocks. And when I needed gift bags on sale, I piled them into my rolling basket and the cashier, Jack, took the time to bag up my purchases carefully and respectfully (I was impressed with how he made sure not to bend any gift tags!! Drugstores can surprise me at times. I came here for only one thing, Aveeno Daily Lotion with Menthol. This is the only place in the area that has it. I've checked Berkeley, Oakland, SF, Albany, and Moraga--all the CVS and Wallgreens and none. And the price is pretty good for a bottle. $8, as opposed to $14 for the non menthol bottle over at the CVS in Moraga. Rite-aid, you're my new go to stores in the Lamirinda area. If it was possible, I would give this Rite Aid no stars! I've worked the farmers market here in the past on Saturday mornings, And have been treated the same way every time I enter this rite aid store location with a request to use the restroom. I have even explained in emergency situations, that I have had a medical condition and need to use their restroom. Both times I was shunned away; claiming the bathrooms were out of order or that they are not open to the public. Upon personal inspection the bathrooms with "out of order" signs placed on the door, we're completely functional on the inside with maybe a toilet seat cover on the ground. This is unacceptable. I do not appreciate being lied to. Especially when my health is a concern. I will NOT shop here. Farmers market workers need to pee too and should not be discriminated against. read more

Updating my review. My partner and I have had the displeasure of JOSH, the "Assistant Store Manager" ringing us up. He has the foulest look on his face. Busy reading instead of calling us up to his register. We say, "Hello", he says nothing. No acknowledgement. We does not say, "Thank You". He has no customer service whatever. The feeling one gets with him "assisting" is that of extreme disservice....unhappy, ungrateful, definite anger and an air of superiority. His behavior does not belong in retail. Maybe cleaning toilets where he won't have to interact with the public. Maybe he's a homophobe? Who knows, but we'll spend our dollars somewhere else. I received reminders all week about my scheduled Moderna booster vaccine on Friday Nov. 27 at 5.20. PM. I don't have a car so took bus and Bart from Oakland to Orinda only to be told there was no vaccine. The pharmacist shrugged and said maybe try the next day! I explained that I am 83 years old and have trouble walking and had come a long distance at some expense and for my scheduled appointment, for which I'd received a reminder that very morning! He shrugged and went back to what he was doing. I thought pharmacists were supposed to be care about the process of getting the older generation vaccinated. At least he could have had the courtesy to say he was sorry. Don't go here to be vaccinated. This pharmacist does not care about his job. He has little humanity in his approach. New store looks great. Rudest, most entitled staff I have ever encountered. The older asian man who works at night was so rude. He was working the cash register next to me while I was exchanging a cord i bought that same day that had already broke. He was making comments about me to the woman he was ringing up, and I could hear him. Saying I was rude. He was having a problem with me even though he was not even helping me. I live in Orinda, and I find their staff very offensive. I won;t be going back there, I would rather drive downtown to longs drugs (CVS). read more

This Rite Aid is so fun! I work right next door and I love walking by the window that looks out into their loading area and watching the employees take their much deserved smoke breaks. It makes me happy just watching them. The store is fun and probably pretty standard for a Rite Aid. I used to stop here to get mini wine bottles before flights but for obvious reasons I don't do that any more. What really makes this place stand out is the really cool employees and the risk you take while walking through the parking lot. Went to return a recently purchased item. The checked was rude. I asked to make the return, he said "you have you receipt" so I handed it to him. He scanned the item and the receipt multiple times then proceeded to tender the return in cash without asking if I wanted it returned back to my debit card. I asked if I could, and his response was very brief; "we're not allowed to return it back". I feel like he did not take the time to do his job and look at the receipt at all and was just being plain out lazy. read more

The pharmacy at the Orinda Rite Aid is a huge disappointment. My dentist sent them a prescription for me to pick up after surgery. I picked it up with no problems. I got home and realized one of the prescriptions was missing. I called them and they said "oh yeah, it's not ready yet". I said "why didn't you tell me that when I was there?" He said "I don't know who you spoke to. It will be ready in 30 minutes". I waited and returned 30 minutes later. The guy at the pharmacy said "weren't you just here" and I explained what happened. He said the pharmacist is at lunch and he can't release the prescription without his approval. He won't be back for another 30 minutes! I'm beyond livid now. They didn't give me my full order the first time, then when I return, they make me wait another 30 minutes. And I can't have it switched to another pharmacy without the pharmacist's approval so I have to wait. I will not return to Rite Aid going forward. I had a previous bad experience but wanted to give them another try and they screwed up worse than the first time. read more
